Cars and Coffee events in So Cal

This is our sister club in SD. I would have likely joined, but I'm actually in SD for the weekend for a dodgers game and other shenanigans. Dan and team always put on a good show. You'll have a blast for sure. BTW, for anyone interested, LCOSC (Lotus Club of So Cal) also has a drive and...

Removing factory seat and installing Tillet B10-tips and tricks

@mr.suntorytime Your seats just look perfect. I forget, are you in so cal? I really have to meet up at some point to check them out in detail.

What did you do to your Emira today?

My i4 didn't even have them. We looked for them and couldn't find them when we swapped the exhaust out.

One Year & 14,000 Miles in a Lotus Emira V6 Manual

More importantly, what Lotus ownership is NOT about. Probably the best Emira piece to date.

Removing factory seat and installing Tillet B10-tips and tricks

@jp129 For sure, I don't think anyone has ever doubted the comfort and feel of being more "held in place" at the track. My rub is the damn passenger side errors. Although, I'm starting to wonder if I can just live with the driver's side as you have elected to do.

    Aerie Titanium Exhaust V2

I think it's important to note that they are totally different designs. In fact, there's an argument that your and the other failures referenced may have sparked the Emira v2 design change. If you look at the v2 design, it abandons what is clearly a muffler box weak point (per your and other...

    Matt Windle leaves Lotus

Sorry guys, but I don't think someone from Geely only concerned with stopping the bleeding or worse, looking at what is "sellable" (and I'm not talking cars) is going to be much better. In fact, it has the potential to only get worse. As much as many here think MW was incompetent, try doing...

    Door Handle Failure

Funny, and all we hear in the US is, "yeah, we'll have to get back to you on the timing of that part. It's likely coming from the UK."
  15. F

    Door Handle Failure

...and if we're being honest, you as the owner will be a lot more careful (even if not as skilled/familiar with) than any tech. working on it. This is why it's important to always think about what else will be broken/damaged trying to fix topic A before deciding if you should take it in.

    Aerie Titanium Exhaust V2

They do not. I'm guessing Eagle 7's car is a v6.

    Aerie Titanium Exhaust V2

If there's any HP increase, I'd say it's negligible. It was really about getting a bit more sound given the stock exhaust is super quiet and weighs a ton. I would definitely do it again and learned a few things from my install that would make the install easier.
  18. F

    Aerie Titanium Exhaust V2

Quite a few people have it, including me. You'll likely need the exhaust valve motor calibration done.

    📓 Journals Adding Lightness

There are a bunch of us over on our side of the pond that are still waiting. Greg's last public post (fairly recent) was that he had a friend chipping away at it, but no cigar to date. Trust me when I say, there are many people waiting for this fix in order to buy CF bucket seats. It's...

GoFastBits (GFB) Atmospheric Blow Off Valve (BOV)

So I finally installed my GFB BOV today and just wanted to mention the following for anyone else who does this mod. I noticed 2 of the 3 OE valve bolts seemed to be “sticky” when I removed them. Almost felt like they were cross threaded. However, I noticed they had some red residue on them...

New Source for Tactile Steering Wheel Buttons - ships to U.S.

Hopefully this was just a miss on the selling website's part and not a commentary on the "reliability" of this new selling source. I agree, at least you know they are likely en-route.

    📓 Journals kitkat's Emira

You also have to consider the specifics. kitkat is right, on "slicks" the weight increase is certainly less (1 lb. in his specific case). However, if you take the more common threaded "streetable track" tire options and compare equivalent diameter and widths, the weight addition is likely...

  24. F

    📓 Journals kitkat's Emira

That's exactly what I'm saying. Just go to your friendly neighborhood tire shop and grab the OE tire size (20") and then grab an 18" tire size equivalent (I.e., rolling diameter equivalent will have a higher sidewall also make sure it's a width equivalent). When and if you do this, you will be...

    📓 Journals kitkat's Emira

I've mentioned this before, Tire rubber is dense and heavy. Overall, you largely end up around the same weight. I think for real track rats, the benefit is usually a broader selection of track oriented rubber. You have a heck of a lot more choices at sub 20" diameter.

Agreed, similar experience here, I needed a diffuser in a pinch a few months back and the OE option literally had no ETA other than it had to come from the UK. Greg came to the rescue with one of his in-stock CF rear diffusers. From order to in-hands was about 3 days. Oh, and to bring it...

    Seats how to lower

Steve, if there's any way you can work with Greg at GRP to test, that would be great. I know he has a few customers that bought the seats despite the error light(s) for the passenger side that he can likely work with. If you and Greg can solve for this, it'll be like solving world peace with a...

EVO: BMW M2 v Porsche Boxster GTS v Lotus Emira v Alpine A110 v Ford Mustang

"twitchy" from a driver's review perspective usually means prone to tram lining or grippy to slight steering wheel movements. It can definitely be tuned out with additional "toe-in". For anyone interested, more "toe-out" would create a condition where the car is more prone to tram lining.

EVO: BMW M2 v Porsche Boxster GTS v Lotus Emira v Alpine A110 v Ford Mustang

This. I know this is taboo, but all car rags favor who advertises with them and to some extent, any large car manufacturer (given they have deep pockets). It is absolutely easy to crap all over Lotus, they don't have the resources to respond. It's that simple.

Recommendations for clutch fluid replacement interval

It's actually quite the opposite. If you track at all, I would be doing this at least annually, but better yet every 6 months. This is nothing new. There has been (and apparently continues to be) a chronic problem with master cylinder failures aggravated by boiled fluid. It's been beat to...

EVO: BMW M2 v Porsche Boxster GTS v Lotus Emira v Alpine A110 v Ford Mustang

Totally agree. I've mentioned this in a couple of different contexts. Unfortunately, even some owners aren't good at conveying where concerns really lay. The reality is Lotus has put out and continues to put out incredible cars with incredible value especially when compared to the cars that...

@MapleOreo Thanks, but unfortunately that doesn't work for us in the US. @benjh1028 Let us know when the parts come in and if they are new and functional when you test them. If so, I think we may have finally found a new source.

    Coilover options for i4

Nitron is likely running "beta" versions with repeat customers or shops that have a relationship with them. I know in So. Cal there's at least one shop working on different spring rates with Nitron for the i4. I'm guessing they are waiting for as much feedback as possible before releasing...

new 2024 Meridian for 5 K off sticker

@Kalel Not a good deal. For starters, dealers were already giving 5-7K off prior to Lotus's trunk money offer ($2.5K-3K) that started a month or two ago. If you start with the lower end of the discounts that were being offered months ago which is $5k and add another $2.5K of the Lotus trunk...
