So I got to take a test drive.... :)

That’s what we are here for, isn’t it? My pleasure to add even a little insight.

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

I think part of that has to do with the investments being made on the dealer end, so perhaps this is the reward from the Lotus org to them for that? I don't know, but I can ask :)

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Old habits die hard -- I used to ride in NYC and NJ traffic for hours, so putting it into neutral was normal to save my leg :)

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Agree -- part of my allure to the Emira is that I've wanted a Lotus for a long time. When I was younger I lusted after an Elise; something I thought I'd be able to afford "one day", as I grew up in a pretty lower income home. Me being able to afford the Emira now some 20 years later is the...

And inflation and larger profit margins eat into that. Savings aren't passed onto the customers, they are reaped as rewards :)

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Well in terms of power, they seem pretty much dead on (from the spec sheets, anyway). As I said, I wasn't dropping the hammer every time so your mileage may vary :)

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

I don't think it's fair honestly, given that pricing for cars tends to *increase* over time :)

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

From the dealer's comments, this is a demo car that's been through Europe -- though the Lotus reps will be on hand tonight so I can ask some questions around the car and that's the tentative plan... so I'll have some more details on things that folks here have asked.

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

I was talking about the Evora/Exige comparisons -- I'm far from a Porsche expert so not sure there.
  10. Shyatic

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

But the Emira is *cheaper* than those cars...

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Exactly this. If I had a budget of another $100k then I'm sure a Ferrari of some type would be far more fun and more my speed. But I don't, and so I have to consider the price point (which is already high for me, perhaps not for others), what I get, and what my own expectations are. Ultimately...

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

I remember watching the Emira vs Cayman video where the Cayman came out on top -- and it's a great car. But while on paper it does a lot of things better -- I'd never really get out of 2nd or 3rd gear based on the ratios they set. I wanted an engaging car, the Emira is geared tighter and lets...

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

In fairness, I didn't play with the KEF system at all... it could have been turned down all the way, who knows? Plus this was a car that was a demo in Europe, not a fully built production model. My presumption is that the driving dynamics and power are probably well set in, the things like the...

No issue that I can tell, though admittedly i wasn’t looking at it much.

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

The issue of power is twofold — one, my comparison is from what my other car is, a Tesla Model X which has instantaneous power delivery, and also — I wasn’t trying to rev out the car to launch harder. As I said, I was testing the car for available power through the band, not launch power. Any...

My guess is Austin, based on the test drive dates folks are posting.

They are tight inside the tunnel, but doesn’t feel uncomfortable once I settled in. I am for sure used to more space but then again, I don’t have a lot of room for comparison as I’ve not had a manual in 10 years. Didn’t have to pee :)

Yes, the test drives were only for deposit holders.

I'm a 90s/2000s alt rock kinda guy, so that's my general playlist :)

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

I think most of the reviews that have come in are from the UK and as such, are a little biased to the pothole situation over there. Dallas isn't the smoothest of roads, but I didn't find the sports suspension bad at all. Based on some reviews, I think the interior cabin noise does pick up a bit...

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

The roads near the dealership weren't well maintained -- but the ones near my house are far, far better and given that's where I'll use it most I don't mind the suspension if it's a little more fun on the track :)

Honestly that was my thought on it -- but if somebody takes it as the green then they know more than me :)

    Road Driving Impressions

Wow, I can actually comment on this! I'll link my driving impressions and video from the other thread: https://www.emiraforum.com/threads/so-i-got-to-take-a-test-drive.1905/ Happy to answer any questions beyond what's posted there :)

Sorry can't -- haven't ridden inside an Evora GT.

Good Qs! I can't say much about the color, I didn't take a lot of notice of it but from a quick glance -- it's a muted color. It doesn't 'pop' in the sun, it seems to be pretty stable and honestly -- pretty much passes for a gray if you're glancing at it. I am getting Magma Red non issue for me...

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Little longer throw -- I think it's just getting used to it, but not a big deal. I haven't had a manual in 10 years so I don't have a lot to compare it to other than a few cars I've driven as friends etc over the years. Porsche's shifts are closer and quicker, but the gearing ratios are taller...

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Running joke is that if the stop sign has a white border it's optional :P In fairness the location is based around office parks so the visibility around was very good. Sorry for the bad angles :)

So I got to take a test drive.... :)

Just came back from the test drive! I have a video (which my face is half blocking, sorry) that I'll upload later. Early impressions -- phenomenal. Power is where I expected it to be, does not throw you back in the seat like other cars but the delivery is linear and solid. Handling, which I got...

    More details for KEF Audio

I am planning to bring a cable to the test drive I have scheduled, so I can validate the stereo. I ordered a BMW X7 and splurged for the Bowers and Wilkins stereo because I love blasting the music while I drive, the Emira will be no different!

    Lotus NFTs Anyone?

I think the purposeful move away from a criticism of crypto to show “hey something else we aren’t talking about!” is a rather tell tale sign that crypto itself cannot be redeemed without comparing it to technologies that have nothing in common with it, and no similar use case. Software...

    Lotus NFTs Anyone?

What is git, if not an aggregation of logged changes? The real complaint folks have is on blockchain and decentralized models, which are not efficient and even more so using Merkle Trees. GitHub is good because it’s centralized, blockchain and every other crypto is bad because it’s...

    Lotus NFTs Anyone?

You named the one tech — Git — whose most efficient use case is in GitHub , a centralized store of a merkle tree, because it isn’t efficient to store in a distributed way. You just made my point for me.

    Lotus NFTs Anyone?

Nick Weaver is great — a few others are Molly White, Kelsey Hightower (one of the founders of Kubernetes), Stephen Diehl and a few others.
