Cars are annoyingly loud lately. Is the Emira (3rd cat delete) too?

A good chunk of the community favors volume over tone. Loud exhaust is the trend, including OEM. I personally think my Emira and 392 challenger are pretty loud in stock form, which I find perfect and it's apparent the mfrs paid close attention to the exhaust tone and resonance. But some of the...

The Break-In Period No One Talks About (V6 Manual, Sports Suspension, Cup 2)

The Emira doesn't have the massive power or electronic assistance required to mask bad driving habits. It requires a certain amount of finesse, precision, experience and desire to extract the most out of it. Driving it is an art form.

    Dogs in Emira

The little rascal is 20 lbs. The carrier is 19"L x 10"W x 13"H. Perfect for airlines as well. It's a tight fit but it works well.

Is it weird I like driving it a lot more than modern 911's?

The GT3 feels more hardcore and planted than the Emira, as you’d expect, but not by as large of a margin as you’d expect. Not to mention a GT3 touring without the spoiler would lessen the margin considerably. One is a road car designed for track use; the other is a road car designed by a racing...

@Eagle7 , I appreciate you exposing yourself, yet it would be nice if other voices aren't drowned out out by your constant, lengthy politically charged replies. Back on topic, Regarding tariffs, reports from Chinese state media indicate China, South Korea and Japan are putting out a joint...

Do not hesitate, go!!! It's so much fun. Just make sure you end up on the newer west track. I'll be back to try a 911 GTS next time I'm in town.

Is it weird I like driving it a lot more than modern 911's?

I spent 90 min with the 992.1 GT3 at the Porsche track experience Atlanta last week. I recommend visiting. I didn't drive on public roads but got some feel for the car between 5 courses and a full length track. Apples to oranges, but the biggest difference with the Emira is the powertrain. The...

    2025 Pricing

I'd pay up to $125k (us dollars) for an Emira. There's nothing like it on the market. The base 911 is 120k with no options. It has less power, less features, looks and sounds less exotic, is less fun to drive and is much more common. Additionally, the Evora 400 was $91k in 2017, which is 119k...

    Auto only: Turbo vs V6?

@Adam Brouillard, there are multiple types of turbo lag. I'm referring to low end and boost threshold turbo lag. You are referring to transient turbo lag. @Rayjoedef , us cars.

Did lotus rob us on horsepower?

If you're unable to achieve the 5-60 time as tested (4.7s for v6 touring), it's either driver error or an issue with the vehicle.

    Auto only: Turbo vs V6?

All turbos lag, as they need revs to build boost. Turbo lag is any delay in power delivery as boost builds. It does not need to be past boost threshold. Peak torque in the i4 does not arrive until 3000 rpm. The 1.1 sec gap between the 0-60 and 5-60 is directly attributed to turbo lag and having...

    Auto only: Turbo vs V6?

True. 0-60 and 1/4 mile are the gold standard, yet they are calculated times, not measurements. 0-60 not only omits 1-ft rollout of 0.2 sec, but relies on the highest rpm launch possible. It's often cited because it results in the quickest acceleration times, but it's rarely understood. It's not...

    Auto only: Turbo vs V6?

I4 sports w/ cup 2s 5-60 = 4.5 sec V6 touring w/ Goodyears 5-60 = 4.7 sec Additionally, the gap in acceleration between sports and touring accounts for 0.1-0.2 seconds. The I4 (sports) has a torque advantage but has to overcome turbo lag, evidenced by the 1.1 sec gap between its 0-60 and 5-60...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

A wash is usually accompanied by opening the doors, drying the door sills, a blow dry and/or a brief drive, at least in my experience. These actions remove moisture in the door. You can also limit the amount of water that gets sprayed on the seals during a wash. That's less exposure to moisture...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

After a car wash, it gets dried. Meanwhile, the rain / snow will sit on the paint surface, the seals and inside the door for much longer keeping moisture trapped.

Osmium Silver Lotus Emira photo thread

Osmium looks different under various lighting conditions. It varies from classic silver to slightly blue tinted, especially under blue skies. The blue is subtle and not always readily visible. Took me a long time to notice it, and even then sometimes I struggle to pick it up. But when compared...

The state of new cars, a non Emira rant!

Every new car made is loaded with finicky electronics and dozens of computer modules controlling every system due to federal standards and the cheapness of new technology. Some base models are able to limit the amount of electronics with simplicity but it's largely unavoidable. Drivers cars do...

How much will the i4 actually weigh?

Car and driver tested the V6 touring w/ good years. The V6 Sports w/ cup2s would have been closer to 1.08 g and been 0.1-0.2 seconds quicker in the acceleration metrics.
