I saw Porsche have their issues too. The EV Macan has been delayed to 2024 and no mention was made for the EV Boxster/cayman.

CAR Mag Sports Car Test 2022- YouTube Video

I am with you completely. Lets take a first year 718, 718 was the name chosen to highlight the beauty of the flat four racers from the fifties, and drop that car in the test. Wipe out, a full garage sale, not even close. I know dismiss this comment because the video was about new cars for...

Is it possible the Geely / China in major financial trouble?

I have to laugh. Apologies, as the old TV show might say "No Offence". I look around and I do not see a functioning capitalist society. From too big too fail to corruption at the very top of our society's. VW and dieselgate. Boeing and 737 Max Big pharma getting indeminty from an...

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

My local Porsche independant dealer is doing very nice business swapping active dampers out on 911s for a well tuned normal damper. He says they are great for journalists on a three hour test but useless for the real world over the lfe time of the car. He even said the Bilstien active are a...

Message from Matt Windle regarding Emira delays

I get the angst being vented. I really do. And on the other hand how do Lotus communicate effectively when, I suspect, they do not really know and worse can't accurately predict when production may start. There are too many factors outside their control. Lotus might get a message lockdown is...

Is it futile to compare the Emira with Porsche 718/Boxter/Caymen

Nova ,assumptions makes fools of us. Let me make my case, good or bad for myself. I had no counter factual argument or intention. I respect, expect and trust Lotus to make design choices with good intent. I have no value in one suspension choice over another. The point I wanted to get across is...

Is it futile to compare the Emira with Porsche 718/Boxter/Caymen

I drive a Vantage and it has a similar layout to the Emira. Alot of the time it works for smaller soft bags. The seats have to move forward, to create an opening to load stuff in behoind the seats. This takes time and planning as the bags need to be put down to move the seat. Hard bags are...

Is it futile to compare the Emira with Porsche 718/Boxter/Caymen

Yes, so much talk has been about the improved userbility of the car.: materials, cabin storage and comfort. So matching the luggage space to the benchmark car seems to me to be in the same ball park and a relatively easy one to do. A shopping bag of food is at risk of over heating in the boot...

Is it futile to compare the Emira with Porsche 718/Boxter/Caymen

Putting the engine aside for a moment. The thing i struggle with most is the luggage space in the Emira. The Cayman has has been clearly stated as the benchmark for the Emira. Knowing this why oh why have less luggage space? Why make what there is overly hot and or less accesible. I drive a...

Test drives and final stage of buying process for UK July delivery batch

I do get the frustration. Lotus could have said more. They are a small company with little power over many of their suppliers is my guess. When the parts do not arrive at the factory for assembly then cars can't be assembled. How do you communicate this with out upsetting your suppliers? Not...

    Steve Sutcliffe review

The reviews have had some contrast in them! Fair, we have to assume. A filter is needed. Driving ourselves is the only really true answer.

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

Cant disagree and cars are built for: road use road and track use track and very limited road use Evo's sin is to compare a compromised road and track car with a track car and pass it off as a fair appraisal. Not close to an apples to apples comparison. I do take the Evo review onboard and...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

Damned if you do and damned if you dont . Various suppliers are not delivering the parts to the factory. Taking into account world events this is probably the best car Lotus could offer to Journos. May be even all the car Lotus could put together due to the circumstances. How would these pages...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

It was raining, there are publishing deadlines and the report would be more damaging if Pilot2 tyred car had gone cross country so to speak. Poor journalism by Evo not too highlight this. For example Harry Metcalf had a question, on the tour/sport choice, Lotus answered it. So not the best...

    Factory Tour Thread

Like Craigio I was there too. There is little to add to other excllent reports of factory visits. Seventeen minutes in each station, a big screen board monitoring overall production. Great to see the red boxes go green. And I would have liked to see more complete cars, however slowly they...

    Emira (wide)shut line Discussion

I love comments like this. Lets see, hmm, Boxter/Cayman cup holders, do they meet functional quality standards, or is Porsche given a free pass because they get so much else on the car right. Can we wait for the car to be in production before slagging it off.

Order placed? : post your —FINAL— spec here

Hey every one bemoaning the slow reveal of the Emira. I am with you and...... think on this: On top of Putin playing "Risk"(you rarely win at Risk with Ukraine). and the Taiwanese deep fat fryer for me chips being set to too low a temp for max production there is the small detail of a myriad...

    Carfection video, first test...

Ahh, expectations , it is our expectations that make these reviews less than desired by each of us. If we started with a beginners mind then the value of these videos would be appreciated. The journos can only say looking good with caveats for the car being a prototype. They can only give a...

    New Config Live!

Has any thing been mentioned about the headliner in the car? I like a lighter coloured headliner as the interior feels lighter and less claustrophobic to me.

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

Hmmm, lets compare apples with oranges and come up with a conclusion. The 4c simply is not in the same sea. The interior is miles behind and it is no dieting paragon of virtue. from wiki 895 kg (1,973 lb) (dry)[7] 940 kg (2,072 lb) Spider (dry) 1,050 kg (2,315 lb) (dry) (USA) 1,060 kg (2,337...

    Emira redesigned by Ferrari/McLaren designer

Strange we are all different. I like the side view, it just seems cleaner. The removing of the X to create a smooth flow along the front wing into the door area makes sense to my eyes. As for the rear it is a bit too contrived. Can't wait to see the car in the flesh.

Is the Emira a supercar? Discuss.

A Super Car, what an evocative term. I believe it was first coined for the Lamborghini Muira of 1967 vintage. Top Speed : 277 km/h or 172 Mph Acceleration 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 Km/h) : 6.70 s In today's terms these figures are very pedestrian. Indeed perhaps no longer meriting...

No I made no enquiry as to when "my" car might arrive. I want to see the value of First Edition cars and the various additional options that may or may not be available and then make my choice. if i slip down the delivery list here in Vancouver, then I am happy. I think Lotus have hit a home run...

Being a Brit here in Vancouver I have been lucky to experience both Europe and America. Le Mans continues to be a motor sport highlight for me, having seen the race for many times during the Group C era. Fond memories, camping in the sun. Top Gear - First Look at the Lotus Emira

Yes strange how those old cliched sayings reverberate in the world. Less is more springs to mind regarding so many Yutubers. Give me the more measured approach of Harry any day. Boy I risk being the old fogey!
