Emira V6 - Bolt-ons, Catalytic Converters, and Passing Emissions

It depends what your state checks. And if you can get in the know and find a shop to clear you either way (I.E. I have no cats and "tip" my inspection shop $60). Also you can get these to keep CEL away + maybe add some extensions, just make sure to not have the sensor itself upside down...

It's clam off and then some. IDK on the Emira exactly, but the Evora is clam, hatch, rear bumper, sail panel off. Disconnect ECU and wirings to/from battery (and remove battery) Remove the mentioned above. Remove riveted heat shield. Clamp all your coolant hoses, disconnect exhaust, remove...

More caster is key. Here’s what I run on the Evora, emira should be very very similar.

Learn how an engine works and read between the lines. Spark plug detonation marks and one literally blew out the ceramic. They ran too hot of plugs, ignored knock while tuning, and this IS an engine detonation. Is it a drastic full blown one? No. But it’s still blowing an engine. Valves need...

    Smaller Pulleys (A technical look)

There are diminishing returns once you account for other factors, but based on the SC efficiency chart and my math (with a number of assumptions in it). It's important to note calculated HP is an estimate with very high efficiency and eyeballing alignment on a chart, not accounting for other...

    Smaller Pulleys (A technical look)

7200rpm is safe on stock internals. 7600-7800 is considered safe with just valve springs being upgraded. Beyond that you need connecting rods (and might as well do pistons while you're in there).

And a went down the rabbit hole of "bad" ideas today, what a TVS 2300 would look like. HP figures accounting for SC power draw already. Here's oem TVS1740 with 3" and 2.7" pulleys overlaid together too:

Also lets clarify what Alaska gas is here: Alaskan fuel is 90 AKI (93RON) Ethanol free. Additives are only legally allowed starting Sept 16th through May the following year. (Note, it's August right now). The US federal level requirement sets a maximum limit of 0.05% by volume for combined...

First hand with their "sent to location" team: So they melted the plugs and detonated the engine and have to re-build it completely, hence the sending the entire powertrain back to HQ. :ROFLMAO: Alaska fuel is typically 90 AKI (93RON) ethanol free. FWIW.

    Smaller Pulleys (A technical look)

Hey guys, thought I'd put together a bit of a detailed look at how decreasing your pulley size will effect power and boost. Keep in mind this will also increase your MAT and overall temps. I based this off of Merry Frankster evaluating Rotrex chargers over on MR2OC (so stealing a bit of his...

    Jokerz Performance Supercharger porting

You won't really see the main benefits from porting without decreasing the pulley size. The SC ability to intake air IS a restriction. Jokerz porting does increase the ability to intake air by ~20-30%. This means you get more, cooler air at lower boost essentially (also means you're getting...

https://www.jubu-performance.com/_data/container/container_31/Manual_en.2562/JUBU_Intercooler_hose_routing_upgrade_EmiraV6_manual.pdf You can go to an auto store and just buy generic hose in the correct sizes and route them this way. Idk why the Emira changed the charge cooler routing from the...

If this is the Ti exhaust, I recommend cancelling the order or atleast being aware of the risks. There's 4 or 5 known instances of the muffler area exploding (in the same location on every one) and the most recent one (2 weeks ago) nearly burnt down an Evora because of it.

JUBU's cooling components are just different silicon hoses, a different toyota thermostat, and a lightweight water pump pulley (which only benefits at high rpm). If you're looking for better charge cooling you need a better drop in intercooler.

So I've done a little more research here for manual owners who want to push power. The VW MQ500 has decent gear ratios, handles 650nm+, will mount up to the 2GR with Engineer Freely's existing VW adapter plate and flywheel adapter and intermediate shaft, can use the same axle setup I have on...

Broken Axle? GI in built axles and how common this issue actually is.

I’m sure CVs are the same, but the half shafts and outer stub hubs will be unique to Emiras. Torque delivery is also different so many other variables to consider. The Emira (at least drivers side) is the same part number as the Evoras so is likely Emiras got a bad metallurgy of heat treatment...

Broken Axle? GI in built axles and how common this issue actually is.

The Emira shares the axle part number with the Evora (atleast drivers side manual is confirmed) and the Evora hasn’t had these reported issues. I think it’s likely that the axles are bad from the manufacturing process. I.E. not heat treated correctly. If someone can do a hardness test on a...

What I have now is for a dq250 DCT. It would/will require dev work for the intermediate shaft, carrier, and drivers side inner axle stub. Going beyond 7k RPM: A Thread

TLDR on 2GR limitations and rpm. You can run 7,300 all day long on oem everything. It is recommended to be running valve springs above 7,300. Running 7,800 regularly will break your rods. MWR's rods are up charged Brian Crower rods BC6364 and BC6365. These are the cheapest reliable option on...
