Call me crazy, but I'm contemplating ordering a 2026 Emira Turbo SE to replace the 2024 First Edition I-4 I purchased 3 months ago. Yes, I realize there's been a price hike, but the Emira I purchased, even though it was new, was already a Model Year old, and not in the exact configuration I would have personally ordered. Don't get me wrong, I REALLY like the spec I was able to get, but I always had the intention of building/ordering my own, and now, especially with my favorite color being offered (Purple Haze), and the added standard features, I'm really considering an order.

Has anyone else gone down this road?

Thoughts?

I think you’ll get slaughtered on price. I really like the new colors too but not worth an extra 20k to me

$9k difference in original MSRP between the two. With the natural MSRP price increase year over year (2 model years), additional standard features, updates, etc., I don't feel it's that big of a pill to swallow, IMO. Yes, I'll take a depreciation hit, of course, but I'm prepared to absorb that. Good news is, I live in a state that has sales tax credit, so I'll only pay sales tax on the difference between the trade-in value and the selling price of the 2026.

Pass for me as well. I have an 'original' Elise, first batch they sent to the US and have never felt the need to change for the next and the next. NOT making that change let me save up and be ready for the Emira when it got here. Instead of dropping more $ into the new version.
Still love driving the Elise (and have tracked it fair bit.) Never felt it was lacking compared to the later 'versions.'

If you got the money and it makes you happy, why not! I've always purchased very lightly used in the past and mostly been good experiences. That being said my Emira was the first car I've ever selected everything on and I must say it really does make it more special.

Look the depreciation plus price hike means financially this is unwise, but let's face it a two door two seat mid-engine British car isn't a very rational choice in the first place!

Yes. All the time. I wanted a bright green (like the new EOS green) or purple from the beginning. But I pre-ordered in 2022 and the only thing available was dark verdant. So I settled for that and regret it (not the car though, love the car, just the color). And of course they eventually come out with exactly the colors I wanted. I know it is financially a bad decision, but it's always in the back of my mind. With where prices are it would honestly be cheaper to wrap or even get a full respray and I'd still come out better than if I bought a 2026.

If you really want a custom-built spec of course go ahead and order a new one. My V6 FE is custom built to my spec and already had a price hike (110k MSRP). Also had full car ppf installed. I would have lost at least 20k if I were to trade it in so I plan to just keep it as long as possible.

I've considered it. I have a manual and I've seriously considered going AMG and I'm a manual guy through and through.. didn't even look at the AMG when I bought the manual. Probably won't, but if there is a serious facelift in 2027 with a V8... adios V6.

If a manual V8 were offered (which I highly doubt) there will be a glut of V6s on the market.
