Looking for recommendations on Front and Rear Dash Cams as well as how easy they are to install etc. I’ve done a front dash cam before that plugs into USB but trying to get my head around how a rear one works. Thanks.

I would be really pro Garmin mini because even at 1080 it takes clear shots and the new filter is nice on the 3 but I got one to test fit and I cant get it to connect for the life of me. I think if you get working ones its a great system where you can sync up to 4 of them to get the sides too and the size is really nice but not sure how reliable these things are.

Specific model from them you recommend?
I run an A139 Pro in the family car, and have been happy with it (and I prefer something smaller without a screen, because I'm going to view/control it from my phone anyway). They have newer generation cams out (same excellent Starvis sensors, but more compute power etc), but nothing discreet or screenless yet.

I went with a VS1 Mini for the Emira because I wanted it to be barely noticeable, and could not bothered figuring out where to run a cable for a rear cam, but in theory I guess you could mount a rear-facing cam on the mirror pod if you can figure out a way to conceal a 1m cable to the main cam... 🤔

I just have their front only A119 Mini 2 in the Emira but had an older 4k dual cam setup in my CLA for a few years. Any of their 4k cams should work well. They have image quality and operations pretty well locked down so it's just the form factor and features that differentiate between the models. You really can't go wrong.

I originally bought a Nextbase 622GW bundle, but my dashcam installer advised against it due to heat concerns. The way the rear cam is angled, I was planning to have it installed on the glass in the engine bay, and it wouldn't be practical installing it behind the rear cabin glass.

He ended up selling me the Thinkware U3000 set. It's got some useful features that the Nextbase doesn't, but the app is frustrating to use because connecting the cam to WiFi is a hassle. I've learned to live with it for now.
