4000 miles on the clock with varied driving conditions, including many of the Swiss and Italian high mountain passes, the German Black Forest and back roads of France and Wales. Overall the car performs well and despite the issues, I am persevering and enjoying the up times.

One area I would like to improve is firming up the engine/gearbox mounts to reduce the engine movement on braking, acceleration and cornering. It should also make the gearchange feel much more connected and direct,

I have in the past used Powerflex inserts on my Exige S2 and my GR Yaris, but they are not yet offering a solution for Emira. Has anyone any recommendations for either replacement mounts or inserts for the Emira?

Any specialist Lotus suppliers reading this and working on anything?

There used to be a product that was similar to a tube of silicone, and you just filled in the voids in the mounts. You could choose the hardness level (durometer) depending on how stiff you wanted them. Not sure if that is still around.

Probably something like this.

Here in the USA we used to use a product called 3M Window Weld. Back when I was drag racing FWD cars (as a 20-something!) this was something you’d do to prevent wheel hop on launch and driveline whiplash. It did have a negative effect on NVH inside the cabin but we didn’t care. A tube of 3M WW effectively converted your factory motor/trans mounts into a solid stiff rubber mount.

Powerflex have said they will look at making inserts if they have enough interest from Emira community. Email Powerflex to show interest so they may gauge the market.

Good News..... James at Powerflex has reported that if they continue to receive enquires for engine/ gearbox mount inserts for the V6 Emira they will develop an insert.
Due to the number of enquiries already taken they are currently trying to obtain details of the Engine Mounts so that they can order a set to start development.

In the meantime please email Poweflex and let them know your interest.

This has been the least expensive and best improvement to a number of cars I have owned. The Emira would really benefit from the engine / gearbox front and rear mounts having less movement. IMO

Not sure if the OEM mounts are a Toyota part or a bespoke Lotus item. Also are they the same as Evora?

Apparently Powerflex have an established relationship with Lotus and they are are actively working on a design for their inserts.

I just ordered a set of Yellow and a set of Black from “Awesome” https://powerflexstore.co.uk/
I had to call them to place the order as they are not yet showing on their website.

James at Powerflex said they are currently making them and shipping will start at the end of next week.

Please note that Powerflex do not sell directly to end users and Powerflexstore is a subsidiary of Awesome GTI Ltd, 0161 776 0777.

This confused me in the past when I thought I was buying direct from the manufacturer.

Yellow is softer than the black series but on other cars I have often started with the yellow and end up changing to the back for a more connected experience with a little more NVH.

Really interested to hear about how this affects the car (the yellow esp). Sourcing to ship to the US i'm sure is possible. Is this something the dealer could likely install, or we talking having to find a performance shop so as to not bring any "after market parts aren't approved" kind of talk with the dealer?

These are certainly cheap, but how easy are they to install? A little difficult to tell with the manual as anything related to this is tied to removing the transmission. Wondering what access is like from the bottom of the car.

Shouldn't be too bad. Same process as any other engine bay access. The hardest part will likely be supporting the engine/trans assembly while the mount is disconnected.

Hopefully I should get them next week and will try to work out how to fit them. I have seen a few articles on changing the Emira engine mounts and it appears to be fairly straightforward.

My dealer has fitted them on other cars but not yet the Emira and was of the opinion that it was probably something they would be prepared to offer. I think it would depend on each Lotus dealer and their attitude to the addition.

I found this article for the Evora. Make sure you read to the end as there is no need to remove transmission.
