The issue with the Emira doors is that they are very "thick" due to the form of the "aero design". I had issues parking next to cars and had to be very careful when opening the doors. So I can fully imagine that some garages might be pretty tight.

Not a bad idea generally speaking. I did stretch that a little bit and honestly am not too worried about it. It's a general "best practise" recommendation most manufacturers have.
