I like the Theory 1, but the Caterham Project V is only 2,620 lbs, vs. ~3,500 for Theory 1. That's a pretty big difference. Project V has a 55 kWh battery vs. the Lotus 70, and only 276hp vs. Lotus 900+, but I think the Caterham is a bit truer to what Lotus has traditionally been - less weight...
I think we're getting a preview of the 135. I've seen enough. Yes they delayed the 135 by a year but they also said they'd show us something this year.
So I think it's a "concept" instead of the production intent, but it's clearly an EV sports car, and there is only one EV sports car still on...
I think the KEF system has a really narrow band of frequency that sounds good. Every once in a while it "likes" a track that I play, in the sweet spot of its range, and sounds great. Most of the time though, it's far from great. And it feels underpowered, I'm over 3/4 volume to hear anything...
I also have this. It sounds like it’s coming from inside the dash. I sat in the car for 30 minutes today with everything off, and the car did it 3 times.
He's saying electric Elise isn't possible right now, but that's not what Type 135 is anyway. Type 135 is electric Emira. I think he's just saying the EV sports car will be heavier than people prefer, not that it's not possible.
My car is parked 5 levels deep in an urban parking garage. There is no data or satellite signal down there. If it needed a connection to start it never would.
Update on this, the issue mostly went away for me. I was not a believer in the gasoline theory but starting with a tank of Mobil 93 (what I normally fill it with anyway but this was a new station) the issue stopped. It has happened only twice since (over ~3 weeks) and one of those times the car...
Busy day.
1 young guy (maybe 20s) crossing in front on a walk light, takes notice of the car and has visible confusion on his face, slows down, full neck crane as he passes, he stops, leans in to read the badge, shows even more visual confusion after seeing what it is, finally reaches the...
I haven't tracked mine yet (though I did track the cars at Hethel) but the car should be ready to go out of the box. AP racing brakes, Cup 2 tires (Goodyears are fine too), DOT4 brake fluid. Show up and run. Don't forget your tow hook.
After 3 months, some of my favorite interactions.
Yesterday I'm parked on a street, texting in my parking spot. Police cruiser pulls up next to me, signals for me to put my window down. I obliged. Officer says, "Want to trade?"
Cars and Coffee, McLaren sent an employee with a new Artura to...
New Acura "Performance EV" concept unveiled at Monterey Car Week. The rear design looks... familiar!
The irony is the press release says the rear design is inspired by the 2nd-gen NSX.
This happened to me for the first time today, at 3,000 miles.
For clarity, I've had the cold start stalling issue, but that has weirdly gone away. It did it consistently for a couple of weeks, and then stopped. It did stop with a new tank of fuel (I only fill it with Mobile 93 or Shell 93). Has...
From what I can tell this article isn't saying anything. The Type 135 isn't delayed. An "electric Elise" isnt happening but wasn't slated to happen anyway. Reading between the lines, I think Ben Payne is maybe just setting the expectation that the Type 135 will be heavier than they want, or at...
Something I’ve started doing is just motoring the passenger seat forward enough that I can firmly press the cup between the back of the seat and the rear shelf. For something like a thermos or a water bottle that works perfectly. Assuming you have no tall passengers.
I do. Called my dealer and they said they'd talk to their Lotus field rep. They got back to me and the field rep said he hadn't heard of the issue before. Meanwhile, it's a top post on the forum with over 200 comments.
