Just been offered a C8……dilemma! Help me decide…

Wake up and study the C8 Z06! They took a Ferrari 458 V8 apart, re-engineered it and created a high revving - most powerful NA V8 ever produced. It's a mental car! 100k USD. Mindblowing. Want one so bad, but much harder to get than Emira.

Just been offered a C8……dilemma! Help me decide…

In case it's a Z06....take the corvette! Mental car, unreal, not comparable with Emira. A 458 Ferrari on steroids! In case traditional V8 (non flat plane crank)....take Emira ;-)

The alu tubs are all identical in design. Same for Emira.

I guess we were all right and wrong: I looked into it and my ex-Exige V6 number is 1251kg as measured when it got its license in NL.

Building momentum in (very) positive review

Exige V6 is about the same weight as Emira. At 1300kgs the Exige V6 is also ‘heavy’ in Lotus terms. Exige V6, Evora and Emira all have the same basic chassis setup. So an Emira can be made into a ‘Exige V6’ and that is exactly what I want to do. Love how sharp and responsive the Exige V6 is.

Building momentum in (very) positive review

Simple…I owned a V6 Exige on nitron suspension and lighter forged wheels….it was bloody good both on street and track! One of the best cars I have ever owned. It thought Emira would be even better…wrong expectation! Exige sat in the garage next to a 991.2 Manual GT3…so could outright compare...

Building momentum in (very) positive review

Did you actually drive the Emira? I did…and it was dissapointing given the expectations I had. Same for the journalist who got their hands on it first…their comments were spot on! My former Exige V6 was fantastic and on par with my GT3…great car. Emira…you have to reset expectations, when I...

£82,990 Yellow touring V6 for sale

Buying is always easy...and selling always a pain! So much bla bla bla .... hard to find someone with cash just seeing the opportunity and buy it without much fuss. Story of my life at least....

Fake it til you make it ;-). Not a big fan of using fake carbon plastic on cars. I would opt for black...looks nice as well.

I have found their vids recently and have to state that Throttle House has become one of my favorite car channels on YouTube! Supernice reviews and mixed opinions between them.

Emira vs Ferrari - Still not 100% on which to sell

Sell both...go for the investment...promise yourself a 296 when the investment pays off! It will hurt selling them now....it will be mega sweet to reward yourself for the suffering along the way ;-)

    New wheels by JUBU

Sometimes you can improve a car by adding weight; to increase the 'installation stiffness' of the suspension. Its the secret to championship winning touring cars...plus it can lower the center of gravity and its relative position to the roll centers...

    New wheels by JUBU

With regards of reducing weight. Lowering weight as far as possible away from the center of gravity or roll axis has effect! Putting in a carbon lighter seat helps, but not so much. Hence carbon roofs on BMW M-cars and Porsche GT products...its weight removed far from the center of gravity and...

    New wheels by JUBU

Sure the suspension will feel less weight in terms of unsprung wheight, but the REALLY BIG IMPACT of saving on wheel weight is down to the force needed for high spinning wheels to change their direction! A wheel spinning at high rpm feels like a block of concrete when trying to change its course...

    New wheels by JUBU

Stock items are a big compromise cost vs performance. They got the car right on 'cheap' parts... Change the wheels for lighter forged ones, change the suspension to e.g. Nitron or Ohlins, etc. All done by someone who knows the Lotus cars and setup and it will bring the car to life. I did, on...

Where have you gone instead of Emira?

Wow, sir you certainly have taste! I studied a semester at the Vehicle Research Institute at Western Washington University in Bellingham back in 1996. The professor there was a Wankel and Lotus fan. Drove an RX7 daily but also owned a Lotus Europa with an RX7 engine in it.

Where have you gone instead of Emira?

Wasn't looking for one, but walked into one of the high end dealers over Xmass - just having watched the Evo car of the year video - who received one in Grey Mistero + backpack...3 months old, 2600km. Instantly fell in love. Beautiful car, supercar presence. It's a lot of (super)car for the...

