Hi, everyone. In my last track event, I mounted a Garmin Catalyst using the provided suction cup mounting option. My track instructor made a comment about how the screen was a bit intrusive and blocked visibility some. He has a Catalyst as well, which he has mounted on his roll cage in his S2000. I'm looking for ideas and options for mounting the screen that would maximize visibility. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter and/or can suggest alternative mounting options? Thanks in advance.

Surprised there were no responses? Just tracked my AMG on Sunday and now want to mount my Garmin for the next one and get some data to look at and improve the experience. Previously hard mounted in my Elise but the Emira is a lease so I will probably suction cup it. Have any others gone about it in creative ways?

I just looked it up and that thing is pretty big for slapping on a windshield. I'm surprised they put a 7" screen on something like that. I think your best bet would be to try and position it as high as you can on the passenger side of the rearview mirror. That way you can still reach it but its kind of in a blind spot.

The screen seems mostly for reviewing after the fact. Can you stash it somewhere out of site, like suctioning to a rear side window behind the seat so it still tracks and then pull it off after?

That's a thought but I like it more central to I can glance at lap times and segment colors.

I suction cup mount mine low center on the dash, have an extra ram mount link that lets it get a bit further out toward me. Doesn't really obscure any vision outside car.

The camera you want to use the sticky mount. I've had the suction cup one fall off. That's central and up as high on the windshield as possible. Then there's a short micro usb cable between the two. Think 18".

You have precisely described the solution that I've been mocking up. Just a matter of routing the cables, a couple options as mine will only be in place for track days. Curious how you handle the cabling?

Mounted using suction cup in the top passenger side corner with the arm sticking out so it's barely in my perihperal vision. Have wireless audio through helmet which is more useful than looking at the screen.

Here's how I've placed mine, camera to the right of the rear view and cable snaked around to the right and eventually to the mount. Power is taken from the USB port under the console.
