    DIY PPF ?

My PPF could be better. More cut/relief lines than I’d like, and there are a few areas that it doesn’t but up against as closely as I’d like. However, I am glad I did not have the shop disassemble the car to tuck and hide everything. Press-to-fit panels never fit right once they are removed. I...

What to do? 911T plus Base Emira

Why the heck not?!?! The looks are a BIG part of the appeal of the Emira, for me anyway. Sportscars are semi-practical toys, and I want a pretty one! A Cayman GTS 4.0 is probably just about an even match for our Emira’s in everything except looks. In fact, what’s what I would have if the...

Altura vs Emira (Just the looks)

I can’t overstate how critical a manual transmission is to my enjoyment of a sports car. A heavy grand tourer? Who cares. Put the slush box in to crush miles barreling down the highway. But for a sports car, there is almost no level of power I would trade for a manual transmission.

    Larini exhaust users?

On the one hand, I WANT to believe you- I’d love an even more exotic exhaust sound. On the other hand, I don’t want to believe you, because I might just spend almost $3,000 on an exhaust? Did you do 3rd cat delete before Larini?

Altura vs Emira (Just the looks)

Most Ferraris just aren’t that pretty to me. Exciting, athletic, yes. I’d be happy to have one. I’d go so far as to say the last Ferrari design I really like is the F355. For some reason, even the Roma looks a bit like an actualized computer render to me. The shapes are a bit inorganic to my...

Altura vs Emira (Just the looks)

Agree to disagree. It's a pretty car, and I wouldn't turn one down if someone offered to give me one. However, the rear styling is unresolved, and it looks too long in the middle. Also, I'm not sure I actually like the interior. But, that's just like my opinion, man.

Altura vs Emira (Just the looks)

The proportions of the Emira do look a bit “baby supercar”, but oddly, I think the shorter length is actually what makes this design superior (to my eye) to darn near all mid-engined cars on the road today. Most mid engine cars look inherently a bit goofy in profile from the rear of the door...

New MR2 from Toyota v Lotus Emira.

Now that yall mentioned the Evora lines, I can’t unsee it. It’s like the Evora evolved 2 generations. Cool car!

    The inevitable faster Emira

Break in done correctly here. Manual transmission bona fides: Only daily driven manual transmission. Ever. No automatics. Personal car history- 2nd owner high mileage 1991 Taurus SHO as 1st car, owned since new 2006 Mustang GT, and now 2024 Emira. My Mustang, which rolled over 140k miles...

New colours available in Canada for the 2025 V6, available for a limited time, must be ordered by the end of February.

This is what makes Lotus Lotus. It is who Lotus is. Brilliant products despite poor management. Never not a time of uncertainty, always on the brink of bankruptcy, and yet, Lotus persists!

    The inevitable faster Emira

In theory I’d love to have a 2750 lb or less modern Lotus. In practice, that already exists, it’s called an Exige, and I didn’t buy it. In modern times, significantly lighter means significantly smaller. The Emira is about as small as I want. In fact, to me it feels just about the perfect size.

    The inevitable faster Emira

About 3k. It isn't notchy per se, but there are times when shifting quickly at high RPMs that there is more resistance than I would like.

    The inevitable faster Emira

I think the brakes and grip are up to significantly more than the drivetrain is. I see the transmission as the “weak link”. The gear change does not like to be rushed. I’m not abusive to my car- I’ve never “launched” it from a stop. No revving to 5k and sidestepping the clutch, and I always try...

    The inevitable faster Emira

I wish there were a “reasonably” priced manual transmission upgrade for our car. No sequential box stuff, just internals that could take all the abuse you could throw at it at stock power levels. In other words, something built to handle 500 hp and 400 lb ft of torque.

    The inevitable faster Emira

Weight reduction would be great, but I don’t think it’s feasible to reduce the weight enough for there to be a big difference in day-to-day seat of the pants performance. I think it would take a solid 300 lbs sprung weight reduction to feel much of a difference. Less if unsprung and/or rotating...

📓 Journals A sad day.. any help would be welcomed

I would bet money that it is repairable. You’ve got the best sign that it can be fixed- it runs and drives, and there’s not immediately apparent big problems. The parts may take some time to get, but I bet if you are patient it can be put right again.

    The inevitable faster Emira

Here’s my guess: Marginal power bump from a different air intake and more aggressive engine tune. A small change in the side sill/rocker, a front lip and/or rear low profile spoiler, minute changes to the suspension to make it a touch lower and more focused, and a dash plaque. Maybe more...

New MR2 from Toyota v Lotus Emira.

It’s probably not going to be a featherweight, but my guess is it will be relatively light weight. I’m not familiar with all of Toyota’s worldwide product lineup, but I don’t know of any massively powerful FWD cars. So it’s either adopt and adapt an existing FWD drivetrain to a relatively...

New MR2 from Toyota v Lotus Emira.

Cool option! I don’t see it is as the quasi-exotic style sports car the Emira is, but if it’s priced right, it looks like a really neat entry level mid engined car. It may be surprisingly quick. The FRS/86 is a pretty light weight car, so we know Toyota can build light vehicles. Also, I can...

    $1149$ Oil change price

Hear me out. Having done the oil change myself, I can see a dealership charging $500. I think this would still be excessive, but probably what I would expect given that there is disassembly required to change the oil. My price-value-gut says $350-400 would be “fair”, but real world I would...

FS/FT: Red OEM Lotus Emira Brake Calipers – Looking for Yellow

I will say if you can’t find anyone to trade and don’t want to buy OEM, having your stock calipers disassembled and powder coated should give you a good result. I bought unpainted Brembo calipers for my 2006 Mustang GT (same as came stock on 2007+ GT500s) and had them powder coated. I got to...
