Door Glass failure

Has anybody had a door glass explode, shattering the glass and bits going everywhere, mainly out and damaging door and rear quarter bodywork.

It is rare, but heat treated or tempered glass (safety glass) can spontaneously explode if there's an impurity in it during manufacture that causes internal stresses that eventually cause sudden breakage. I've had this happen in a house window and it was frightening.

I think it exploded by itself as most of the glass went out, it was the drivers door and no glass fell on me, the door, rear quarter panel and part of the tailgate were all damaged by glass fragments, even the door mirror bracket had a small gouge from the glass so it must have gone forwards as well. I was travelling at about 70 mph at the time so I cannot see how it happened.

I'd go with this. Off to the dealer, ask them to explain
If they say its a stone, tell them that would have pushed glass inwards.

Very strange. Hope the dealer takes care of it. Very odd.
