The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

Yes, it was only at very low speeds, and it occurred whether turning or going straight, on or off the clutch, slowing down or getting moving. It did not sound like the typical high-pitched LSD whine that I am accustomed to from other cars, but almost more of a crunchy noise. The noise seemed to...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

As a follow-up to my test drive write-up above, here are some pictures that we took! I know we have seen a lot of the same pictures over and over, so I tried to mix in a couple that maybe show off how the light interacts with the body lines from different vantages that we don't typically see the...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

Yes, I am very blessed to be in the position that I am in. I worked 4 jobs (about 110-120 hours per week) for about 2 years to pay off all my family / student debt right out of college. Partially because I had to due to unfortunate family circumstances, and partially to just get rid of the debt...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words! I have always been very passionate about driving, and I would love to keep improving on my skills throughout my life. My mom taught me on her 1990's 5-speed Accord station wagon on the old family farm in the fields when I was about 10 or 11, so credit goes to...

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

I have had a deposit down since Spring 2022, and I had a smile on my face the whole test drive despite some of the little weird things. I am very, very likely to follow through with this purchase unless prices go up a ton. Enjoyed it more than the 981 I drove, but have never driven a 718. Going...

I am 6 feet tall, but with a shorter torso and longer legs. Had plenty of head room. I might have adjusted the seat to go just a tiny bit lower if it was possible, but the angles of my legs, body never felt uncomfortable.

Lotus Emira Test Drive Specs: Alcantara seats (no stripes), sports suspension, goodyears I had a 20-minute test drive, a bit of stop/ start, some hills and turns in the backroads. Background.... I am freshly 26 years old. Definitely one of the youngest ones on the forum here. I have driven an...

    Corvette C8

I dont own one so I am sure someone who does can chip in better. I have driven one, it was super quick and handled great, but the handling was like playing a video game in my opinion. Little feedback or resistance and went right where you put it. Could be good or bad, depending on how you feel...

I am test driving Saturday!! (Western NY)

I am firmly into base v6 range, didn't deposit until Spring of 2022. I feel very blessed to be able to test drive BEFORE I place a final order (and hopefully see new colors on the configurator), which is a luxury that I feel very few may have/ have had so far. I feel a bit guilty for test...

    Potential exhaust mod?

Road legal? Not sure sound-wise, but that shouldn't realistically be an issue unless your thrashing around at 8 am in your neighborhood. In the US (except California) it would still pass emissions I believe. My county doesnt even require emissions testing but has another 120+ point safety...

    Potential exhaust mod?

3rd cat delete was very common for evora. Should be for Emira, as well.

US buyer. Any guess when I can expect delivery?

As an American waiting for a base edition v6... I'd be careful with the new corvettes. I cross-shopped briefly (never really wanted to give up manual but thought I should give everything a fair shake) and they seem to have horrible reliability. I have a coworker who was tired of his c7 (z06, I...

So you think climate change is a big hoax

This really isn't the place for this, maybe move it to a place with less breathing room, like a private messaging chain. I can only speak for myself, but I get enough political conflict in my day-to-day life and work... cars are an escape for me (even as stressful as this Lotus waiting game can...

Dilemma Second Hand NSX 100K or New Emira?

Just saw one over the weekend, and maybe it was just because it was white, but I thought the same thing. Almost didn't look twice until I realized what I was looking at! Kind of a shame, I am a big Honda fan. Still, I would take one if someone offered haha

So is it a great car?

Comparing stats is important, but the way I look at it is this: the Emira is 1 of 2 options for buying a new, manual, mid-engined car. If all those factors are important to you, the looks, exclusivity, and proven reliability (specifically of the drivetrain components) outweigh a GTS. If one or...

So is it a great car?

I am kind of thinking the opposite, I feel like when this is close to your max you have a lot of anxiety about it being extremely good and the absolute best choice. If it is my third or fourth, I may not care so much cuz I still have other options!

What are you driving until the Emira arrives?

Careful, I had a 2016 STi (with the ej25, obviously)... went boom at 39k, completely stock, on cruise control... $18k for parts, covered completely by the warranty. Fixed incorrectly by my dealer, took it straight back. Picked it up again, parked it in my driveway, and didn't touch it til it was...

2025 Deadline with Production starting in 2023?

Not sure how these two jive, if that is an implication that I am trying to persuade others to not get an Emira? Genuinely not sure what you're getting at, but that's okay, I wasn't trying to argue! Just wish I had some sort of promise that I would eventually be receiving one and not possibly...

2025 Deadline with Production starting in 2023?

Well that is the thing... I also don't care if I wait til '25... or 26, etc. I want an Emira, not a 718, or I wouldn't be here! But I DONT want to wait til '25 and NOT get one.

2025 Deadline with Production starting in 2023?

Weird, thought this was a forum specifically for generally discussing Emiras, under a subtopic of "Lotus Emira Talk!" That comment is burning some 1s and 0s, too! 😬 In all seriousness, many people can contribute information (or calculated speculations) that can help us all to prepare, manage...

2025 Deadline with Production starting in 2023?

This is not what I like to hear. I am pretty late to the party... deposit in April of this year. That math isn't too far off from my estimates, but worse. I'd be extremely upset to wait and watch delays for years to find out I am not getting one, AND missed an opportunity to have a 718.

2025 Deadline with Production starting in 2023?

I have seen rumors going around on here that by model year 2025 (essentially end of production year 2024), the v6 Emira will be phased out due to emissions. Hopefully someone can confirm or deny this with some level of certainty. However, my concern is that since we have basically all accepted...

Yeah, I think we can all agree the communication is terrible. I just at least saw SOME effort, which I didn't want to look down on. Hoping that recognition will encourage further improvements. But I also understand your frustration, and your viewpoint is certainly valid and understandable.

    emira acceleration

This is going to be my only contribution to this sub-argument, but if we are talking specs per price, no car will ever be able to beat superbikes. 0-60 in low 2 seconds, 1/4 mile in 10s, top speed de-limited in the 210 mph range... bought used for around $10k. But, the same reason not everyone...
