Lotus halt all delivery to the US.

all this drama in the end we still pay more tariffs, have higher cost in every aspect of living, and a lot less money in the investment account. It’s just harder to get that dream car 💔
In my case, I'm just happy that Lotus might potentially resume US production.

This is great news for everyone in limbo, which includes me.
Just a few weeks ago, I almost settled for an Emira that was not exactly my spec.
Me too. I wonder if Lotus will eat some of the tariff as has been intimated.

They definitely won’t eat any tariffs or at least the dealership I got mine said lotus told them they will just pass the cost over to the customer. But of course that could be bs or maybe he was saying that to sell the car sooner

Then again, for those willing to compromise a bit on their ideal spec there’s this. We’re not in Kansas anymore Toto back when there were no cars and dealers were threatening ADM markups on new orders yet to be delivered. Many on dealer lots now and not moving it seems.

I think there is enough inventory right now that Tariffs are not Lotuses biggest issue.
I was able to get remarkably close to my ideal spec and save $17k by looking into the very lightly used market (1500 miles)
Maybe not true for Lotus and some brands but many car manufacturers and dealers abused the customers over the last 5 years. Costs have skyrocketed over the last 5 years for everything. Even without the tariffs many manufactures had large inventories.

What they wants to do and reality is 2 different thing. Lotus have also said that they wish to increase price on the Emira. It all depends on what other UK manufacturer like JLR does. higher Sale with less profit is still better than lower sales with higher profit as it helps to keep factory staff employed.

Interesting. I originally read it as 100k per manufacturer but you’re right, it seems a total import limit. That’s going to be interesting as JLR import almost that alone. End of the “year” will be interesting as low tariff slots dry up.
When Starmer was interviewed on British TV he gave the impression that the deal left scope for the limit to be increased. To use one of Trump's favourite expressions "We'll see what happens"!

Note that the 10% tariff is on the value of the car as it is offloaded from the ship - ie the cost from Lotus UK to Lotus USA. Lotus USA then marks it up to the dealer, and the dealer marks it up to the customer, but these markups come after the tariff is paid. So it is not an incremental 7.5% on the $100,000 price of the car.

Does anyone know what the Lotus USA and dealer markups are?

My build for my 2025 V6 was close to 109K and I estimate that it would be 115K to 116K now.

Figure around $80K so an additional $5-6K based on 7.5%

A sales manager stateside just advised that Lotus has stopped shipping to US and won’t resume for “several months at best.” Evidently at a recent dealer meeting they were advised that no more MY25s are coming to the US.

Email from Gator May 22, about a week ago:

I spoke with our Regional Sales Representative at Lotus Cars Americas earlier this week to check in on the status of tariffs and order shipments. He responded that shipments are still paused while Lotus awaits official documentation from the U.S. government specifying exactly what percentage of tariffs will be applied to imported Lotus vehicles. Once that documentation is received, Lotus will determine whether adjustments to current pricing are necessary and will provide the option to either proceed with or cancel orders if an increase in the price of previously ordered vehicles is required. Lotus in the U.K. has numerous ordered cars produced and awaiting shipment as soon as there is clear information on the importing costs to the U.S. I appreciate your patience regarding the delay and slow information updates, but it appears we should reach a resolution soon. We will keep you apprised of any further developments and the status of your ordered Emira.
