    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

I will reserve final judgement and purchase decision til after test drive, whenever demos arrive at dealers. I think with all the promo videos we have seen with Lotus being on various tracks/courses, a lot of us expected high performance coupled with good looks. Based on reviews so far, they...

    Reviews, Opinions and Emotions

@FederGigant - I’ll offer a different take on what you said here. And this is not meant to be argumentative as we are all enthusiasts and have our own opinions. This is my first time seriously considering a Lotus after almost 20 years being in BMW and Porsche camp. I have watched countless...

    Reviews, Opinions and Emotions

Definitely mixed reactions for me for sure. Reviews are mostly good but it’s not overwhelming. I would expect reviews to be glowingly positive and the Emira doing everything a Porsche 718 GTS can do, if not better. Think about it: a car that performs as well as the 718 GTS, more exotic, and is...

    First review

I was thinking the same just now! Give us enthusiasts a chance to review these cars, especially those that haven’t had Lotuses but have been in the car world for 20 years.

    First review

That’s a review but also not really a review. Give us a real review by a car enthusiast!

    Review embargo

So we can expect reviews to go live today at 4 PM Pacific Standard Time (12 AM BST)?

    Review embargo

+1 I cringed when I saw the bugs and marks on the show car.

OK. Be honest. Looks or Performance?

A combination of all the it factors for me. It’s like meeting a very attractive woman but she has the personality of a potato. Sure you can date her for a while but you will quickly get bored of the looks. In short, not only does the outside matter, the inside and everything else too.

    Review embargo

I am in the same boat: Emira vs GTS 4.0. Leaning towards the former but it comes down to quality for me. As mentioned in various posts, the communication and marketing have been crappy. Also don’t understand how the car isn’t finalized, and latest pictures of spotted cars don’t look that...

    Magma sighting today

Front right gap looks large but possible parked on a dip.

Seen 2 cars on the road Saturday alone

The colors looked washed out and the cars a bit plain in that video. I liked the white in Top Gear’s and other videos. In this one it looked very plain.

    Competitors

I considered the GTS 4.0 and GT4 but much prefer the looks of Emira. It would also be more “exotic” vs run of the mill Porsches. With all the lack of communication by Lotus, I was very close on putting down a deposit on a Porsche though. I do like them for quality and performance. I am a big...

    Possible further delays

Don’t know. I reached out to them this morning on that topic. He said they’ll start taking orders end of the year (specs and such after the configurator for base is up). Asked if that means we’ll see deliveries in Summer or Fall and was told earlier than that. Demo cars will arrive in August. FWIW.
  14. C

    Possible further delays

We should be able to spec the base model on the configurator in the next few months, with deliveries mid 2023. If the same delays for 2022 persist, then we could be looking at August 2023.

    Emira Car Covers

I’ve heard covers scratching the paint. So be careful and use one at your own risk.

    New video from Lotus Thailand

doesn’t it look a bit short/pinched from various angles?
  17. C

    Possible further delays

What about for base V6 models? Hopefully they’ll offer it then as it’ll make it a bit more streamlined: pick up the car and you’re ready to go. I plan on PPF and then graphite/ceramic coat it.

My garage transformation for the Emira

Very niiice! Looks like a great little home for the junior.

    Privacy Glass

my thought is to get non privacy glass and tint it aftermarket. In California we need at least 70% light transmission on the driver and passenger side windows. It’ll be good to have uniformity across at 70% light transmission (with the engine bay perhaps a tad darker because it’s larger and will...

    Possible further delays

How is the automatic transmission in Lotus. I drive a Macan S now with PDK and that thing is lightning fast. I go back and forth on the manual for the Emira. Thinking the auto would make the most sense for Bay Area traffic. I heard from a Lotus friend that it’s okay. We also don’t get the LSD...

    Ride height

I’ve wondered about a yellow exotic looking sports car in the Bay Area. We do have a lot of wealth here so it’s nothing too crazy. As long as we don’t drive like an ass, attention from cops will be low. Attention from others, however, well…we can’t control it.

