991.1 GTS. Sold it to make room for the Emira 🤣 What a ride...that was 4 years and 3 cars ago.

    Incorrect mileage

If the service mileage matches up, there's nothing to worry about. My '19 AMG had 1700 miles when I bought it last year. Sometimes people just like to look at them 😊

Definitely looks like othet people's photos of bubbles...interesting. Hard to explain why it disappeared. I can see the "after" mark you're talking about.

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

Without a picture it's hard to tell exactly what is happening. Again, Scratch X is very very mild. What did you use to apply it? I'm not sure if this is even possible, but if it was an actual blister, and it was full of moisture, you could have maybe just pushed the moisture outt temporarily. I...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

The problem is that these bubbles are coming up from the actual door material all the way thru all paint layers (base coat, color coat, and clear). So the paint is actually separated from the door material. This will eventually lead to an issue with flaking and the bubbles will get larger over...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

Touch up paint would be a build up of paint to cover up a chip. In order to remove that paint, you'd need to sand it. Scratch X is a very mild polish, so it's hard to imagine it removing paint unless you were using it with something super abrasive. When you say "it's gone" what exactly do you...

I placed my deposit with Park Place in March of 2022 (after changing from Gator to be more Local). Cancelled in May of 2023 and got my $5k back no questions asked. I knew, however, once I put down the extra $10k for the order, it would be non-refundable. Did they not explain that to you?

Am I an idiot if I skip PPF?

I do all my own detailing. The last time I took a Porsche to a shop for PPF who came HIGHLY recommended in the Portland, OR area, he had a detailer who he'd been working with for 20 years. The detailer actually taught classes. I felt very comfortable having him do the paint correction and was...

Am I an idiot if I skip PPF?

This is all true. However, sanding isn't something anyone should take lightly and definitely not for the inexperienced. Also, you can only sand down the clear so many times. To each his own, of course, but for me, on an expensive car, I'd rather the film take the beating and leave my factory...

Am I an idiot if I skip PPF?

Definitely not a fad and has nothing to do with proper detailing. You can be the best detailer in the world and still get rock chips and scratches without ppf. Many professional detailers--Jason Otterness and Brian @ Apex Detail, just for an example, both put PPF on their personal cars.

Oy the orange peel thing again....It honestly scares me that I'm still reading that orange peel needs to be removed. You never EVER remove orange peel on factory paint. Clear coat is as thick as a piece of paper. What happens when you thin it down too much? It fails and then you're repainting...

Paint Protection Film (PPF) and Wrap for your Emira

Not sure about the repair difficulty as I'm not a painter, but those older cars were also all single stage paints. Correcting techniques were also very different than today's methods as heat was a good thing. Now you want to avoid it as much as possible.

Paint Protection Film (PPF) and Wrap for your Emira

It would take a very expensive paint gauge to get a thickness reading as the panels are composite. Some body shops might have one able to do it (as well as break down the thickness of each layer), but even most detailer won't. Thickness of paint/clear is only getting thinner in new cars. Paint...

Oh gosh no! You don't want to remove the orange peel on modern cars. Clear coats are way too thin and you're just asking for problems by doing that. Preserve your clear coat! All you want to do is minimize swirl marks and enhance the gloss before film is applied. Pretty much every new car has...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

If I recall, when Mercedes was having issues with paint blistering on their Mars red cars, the issues would come and go for some effected cars. I can't remember why, but the paint was definitely effected, so I expect these bubbles will reappear, unfortunately.

Emira Paint Protection: PPF, Ceramic Coat or Both?

Pre-treated ceramic coated PPF is something fairly new. Many just add the ceramic to the film. There is no difference in ceramic coating products used on ppf and paint that I'm aware of. All should be ppf safe. Ceramic coatings have a lot of hype surrounding them. The ultimate protection for any...

It's 100% hypocritical of you, when everyone who got their deposit back was at one point "in and out." But for you to call someone a "scrub" for taking up someone's else's space is exactly what you are doing right now if you end up canceling. Everyone has their own reasons and I feel like you're...

Any ParkPlace/Bellevue FE1 deposit holders successfully cancel your order and get a refund?

It's hard to find the Washington state laws in this, but I have lost a deposit before at a Jag dealer when I changed my mind on the order. I didn't push getting it back because the document I signed stated the same thing. My fault as I assumed all deposits were refundable and the sales guy...

Ya I hear you. Since I don't live in a big city or really near one, my driving would be more similar to where they were. I had watched another review where a group of 4 younger guys took 4 different verts (Mini Cooper, M-3, F-type, LC500) through Michigan and got 30 mpg in the LC. Not the...
