I assume it's released from the finance company at the point of final commitment - can't see why it's not a thing myself. It's there to protect the buyer, and make them feel more comfortable when they place the deposit.

I was told that explicitly when I placed my deposit, that it goes into a holding account that Lotus has no access to. I have no reason to think they weren't telling the truth. I assume it's so it doesn't get spent should you decide to request a refund! 😂