    Possible further delays

Interesting. Local dealer (in California) said production for base V6 starts in first part of 2023 with deliveries starting in Spring.
  23. C

    Possible further delays

So we can expect V6 base models to be delivered June-August 2023? Originally expected Spring which could be up to about June 20th. Given it’s a year out, can one now pick the car up in England and drive it around UK or Europe?

    Insurance quotes and availability (Aus/NZ)

i called Geico and Amica to get quotes few months ago. Used a Porsche GT4 VIN and Evora VIN in order for quotes to populate. I got something like $2-2.5K for 5,000 miles a year. This will be a weekend car and will likely be much less considering I drive 6-7K miles a year.

Why no petrol particulate filter on V6?

So all V6 models on the Emira will not have PPF? Or is it only the FE version?

Hethel Yellow Lotus Emira Photo Thread

I go back and forth on black vs non-bp. Seems like it’s easier to wrap the roof black vs wrapping it in body colored film. Anyone on the fence as well?

Let's start a fight, shall we?!

I was looking for this exact comparison but didn’t find it. Thank you for sharing! So question is: will there be an Emira GT and if so, when? There seems to be an 11 years difference between Evora (2008) and Evora GT (2019).

    Future Emira colors

Or do any factory tour and you’ll see the same. We did one with BMW in Munich. They took us into a room where painted bodies are waiting for engines and they were virtually all black, white, and grey with one or two reds and blues.

    EMIRA in Bay Area CA.

I have a deposit with Boardwalk Lotus in RWC beginning of September. Communication has been sparse to none, especially in the last 4-5 months. Once I reached out, Tom was very apologetic and gave me all the info I’ve gathered on here. Nothing else since then. I go back and forth on Emira vs GT4...

TopGear Mag interview with Matt Windle

I don’t see why quality and good communication have to be one or the other. Quality and building cars fall on engineering and production, whereas communication is on the marketing/PR department.

TopGear Mag interview with Matt Windle

Being a first time client to Lotus, the communication has put me on the fence because I’ve lost much of the interest and excitement. Haven’t heard anything since last September except for the time I reached out to see if I got on the FE wagon. Other than that, nothing from Lotus or the dealer.

Not long to wait…… Autocar drive review on March 9

I saw that, and it was expected. The fallout might be unstoppable now. Just made me wonder if Lotus is looking at it as a learning lesson.

Not long to wait…… Autocar drive review on March 9

I wonder how much of a price bump it would be for V6 non-FE. Rivian raised their prices due to cost increase and lots of people canceled. Investors don’t like it and that is reflected in their stock. I don’t think Lotus will raise it substantially but you never know. It might be higher than a...

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

They should have just let their cars do it. Surely the cars could have handled it better.

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

I was only thinking about large dealers. Smaller ones will get less and even larger ones will get a bit more. But nobody is getting hundreds of FE V6 cars.

Hello from the San Francisco Bay Area - Anyone hear of allocations from your local dealers?

I’m in South Bay and just updated with some latest info from Boardwalk in RWC. It’s all in the thread that VL3X shared.

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

Spoke to Tom at Boardwalk. Looks like anyone after mid-August will be in the second batch of V6, non-FE for delivery next Spring. Here’s a summary of details. - depending on size of your dealer, allocations are anywhere from 30-50. In this case, Boardwalk is getting 40. They have started...

Awesome!! How’s the weather in Scotland this time of year? Thinking of visiting in the next month or so.

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

Seems like Tom is the main Lotus guy there. His subordinate who took my deposit and whom I have been communicating with hasn’t shared much. I hate having to reach out every so often for updates vs the dealer proactively updating their clients.

U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

good to hear! I reached out to Boardwalk here in California a few weeks ago stating that I have had no updates from them since last September. They apologized for the lack of info. To date I have not heard any updates other that what I read on here. Sounds like this is typical of Lotus?
