Anyone add a baffle to the OEM oil pan?

In the US, there were BMWs that came with factory parts uninstalled in the trunk. If you installed them, there went your warranty. If I were tracking my car I'd probably put a baffled pan in. There'd be no way Lotus would see in, unless you popped your engine in which case I'd just reinstall...

    Finally an Emira Owner

Welcome, and great looking car - Glad you're appreciating it and great spec. Many people (myself included) have done the 3rd cat delete. Simple, inexpensive, and improves the sound without making it drony or obnoxious.

Coolant additives to decrease engine temperatures

Agree that live temp monitoring through the OBD port shows a few degrees cooler. So far, mine has stayed 185-195 in hot humid NC Summer. My Mini cooper from the factory runs at 221-226 which always freaks me out. Additives like water wetter may help, but work best with straight distilled water...

GRP decat pipe and Milltek Valve Controller

Likely not much, and no more different than testing the engine at different ambient temperatures or altitudes. Still, it does sound better and that tricks your butt Dyno into feeling faster - so I'd say it's worth it.

Doing oil change - what else while I'm doing that

Depends on the application - for my truck (sometimes daily driven, used to pull horse/car trailer) I just like keeping track of engine wear so I'm not surprised if it spins a bearing and leaves my wife stranded on the side of the road with a trailer full or horses. It's also helped me feel good...

Doing oil change - what else while I'm doing that

Definitely. The analysis alone is very helpful, but monitoring longer term trends in the analysis over the life of the vehicle can be even more revealing about the overall health of the engine. Also, it's inexpensive and super easy to send off. I send one off with every oil change I do on my...

Doing oil change - what else while I'm doing that

A good idea if in the states might be to submit a Blackstone Labs oil analysis (mostly to obtain a baseline). Free to get a kit shipped to you and like $35 for the analysis.

    V6 for 2026??

I'm with you guys too. The more V6s produced, the more available aftermarket or OE spare parts will be in the future.

EVO: BMW M2 v Porsche Boxster GTS v Lotus Emira v Alpine A110 v Ford Mustang

I feel it's more the "opposite". If a journalist says something damning about a car they might not be privy to the manufacturer's next model.

    US used car market confusion

There was an MSRP increase between the years between FE1 and FE2 if I'm not mistaken, and I've seen some dealers adjust price due to that even if on paper the are the exact car. I bought mine used at an Acura dealership, best deal I could find for the spec I wanted.

I don't disagree with him, but as a journalist he should say WHY a car is not easy to drive. Is the balance off? are the controls too heavy? is the chassis difficult to read? is it struggling for grip? A car should be engaging but not fight you. Some cars in my opinion that are a letdown...

How could they screw up a key fob so bad?

Can anyone report if the leather covers over time wear the buttons? It seems the inside portion that contacts the button is pretty firm, I worry about it getting scuffed up over time.

Which options would you drop if you ordered now?

Wish there was an option for non-powered/non-heated seats if it meant I sat in the seat more and closer to the floor. The KEF system is fine, but not sure it's worth the premium over the base Personally I don't like the black pack or black wheels as much, but my (used) Emira came with them

Cammisa had a pretty well described and objective review of the steering and driving dynamics (which overall he really liked) in a Lotus episode of the Carmudgeon show. If I recall correctly, he said the steering feel was great, but maybe could be a little better, and found it at a similar...

I saw that same one when I was in Wake Forest for their "cars and carnivores" car/bbq show. Cool to see I wasn't just hallucinating! I'm in North Raleigh. FWIW I don't go to the Morrisville C&C (it's just too much for me) but I sometimes go to the smaller Raleigh one off Capital. I have a...

Recommendations for clutch fluid replacement interval

Castrol SRF is reportedly less hygroscopic and has a high wet/dry boiling point. A number of racers I trust recommend it and feel comfortable with longer change intervals. While heat can degrade the fluid and the seals in the master/slave cylinder, I don't see how old fluid would directly...

New cars include prewired charger plug

OP, can you post a picture of how the dealership installed the tender? IE - do the leads hook to the terminals or is the ground lead attached to a body bolt. I've seen it recommended both ways. Thanks!
