Is it weird to tint the windows, slightly, but leave the back one untinted, to show the engine?

That's exactly what I plan to do. Don't think it's weird at all. I purposefully got the 'privacy glass delete' to allow the engine to be the most visible, yet I enjoy some tint on the side windows. I don't think it's going to look odd.

And to give an opposite view... I say it'd look weird to my eye, especially with the black window surrounds...

But, I love that we all have different tastes, really looking forward to seeing all different specs on the road... You do what you want, don't worry so much what other people think!

I like it, side windows tinted 35% NC legal……all else clear…

especially with the white leather seats I think it is a must

I'm getting 70 on the back and 60 on the firewall to create privacy glass through both layers but still allow the engine to be seen. So it's additive.

Mind sharing some add'l photos of 35% on the Nimbus? I'm thinking of doing some tint but also do want to stay NC legal and curious how the 35% looks. I saw an Emira randomly on the road the other day in North Raleigh (actually the FIRST one I've seen randomly in the wild) and it was Nimbus with VERY dark tint and it looked pretty sweet. I wonder who that is....?

Might have been us, Sunday morning we were in north Raleigh north of 440 towards wake forest, and later that day on creedmoor just south of 540,,,,,,

Yep, I saw you zip by me headed southbound on Old Creedmoor through the stoplight at Norwood Rd. I only had a second or two to see an almost-identical Emira as mine so I was a bit taken at first. I thought the tint was darker than 35% but it was most definitely you if you were in that area on Sunday morning (July 13th). Thanks for the pics. I might have to consider the tint. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it done and are you happy with the work?

Would like some opinions. Was thinking of doing 50% all around (front, sides, rear). Would that look good?
Would definitely look good but visibility out of the front could be an issue.

I opted for 35% ceramic sides and back to keep things legal and rear engine still slightly visible from outside and the front was done like 80% or so ceramic for visibility. I'm happy with it.

Strictly from an aesthetic standpoint, I do like lighter tints and uniformity all around so I understand the 50% all around thing. I think it would look great. But you lose privacy and front visibility.

I personally think it's a little weird. Not only that, but no heat protection for the engine. On a hot summer day, with the car parked outside for awhile... minus 50hp.

Did you get rear above-engine glass tinted?
I did not, I wanted to keep the engine unmitigated visible. I heard some tinted the cabin rear window instead, but I did not see any value in that, and it would reduce my rear view enjoyment 😉

That might have been another one, we went northbound in that area, Sunday afternoon, must be a nest of Nimbus there then😂.
I had the glass done pre delivery, through a tint shop Cape Fear used in Wilmington ….I had the Lotus NA applied PPF done pre delivery as well.

They did a good job, but there are many great shops in our area as well.

Took a couple more under different light conditions, with the 35% on the sides, the rear looks like fully blending in from my perspective….I think if you go darker than 35% some tint on the rear may be needed to not look out of place, but this works perfectly for me for all the aforementioned reasons……

That makes sense. I could've sworn the side windows were somewhere around 5% on the Nimbus that I saw (it looked like Limo tint on a sunny morning). I have to admit it did look awesome but I think I'd stick with the legal 35% like you did if I go with tint. I don't really want to be invisible in this car with all the positive thumbs up that I get w/o tint.

I've read on 50% front still haven't really good visibility even at night.

I might have seen the same Nimbus once before in NR, yes fully blacked out. If I had upper black it may make sense, but still too dark for my taste…each to their own

May I ask what car lift is pictured here, how high the ceiling is, and if there's space above for another small car?
