Where it all began


This is the original site where Colin Chapman founded Lotus Engineering Co. Ltd in January 1953. From this modest building in North London, a young engineer turned his ideas into a global racing legacy built on lightness, innovation and British determination.





Standing here today with the Emira feels like coming full circle. There are talks of reviving the site, and perhaps this time it won’t be demolished but preserved a reminder of an era when a small workshop and a big dream could change the world.
