The new GR GT looks wicked and sounds great! Is anyone else interested in Toyota's new flagship sports car?

I think they did a fantastic job with the design. Hopefully the production versions won't be too far off. One of the things that disappointed me about the Mk5 Supra (which ultimately led me to buying an Emira instead) was all those fake vents on the production version.

I get S2000 on steroids vibes from the front three-quarter photo above. I think it's going to look wicked in person. The rear end is the only design I'm unsure about. I will need to see it in person, and it may grow on me.

Things are looking promising for the future of car enthusiasts...finally, once again

It looks like a video game car to me, and I appreciate that. I'd expect base corvette lap times, but sitting so far back with such a long hood is going to be a challenge. I don't expect it to feel great, but I'm super happy Toyota is trying.

I dont like it that much in photos. Probably going be to super expensive anyway but interested see final version.
Did read Toyota has licensed the GR MR2 name so its coming under their GR badging/brand. Hoping for a non-EV with manual trans. (had a 2nd gen before)

I also think the hood looks too long; overall, I don’t care for it. I appreciate the effort but I’m more excited about the possibility of the MR2 returning.

Love the engineering of this. I'd prefer it over any BWM if I was wanting that kind of sports saloon type car.

I really like the look of it. Given its a Toyota, there will be almost no issues with engineering, dealer network and reliability.

I'm surprised that the GRGT isn't manual trans... While I'm a big fan of rear/mid engine with automatic, front engine resonates more manual to me...

Can see a lot of "JDM" potential with the styling RX-7/S2000 like!

So lets just swap the engine for a 20B three-rotor, turbocharged and it would be like sweet caramel to me!

In this day and age, I think this is super impressive. I like the proportions, it doesn't look overly styled and it has genuine Toyota design cues that are not dealbreakers like that hideous predator grill.

I really like the interior too- nice seats, driver focused controls with a really cool digital dash and some physical buttons.

The hybrid seems very performance oriented (no torque loss feature), and the placement in the rear with the trans is going to create an amazing weight distribution. The driver is sandwiched between the gas motor and the hybrid motor/trans and then surrounded by the wheels. It's a perfect layout.

If you showed me the front /front quarter and didn't say Toyota I would more likely get "240SX on steroids" vibes.

For me, so-so looks, turbo V8 hybrid, no manual, upwards of $100k... I'd save a few more bones and buy the new TVR Griffith V8 (if it happens, if it reaches the US).

Thumbs down from me on the styling. Too busy and weird proportions. Even though I don't like the long nose proportions, it's the busy broken creases that really kills it. Toyota hit peak styling in the early 90s with the Supra and MR2, IMO. Downhill from there.

I’m excited there’s a new sportscar entering the world, however….

1) It looks huge
2) Twin turbo engines never have the same throttle response as NA or positive displacement supercharged engines
3) other stuff in the market has a similar drivetrain/layout
4) I know styling is subjective, but all it looks to me is vaguely menacing. Not pretty, not athletic, not curvaceous. Completely forgettable and could have been AI generated

It will probably be a “good” sportscar, but my bet is one that isn’t actually special. Kind of like how the original NSX is the ideal sportscar on paper, but seems to not actually elicit a lot of emotion or visceral reaction when you read contemporary reviews from the day closely. (Take this last comment with a grain of salt; I have never driven an NSX, it just always seemed like the car every gearhead “should” like, but was almost never anyone’s first choice). I would still LOVE a Zanardi edition NSX.
