Does anyone have suggestions for reducing the slack when the shifter is in gear? Thanks!

Man, I would love to know this, too! After years in various Porsche models, Miatas and a couple of FL5 Type R cars, all with impeccable shifters, this shifter is sloppy and loose and just plain terrible. It's really the only pain point in the driving experience for me! After 32,000 miles, it's only getting worse.

I believe the fore/aft play is on the transmission side. That can't be fixed. The left/right play is usually pretty small when in gear, but the shifter mechanism/flex itself can contribute significantly. Aftermarket Evora shifters have tighter bushing tolerances and return springs to help with this.

Search for aerie and grp shifter threads. Cable ends, mount inserts, etc
