The original owner had PPF fitted to my car from new. Under the front number plate to the left, edge of the bodywork, right on the crease, I have a small hole in the PPF. I know you can’t patch it. Anyone know the cost to get that piece done? Super irritated but it has protected the bodywork

This was fixed at £100. I’ve always been sceptical about PPF but, to be fair, it did its job here. Whatever hit the film hard enough to tear it would doubtless have damaged paintwork significantly.

Sounds like it was a quite an impact. So was the paintwork completely saved by the PPF?

Yikes, that would have been ugly without the PPF! I'm glad I went for it on mine. A splitter paint repair would have cost a lot more for sure.

That's an unusual PPF damage. I wonder what caused that?

Looks like a "scuff" kind of defect-something (tire from another car swiping by?) PPF did its job though.......

My RS6 had a damage on the front quarter panel and I had a shop replaced the ppf. It was $1400 for the removal and installation. £100 seems like a super good deal.

The hole in the ppf is for sure new and not from the install? Seems odd to me that a scuff would rip the ppf back to bare paint and not damage the paint at all.

But isn't that the purpose of the film? It seems it did its job for you-I know I'm impressed.........

I just noticed damage to my ppf in two spots, both on passenger side, don’t think this is repairable without redoing entire affected panel. The shop I went with offered yearly ceramic coating but that’s not due until September next year. Might take it back to them to see what their thoughts are.

You can have individual pieces of PPF replaced quite easily. It’s not expensive either.

Good to know! I’ll touch base with my ppf installer.

my PPF is only 7k miles old...but has pitting, nicks, gashes all over sides and rear wheels flares, even kind of high up above the air intakes from the canyon driving - very happy it all hit the PPF and not the body paint

So you can patch it in a way. If you ever replaced a hole in sheet rock, it's like that process.
Take a piece of film cut to an oval or circle larger than the torn film area on the car. Place it over the torn area. Then score the film around the replacement piece. Pull the replacement piece off and peel the scored, torn film off the car. Then place the new replacement piece in its place. You may end up with some visible lines, but if the replacement pieces fit tightly, those lines should be tough to see. Here is what I did from a scratch torn film on the front bumper. It's not the prettiest up close, but it still serves its purpose to protect.
