SO I know this might be a little different. I drive A LOT. I put roughly 25k - 30k miles on my cars per year. I currently have 11K mile on my Emira, but only because I didn't want to put a ton on it (a little over 1 year of ownership).

I am already needing new tires from the touring suspension. I probably have another 1k - 2k left on the thread..

My question is.. What tires should I look for next? I don't and will not track the car ever. I drive a LOT of highway miles (city too, but mostly longer distances). I would love to get a tire that can last a long time. I never drive in rain (if at all possible) and only drive when it's nice outside). It's garage kept.. Let me know if I am missing anything here.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I plan on replacing the cup 2s with Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 when the time comes.

I like the look of the tread, the high treadwear rating, the cost and the positive reviews. They should be more playful than the cup 2s while kicking up less rocks.

According to TireRack tests, the two best would be the Continental ExtremeContact Sport 2 which had the highest tire wear rating of 340 but was more expensive at $1,533 for a set, or the Kumho Ecsta Sport S which had a much lower tire wear rating of 260, but was also less expensive at $1,154 for a set. The two were very close in testing results.

The On The Road results were for tire noise, how they handled bumps in the road, and steering feel.

The Continental's weigh 25lbs front, 28lbs rear.

The Kumho's weigh 24lbs front, 30lbs rear.

As a comparison, the factory Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports have a worse tire wear rating (240) than even the Kumho Ecsta's 260. The Goodyears are also the most expensive at $1.600 for a set. The Goodyears weigh 24lbs front, 28lbs rear.

For dry performance and tire wear, the Conti's are the best choice. For road noise, ride quality and price, the Kumho's are very budget friendly albeit with a much lower wear rating than the Conti, but still higher than the Goodyear.

I’ve had the Contis and PS4s on a previous car and didn’t have a clear favorite between the two. Great tire imo

My cup 2's are almost done.
With the milage I do. I'll be switching to 4S so I'm not putting on new tires every season.

I haven't had my Emira long enough to wear out the Eagles but I've been impressed with them as a street tire. Really good grip, feel and pretty quiet. I did have the Conti Extreme Contacts on my V8 Vantage and I'd consider them equivalent on the street to the goodyears, given on different cars. Great grip, pretty quiet, and respectable feel and response. I'll be going with them when the time comes.

Has anyone actually put the Contis on an Emira. I tried earlier this summer but my tire dealer said that the OE rear tire size wasn't available and was on backorder. I went with the PS4S instead and really happy with them. By comparison they are old tire tech but they still rank as one of the best, even with the changing tire technology. That said, if they had my size I would have tried the Continentals. Better price point, higher tread wear and a good looking sidewall.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the PS4S with the velvet sidewall. This is the best looking in my opinion.

Velvet sidewall? I never knew such an option existed. I was very happy with 4S in the past for performance look and comfort.

For some reason they named the 4S replacement the pilot sport S5 instead of the logical 5S.
At any rate, the S5 is already out for many cars in OE form for Porsche, BMW, etc. but I couldn't get the sizes for the Emira.
This takes the 4S formula (now about 8 years old) and adds the newer tire technology.
To me, this is the tire to have when they come available in Emira sizes.

Most lines of the newest pilot sport line like cup 2, 4S and the newest tire the S5 (yes that is spelt right) which is the replacement for the PS4S. Have the "premium touch" or velvet sidewall available.
Well that's my "learn something new every day" done. I'd never heard of this "premium touch" or "velvet sidewall" but sure enough my tyres have it - Sport Cup 2s. Seeing as I hadn't even realised it was there I'm not sure how much it would be worth paying for this "premium" option - but I will admit it's fairly cool looking now I've seen it.

Anyone have any thoughts on trusting Costco to do the tire install?

They have the Michelin - Pilot Sport All Season 4 for under $1,500.00 installed with free roadside asst.

Thoughts on those tires and trusting Costco to do the install?

Not sure if Costco can road force.

FWIW, I’ve found PS4S sidewall to have more give making it feel less responsive on turn in (compared to PSS). PS4S have sidewall protector though. Any one know if the conti’s have sidewall protection?

My OEM Eagle F1 SuperSports will be replaced after this season and ran 20000 miles total. Still slightly above wear indicator AND I ran 3 light track days on them.
I'll 100% buy them again.

Tbh I’m not sure if the sport all seasons will have enough grip. I have those tires on my mom’s 4 cyl X3. Would make the limits of the car much more accessible on the street which is fun it’s on way though. I would probably stick to the 4S/S5 for Michelins

I would not do it. I don’t care for a typical commuter car but with low profile tires you need either guys that deal with this stuff regularly or have special machines that prevent scratching the wheels. And then there is balancing the tires.

what is road force?

Way less worried about grip.. I live in the Tampa Florida area with ZERO twisty roads anyway and most of my driving is highway and in the city (where I can't test the car anyway). I am just looking for a long lasting tire.

If you want tires that last a while, Michelin AS4. The wear on that series of tires is fantastic, and as a bonus it'll cut down road noise quite a bit. From a grip standpoint... less... but they let off at limit predictably.
