Absolutely true. But the Eletre/Emeya don't seem to be hot sellers in any other market either. I would be amazed if Lotus can sell even 250 Eletre Carbons in 2025, worldwide. It's priced like a Urus but competes with the Ioniq5N.

An additional complication often overlooked is that when you sell the car, the check will go to the LLC, not you personally. So now you’ll need a bank account for an out-of-state business in order to deposit it. Setting up such an account may take some effort.

Just FYI, the Emira bits are around 52:10 into the call. They promise to increase the price of Emira and achieve a 8% BOM cost reduction. One wonders if demand is still what they think it is - I suspect they're extrapolating from the early adopter bump for the FEV6 and assuming the same levels...

At least it didn't oil the track like the Emira GT4 last year. Maybe next year they'll just go ahead and grid the Lotus at the back.

Last update, the title finally arrived. It was issued 11 days after the reg, and looks like it took about 5 days to get through the mail. The big delay was apparently getting the registration done. (docs submitted end of April, reg was finally processed June 14)

I had thought that no car launch could go worse than the Emira, but the Eletre may be in the "hold my beer" phase.

If memory serves, the plan was to sell 50000 Eletres / yr. I just don't see how you get from here to there, even before you take tariffs into account. Notably, the Emira is the only model that's selling consistently. The numbers for the Eletre/Emeya actually dropped from Q4 2023.

I would love to see Russell Carr and his team decamp for Hyundai and wrap a gorgeous 2-seat body around the internals of the Ioniq5 N.
