We are excited to confirm that our lowering kits have been confirmed to fit the Emira!
These are an adjustable lower spring perch kit that you can fine tune and corner balance the car with.
Front lowering is limited to about 30mm because of lower control arm clearance but 30mm should be plenty for any road going car.
The rear lowering amount is almost unlimited.
This is a nice affordable option that allows keeping the original dampers and ride quality.
Installed pictures coming soon.

How are the sleeves supported / fixed to the OEM strut? Look like grub screws? What is the clearance over the strut once poisoned and the method of fixing to keep things nice and tight / aligned

Very cool! The OEM set up should have been height adjustable from the factory. I've never seen a lowering kit like this, but it seems like a great option for those not wanting to spend thousands on coilovers when the factory Bilstein/Eibachs already provide great performance. Looking forward to installed pics.

The sleeve uses the factory circlips much like the original lower spring perches do.
They are machined to fit and self center on the damper body, then the grub screws lock the sleeve in place to keep it from spinning when adjusting the perch up or down, especially with a load on it. The secondary lock nut then locks the threaded perch in place so everything is in a "fixed state" once adjusted and locked down.

It’s a height adjustment kit applied to the standard springs and shocks if I understand it correctly. It doesn’t cost thousands.

I was referring to other traditional coilover options like KW and Öhlins that can be $3-6k+! This GRP kit seems like a great deal.

No worries, I misread your original comment and felt the need to try and correct you  (y)

Are there any downsides/trade off of this product?

Same as with any lowering kit. You'll need to be more cautious of bumps and parking blocks. Most of us who've driven lowered vehicles have mastered approach angles. 😂

The other downside is likely voiding any suspension related warranty claims. Manufacturers can't void your warranty completely due to mods, but they can deny claims if an aftermarket part directly relates to the failure. So if your suspension starts clunking or a swaybar endlink breaks or something, Lotus can blame a lowering kit and deny a warranty repair. That's how it works in the US at least.

Probably a little too technical to go into this specific thread but I’ll generalize the trade offs of just lowering the spring perch. This may or may not be applicable to this specific installation and GRP can correct anything they see isn’t applicable as this thread isn’t meant to be negative towards an obviously great product.

- Reduced damper travel as you lower the car further, at some point you’ll hit the bump stops under compression.
- Risk of spring becoming unseated at full droop if you lower the car too far.
- Lowering the car without changing anything else likely makes more body roll. This is caused by the increased length of the moment arm between the moment center and the center of gravity as the control arm angles change. Without a stiffer spring or a roll center adjustment kit to correct the longer moment arm you get more body roll.

All that being said this is a fantastic and affordable option to set your ride height exactly where you want it if it’s within reason. I’ll be considering them for corner balancing.

All correct and good info!
If you are not trying to go for a super low show car look and want to just lower the car say 20-25mm's there really wont be any noticeable downsides.
The original springs have a bit of compression still even if the lower perch is lowered by about 15mm, after that it will have some freeplay.
As with lowering any car there will be camber gain depending on how much you lower it so getting the alignment checked after isnt a bad idea.
Corner balancing is definitely a nice benefit with these!

Anyone install one of these yet, how do you like it?

Emira is one of the cars that looks a million times better when lowered about 2 cm. It really sits too high in its standard setup from factory. Once lowered it looks so much meaner and high end supercar...I lowered mine and absolutely love the stance. Used 3way Nitron dampers and springs. More expensive but also add to the quality of the ride. Please mind standard setup is not all defined by best possible product, but also by the bean counters and how much it could cost. Adding high-end specialist kit like Nitron - which I can highly recommend - can also improve ride quality - provided its Dailed in and setup properly.

Has the lowering kit an EU/TÜV approval to be street legal in Europe or Germany?

It's certainly nice to be able to adjust ride height (within reason), but the #1 performance value in these for me personally is the added ability to do precise corner balancing of the chassis.

People really underestimate the handling finesse that corner balancing can unlock on a capable chassis and damper combination, and the specific needs are unique per vehicle because of manufacturing tolerance stacking, so they can't be pre-determined. A threaded or infinitely adjustable height/preload system is required to accomplish it, which is what this kit is.

FYI the comparable legacy product that many might be familiar with on other vehicles is the height adjustment collars from Ground Control, which require changeover to an Eibach small diameter race spring and often some custom fitment work to make the collar work cleanly and attach well to the damper body. Since Lotus already uses a relatively small diameter spring in their factory configuration, it enables a much more bespoke/professional product that is an ideal fit for the mounting scenario on the Emira.

Great option GRP, thanks for bringing these to market. (y)

The one set of actual corner weights we’ve seen on here were practically perfect iirc, so maybe we have a head start on that.
Yep, I have the image from the scales saved in my file. But different individual cars will measure differently depending on a bunch of production factors, so another car might not be as spot-on as that one happened to be.

Also, I'm pretty sure it was corner balanced without driver, and ideally, I'd want to do it with me in the seat.

Would the sport suspension be a better option if planning to install this due to more body roll once lowered? Or it won't matter with touring or sport option?
