No new SatNav maps (ever?) - UK at least

The software in Volvo cars is different to that in the Emira, there is definitely no apparent crossover between the two. My 2024 XC60 runs Android Automotive where the inbuilt SatNav is Google Maps, it can also use other apps such as Waze, but only Google Maps interfaces with the hybrid system...

Ok, I'm saying it - the infotainment system sucks (but who cares)

HD radio and DAB are different technologies using different hardware (and presumably as a result different software protocols). It definitely wouldn't just be a simple check box exercise. Not trying to make excuses for Lous here, just to give an insight into why it might not have been...

Ok, I'm saying it - the infotainment system sucks (but who cares)

Here in the UK HD Radio isn't a thing. The Emira's radio was designed with the DAB digital radio standard which is the one used here (and more widely in the world). Google AI summary of HD audio Vs DAB: DAB is more widely adopted globally than HD Radio. While both are digital radio...

    Paint blistering issue update

My car lived outside for over a year and I've had no issues with the doors as of yet. It's one of the first UK i4s and going by the first service reminder I think it was built late 2023 (before the type approval delay). It has now transitioned to living in the garage as of a couple of months...

Dark Verdant Lotus Emira Photo Thread

A nice photo of my car has been posted on Facebook by Croft Circuit, taken during the track parade at the car show they had there just under a month ago. Heard lots of compliments about the colour during the day, love how it pops on a sunny day! (the track parade might only have reached a...

Spotted: Emiras seen in the wild

Usually the quickest way to tell is to look at the side vents, if you see the mesh covering part of them then its an i4, a lot easier than peering through the privacy glass on the rear!

New Member - North East England

Welcome! Good to hear of another i4 in the North East (I'm in the Durham area), think the official term is Turbo these days, but I've referred to it as the i4 for so long it's a hard habit to break (sorry BMW... ;) ) I'd agree some sort of NE dealership would be helpful, or even just a service...

Spotted: Emiras seen in the wild

The DV car was mine. The HY one is indeed a V6, but mine's an i4.

Took the car out for a post winter blast up into Northumberland and got a few pics at a vantage point overlooking Kielder Water.

First impression of my i4 from a current V6 manual owner

Keeping it in Tour only for the first 1000 miles has been present in the manual for all i4 cars (it was added in to the manual at the same time as the i4). It wasn't present in the manual when the manual just covered the V6 (where there was no drive mode restriction). I believe it was added in...

    Emira i4 servicing costs??

There's still no exemplar fixed price service costs for the i4 on the Lotus website Like Andy I also qualified for the free service plan and this will likely be the case for most if not all the early cars so it may be a while still before there is any indication of how individual service costs...

Flagship Lotus Emira Turbo SE announced for UK in 2025

It has been mentioned before that Lotus have been referring to the 4cyl car internally as the Emira Turbo for quite some time now, essentially since they stopped using the i4 designation following complaints from BMW.

    Integrated SatNav v Google Maps

Not in the central panel, but it is possible to get some navigation directions fed through from Android Auto as a small icon on the right hand side of the drivers display. (Carplay may be the same, but don't have experience to say either way) I can't remember exactly how you get to it (and...

Lotus to cut up to 200 jobs in the UK

The Eletre is certainly helping Lotus out here, as per DVLA registration figures (which I posted here) there were more Eletres (322) registered in the first half of 2024 than Emiras (280). Neither of which are huge numbers of course, but at least there shouldn't be an additional whammy of...

You can use the phone app to use your phone instead of the physical tag, could be worth trying that instead to see if it stops the alerts.

Why no Sport Mode during 1,000 mile break-in?

The 4k rev limit is in both versions of the running in procedure (in the UK owners manual). However, it's not a hard limit, it just says the engine shouldn't be run continuously over 4k rpm and indeed in both variants says that short bursts at higher throttle will be beneficial. I'm guessing...

UK PPF install - recommendations request

I had mine PPF'd at the Leeds branch of Topaz (there will be other branches closer to you but still a bit of a trek), was happy with the job they did and they gave me the option to take the car back in after a month so they could check for any issues with the install. They also warranty the...
