Ventured out in the hills in the last night not knowing the gritters were out. Can’t figure out how/where the aero intake is? Neighbours thought I was mad hosing the car at midnight 🤣. Possible PPF needed in this area? Hope the Emira has good underbody protection against corrosion?

good lad, mines wounded as well

The bottom rear corner of the door is rounded so there’s a bit of a gap for stuff to get sucked up.
There’s a little piece of factory ppf there so they knew it was an issue.
It’s only water getting sucked up. It’s not like stones can impact there so I wouldn’t worry about it.

It picks up so much debris through the rear air vents, clearly does what’s it supposed to do

I get what the air vents do but why does the door jam get so dirty. Where does it come from? It doesn’t come from the bottom side skirts or the rear side vents because that’s after the door jam.

It might be a venturi effect due to the airflow across that gap. I take it there isn't a rubber seal on the door around the outside of that raised area? That'll be something I'll look into when I get mine.

Me too. Maybe some sort of rubber adhesive seal might work.

You’re absolutely right thank you. There is a gap around the door leading up-to the door jams where there is PPF.

I’ve sealed the gap with some rubber door seal hopefully this will stop all the muck and grit getting up there. Also might help with wind noise too.

Photos of the underside - pretty flat aluminum panels with a LOT of bolts. Hope they are not the corroding kind.

The previous fix isn’t perfect, the seal wasn’t tall enough as it’s a wedge shape. This one is much improved and completely seals the door so no dirt inside the door jam. I’m convinced any noise from the B pillar is reduced. Now I need to either make/design or purchase a wedge shaped rubber door seal to make it look neater. I did look at buying a black rubber door wedge 🤣

Play your cards right and Lotus owes you a residual parts fee for re-engineering the door seals on all models going forward.
My advisory retainer will soon be submitted.
Forum members are grateful.

Like you, I've noticed how dirty the door jambs get, I may adopt a similar fix - nice one!

That’s grit from the road inside the door jams? Do you usually find this in other cars?

Thanks Wonza, I would appreciate the spec on what size and where you purchased the foam seal, or if you have found a better product.

Can't believe you're getting them dirty...

I'll be cutting these two holes in mine (when it finally arrives) and driving round with it fully covered... 😂

"Exactly" what do you want Wonza? Could you sketch it with accurate dimensions? (I have a plan...)

The waterproof foam seal is 2cm by 2cm. It isn’t 100% perfect but does seal muck from getting on the door jam but not dust (which is good enough for now). For it to be perfect it needs to be moulded to fit round the corner to completely seal it up and improve airflow through the air vent rather than the door jam.
