Hello everyone.

How many issues in how many days is to many issues? Just a background. I purchased the Lotus in Dallas, TX. I live about 270 miles away from the dealership.

Here is my timeline:

6/30/2025: Car deal signed and closed.

7/1/2025 - 7/5/2025 - Car PPF'ed and sealed.

7/8/2025 - Car delivery (WoW what a car): Delivery miles 35. I drove home about 270 miles.

7/13/2025 - First issue: Gear shift level springs break, and gear shifter stays in 5 or 6 range. Milage of the car 370 miles.
7/15/2025 - Car shipped back to Lotus.
7/22/2025 - Car is fix, I am unable to get back to Dallas to pick the car up until the 25th. Lotus will not ship the car at their cost back to my home.
7/25/2025 - So I fly to Dallas and pick the car up (don't mind to much but another 270 miles to drive home)

7/30/2025 - Second issue: Power steering is non existent. (great workout if you want to drive the car). Milage of the car 630 miles.
7/31/2025 - Called the dealership. They said call Roadside and have the car shipped back to Dallas. That's another story. They keep canceling the pickup of the car today. Fingers are crossed that it gets picked up on Friday or Monday.

Now the Emira is sitting in the garage undrivable; waiting to be fixed for the second problem in 630 miles and the first payment isn't even been made.

Also the dealership as of now is saying they will not ship the car back when it is fixed. I am calling total BS this. A friend of mine joked today, they might get it road worthy in a year.

Just super frustrated!

2 major issues in the first three weeks is 2 too many. I wouldn’t give up on the car yet though. I’d hold them accountable to make it right including transportation to and from. Hopefully after this you’re in the clear. Best of luck.

They won't. You can appeal and ask for special consideration, but they won't grant it.

The fact that they won't return the car to you remotely is absolutely rediculous. If this company wants to sell enough cars to stay afloat they need to incentivize customers who would otherwise avoid buying a car without a local dealer. All this policy does is aggrivate customers. I'm 450 miles from my dealer. It's going to cost me $400 at the least to go and get my car to repair a problem that's the result of their sub-par manufacturing abilities.

What they should be doing is certifying reputable repair shops to do warranty repairs if there is no local dealer. It would save them money and save a lot of customer frustration. And probably motivate a lot of people to buy a car who would otherwise refuse to buy a car without a local dealer.

Things do happen. It is a bit surprising on a 1 of 1 Chapman Bespoke build however. Sounds like a bit of bad luck with the parts. I would give it one more go, if they don't fully sort the car on the third shot I would start a formal complaint process at that point. As for delivery of the vehicle back after service, it is not a common service. For example Porsche would likely make you pay to have it shipped back. That's been my experience. I would maybe ask what that cost is before buying another plane ticket and driving another 270 miles.

I feel your frustration. New Emira since early may. In early june i found issues with paint and liquid leaking and the car was left sitting in the garage until 3 weeks ago. Now it’s been serviced by a good Lotus dealer, but i’m still waiting for Lotus to approve the warranty cover, and i’m paying in advance since it’s the only way to get my car back. The car has 1100 km only because i bought it from another official dealer which is 6 hours from me that managed to not even answer a reminder from Lotus itself about the issues (these and others). I wonder why that dealer is even part of the network.
Now this is my car today. Thanks to this i learned that it was built 1 and 1/2 years ago and was left sitting probably outdoors for so long somewhere in Europe. (Also, french labels mean it was made for the french market but then got somewhat redirected? Or…?)
Just hold on to it, i’m sure it will be well worth the effort.

Agreed.

They can’t even manage an official dealer with an in-house shop. I fear they would totally mess up with 3rd party shops.

Sorry to hear about all of this. That gear shifter spring breaking is a new one I've not heard before, though the non functioning power steering pump is, like, just another exclusive feature that a few of us got.

Hope you have an otherwise normal car.

I had an oil leak on my Emira, went the route you did with calling the 200 mile away dealer, who said yeah we cant get to that for a few weeks, the car will sit outside in the lot -- they sent a flatbed -- when the flatbed showed up, I sent it away without my car -- I fixed the oil leak myself and quickly learned that if you can manage to address Lotus issues on your own, you'll be much better off....even buying the parts, etc is still a win when it's not extreme. It sucks that you have another issue, I wonder if the PS is something you can address yourself and save the headache -- I bet it is.

Yeah, you’d hope that given the circumstances someone higher up would step in and try to right the wrong. However, Lotus.

There were 5 identical “Chapman bespoke” cars for sale within a 100 miles of me last month. I don’t think there is anything bespoke about them at all. I did dig the $4k paint job but went in another direction.

Interesting because many people have had zero issues - myself included at 4,000 miles. Hope you get it fixed and can enjoy it!

The unthinkable just happened. LARGE WTF! Well about 2.5 inches of WTF and a dent too! The transport company just finging scraped the bumper!

Took the paint down to the non color and ripped a small portion of the PPF.
