This is what we had for our 4Cs. One ECU with stock tune and one clone ECU with Eurocompulsion tune(s) on it.Doc and I (and others) who came from 4C world (and other makes/models) are used to having a spare clone ECU. I drove with my stock ECU in the trunk in my 4C while the tuned one was in. On that platform the cloned ECU would get vin locked to the car but you could just swap out stock and clone anytime you wanted. This was also a good way to deal with smog depending on the hardware configuration.
So some questions as we learn more are: is this same methodology possible? buy an ECU, place flash on that one and use it like a clone, keep stock one stock. Also, whenever there was a firmware update to the 4C, EuroCompulsion would get a copy of an updated stock ECU, then you would send your clone to them for updates and then they would place your previous used tune and settings on it. I don't know what modules or how many computers get updated whenever we get these dealer flashes and updates. Especially with the important transmission and fuel system control module updates coming.
Exciting! again, I am so looking forward to dialing out CEL's and adding some burbles, and whatever tricks the tuner is able to access in the car.
under the engine cover, sits on top of the air intake filter forming part of the lid of the air intake.anyone know where the ECU is located and approx time to R&R?
You can easily going from 360 to 430 via JB4 with no issue. Id recommend go the easy way.Yes, 470 hp and 600+ Nm should be no problem, but I’d probably need some cooling upgrades to get that consistently here. Starting off slow, we can always take a step up later.
Going from 360 to 420-430 is a good first step for me![]()
Well that couldn't be simpler, a bit surprised its not in a conditioned space. However, the the intake air might help keep the assembly is a good range.under the engine cover, sits on top of the air intake filter forming part of the lid of the air intake.

Im hoping Boomgear (or whoever the Chinese tuner is) can offer something similar.

That is such a wide and useful powerband. Also, the massive torque down low is going to make the car very entertaining even just moving around town.Sneak peak of stage 1+

It completely changes the car. Tour mode finally has its use, now I can feel the push starting from 2500 rpm in tour mode. This AMG engine is really something! That is such a wide and useful powerband. Also, the massive torque down low is going to make the car very entertaining even just moving around town.
This is super exciting looking forward to all the info you can share when ready! It completely changes the car. Tour mode finally has its use, now I can feel the push starting from 2500 rpm in tour mode. This AMG engine is really something!
We have done a few dyno today. This is super exciting looking forward to all the info you can share when ready!
If possible ask about process of custom tuning for things like various aftermarket parts (downpipe, cat deletes, etc.) and for methanol injection. For my 4C what my shop did was run logs with the new tune and methanol active and sent that to EuroCompulsion, EC made adjustments to the tune and I sent the ecu back again to reflash...hope something like that is possible.
It can be done using the same methodNow the i4 ECU has been cracked, I'm really hoping to see the V6 ECU as well.![]()