Chris Harris selling his 992 GT3 Touring

To add more on this topic...I like Porsche to allocate GT3 GT3RS GT4RS etc to STG, Harry, Shmee, Chris, Henry, Steve S. etc. Love to read about their opinions and watch their videos. The more content the better for us! And those 5-10 cars aren't really making the difference. If you want a...

Chris Harris selling his 992 GT3 Touring

I think more and more people are getting fed up with the ass kissing and buying lots of other cars from dealers just to get the limited edition model you want...instead of great service for every customer! At least I am... got into a BMW this summer, and upon the first time I had to visit a...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

I have never ever been in a car with such a fat steering wheel? BMW-M cars comes closest, but even those are not like the 'chunk' found in the Emira. I am more Gordon Murray old-school. Can you name a car with a thicker steering wheel than Emira?

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

Most journalist comments have been about turn-in, not necessarily understeer. My old Exige V6 had a lot of understeer on track on cold tires. After 2 or 3 laps the front tires started performing and the understeer was gone. Actually the balance was phenomenal in the fast corners. One of the...

    Aftermarket wheels for the Emira

Ai! Have you ever experienced a bicycle wheel...hold it on one side of the center axle...and try and steer. No problem. Now spin the wheel and try again....it will feel like you are trying to move a 100kgs. Rotational mass has a huge impact on performance. Sure most won't notice. But its too...

    Emira alternatives

Ok, lets take the right perspective...a newly ordered V6 Emira in The Netherlands = 150k eur incl all taxes. It has an old - low tech - engine and is therefore taxed very high because of the solution. A 991.2 GT3 Manual can be bought here for 185-200k. They are not worlds apart price...

    Emira alternatives

Its a 911 - yet a very fast one! An Ariel Atom is also very fast. Great driver by the way! The closest car I have ever had to a GT3, was the Exige V6 ;-) Anyway, lets move on to closer alternatives to Emira. Don't want to upset people further with my opinion and will rest my case for my...

    Emira alternatives

I would definitely look for an Emira in this case. I owned an Exige V6 at the time I signed up for Emira. The way I looked at it: a true lotus, developed and build in Hethel using almost the same chassis, same engine as the excellent old Lotus', brought up to date to 2023 era styling... a...

    Further Delays

I am in line for the 3rd car destined for The Netherlands. Originally an August/September build. With 2 cars delivered by now...next would be mine. So was expecting end of January...to be informed yesterday that my car won't be delivered before April. Crazy only 2 cars for a Lotus minded country...

    Emira alternatives

It doesn't have anything to do with benchmarking. When the budget is there, its about choice. Its more about explaining what you hope(d) it to be. It is not about how much it cost, its about the decisions made by Lotus when developing it. Lotus has an awesome chassis. The car has double...

    Emira alternatives

Not always the expectation and longing is in the amount it costs...its about how it has been developed, how it looks, how it drives. Especially on the road! Some cars are just spot on, irrespective of cost. My GR Yaris is one of those examples...absolutely great car for the money it costs...

So the closest rival to the Emira that I (as in me!) have identified...and what I would have expected from the Emira is the Maserati MC20... Won Evo car of the year 2022. Steve Sutcliffe's review: "Best car I have driven in 10 years"...I continued watching reviews and everyone says its...

What's the appeal? (Emira and Porsche)

I own a daily 991.1 Carrera 2s. Such a brilliant car, does everything so well and build quality is supreme. Own a 991.2 GT3 Manual, and it is the very best 'street race car' money can buy. Mental. Yet don't drive it that much. Owned an Exige V6 and absolutely loved the Lotus DNA: super pure raw...

I have the RS3 engine in my Donkervoort JD70 and it is one of the best sports engines ever produced. Its mental! Prefer it myself by some length over the Ferrari V8 (having owned 458 simultaneously)! So I can see it takes a big leap advantage in terms of best drivers car over the Emira power...
