    Lotus introduces ‘Lotus Chapman Bespoke’

Can they make me an Emira Spider?

Strange pop when I open the door after its been sitting a bit..?

Mine does that too, sometimes. It’s pretty weird. No idea what it is, though, sorry!

V6s don't have it. I’d love to know why. Maybe it’s the same reason we don’t get nav here in Oz, despite the First Edition being promoted as having “everything”.

Supercar you would take instead of the Emira

296GTS. Which is four times the price of the Emira. Honestly, there is nothing within cooee of the Emira price wise that is anywhere near as desirable. I‘m not a Porsche guy. None of them at any price are as desirable as the Emira, so the standard “just buy a Cayman / 911“ is irrelevant to...

    Emira Titanium exhaust interest...

Excellent. Can you add the Aerie lightweight wheels to that chart? That would make the total close to 100lb I would think (with the antigravity battery as well). And all without voiding the warranty!

I agree with you. There are a couple of definite blind spots (particularly over the driver’s shoulder) and I think it is a shame Lotus failed to fit monitoring. That said I‘m extremely grateful it doesn’t have any of the other PITA nannying tech that ruins so many modern cars.

    Daily Driving

Mine is manual and sport chassis and it works perfectly fine as a DD. Both my wife and I regularly drive it to work or just normal running around and it’s great. in tour mode it’s quiet and comfortable. Sure, the ride is “busy” on poor road surfaces, but so what? It’s a sports car. If I want...

    Emira Titanium exhaust interest...

Great, thanks. Has anyone contacted that company to see if they are planning a system for the Emira?

    Emira Titanium exhaust interest...

Agreed. That sounds superb. I don’t want the Emira to sound like a road car V12. I want it to sound like an old school F1 car - like my old 355 sounded. Spine-tingling! My biggest issue with any of these mods is warranty. You’d have to be crazy (or rich enough to not care) to do anything...

    Cold start stalling

Here’s a vid that shows what my car does on a cold start. Note I had to edit out the 5-10 second gap between start attempts as the file was too large, but it shows the failed first start and the perfect second start. At this stage Lotus seem to be pretty clueless. The software update certainly...

    Lightweight battery

I‘m keen to purchase one of these batteries, but when I enter the address for shipping it quotes over $700USD for shipping to Australia. Lol. Does anyone know if there’s an Aussie distributor for these?

    Stock Emira Wheels and Tires

Titanium replacement lugs / bolts have been around for years for Ferraris (and no doubt other cars, but that’s where my knowledge lies) from extremely reputable companies, and I’m not aware of any issues at all. Beyond the cost, anyway! :) I‘ll definitely get a set along with the light-weight...

Emira Lightweight Alloy Forged Wheels by Aerie Performance

Wow! I love those. Hmm. I do have a birthday coming up…

    Emira looks

I predict the Emira will be the equivalent of the Ferrari 355, 458, (and 246 Dino). The gorgeous looks, handling, and proper old school nature of it will make it an absolute classic. And it will appreciate, in the long term. Chasing and caring about performance numbers is a mugs game. There...

    Cold start stalling

Oh, btw, I don’t touch the throttle at all during the start procedure. I tried it once when it was spluttering and it died instantly. I don’t believe you should need to touch the accelerator with any properly set up modern car, especially one with a push button start.

    Cold start stalling

It’s certainly not cold weather related here. :) I received my car in the depths of winter and it had no starting issues for the first 2500km. Not sure if it had something to do with one of the updates it’s received (there had been two before this latest one), but this problem did seem to come...

    Cold start stalling

Ok, an update. After picking the car up and driving it home I went away for a week. Started it for the first time yesterday. No difference, I’m afraid. Still the same stuttering and spluttering for 5-10 seconds before it finally caught and idled normally. I then drove to work where the car sat...

    Lightweight seats

Definitely. I’m roughly 85kg, so a 60kg owner has about $20k worth of weight saving over me right from the start! And probably $100k worth over a 150kg owner! :ROFLMAO: Or, if you don‘t fill the tank over half way there’s 20kg over someone who always fills up, and so on. That said, I’m all...

New software update released - has anyone had it yet?

They just need to make it optional. Easy to turn off or easy to turn on. It’s annoying when something I didn’t ask for that wasn’t there yesterday is there today. And I wasn’t even told about it. There seems to be an arrogance with so many things these days that because someone arbitrarily...

New software update released - has anyone had it yet?

Ok. I’ll see what I find with it. After all, since the update I’ve only driven the car home from the dealer! As I said, I never apply the park brake on a slope anyway and still manage to move off without rolling backwards. It’s not that hard. I guess it could be handy on a really steep slope...

New software update released - has anyone had it yet?

I get what you’re saying, but I wouldn’t put the parking brake on in that situation unless I’m half way up a cliff! Anyway, I felt it working today not only when I was on a hill. it seemed to come on even when moving off from level, so the clutch has to fight against it and then there’s a...

    Use of electric parking brake

It is in a sub-menu in car settings. You can select to have it come on / off automatically or not. I think it only comes on / off automatically if you leave the car in neutral (when parking) but someone else may correct that.

New software update released - has anyone had it yet?

I’ll give it a fair go before I decide. I’ve had it on several cars (including current ones) but I usually turn it off. This is the first time I’ve had in on a manual car, though. First impression is that it feels unnatural, and can’t be good for clutch wear. The slightly irritating thing is...

New software update released - has anyone had it yet?

I‘ve had no other issues at all. The car would always start the second time. No warning lights or anything else. Re the auto hold, it would be nice if Lotus gave owners a summary of what has been done / changed each software update rather than having to wait to experience something on the drive...

New software update released - has anyone had it yet?

Possible thread overlap here (I posted in the cold start stalling thread) but mine has had the update as well. Definitely noticed the hill start assist on the way home (or auto hold or whatever it’s called). To be honest I’m not sure I like it. I’m not a fan of it on any of the cars I have...

    Cold start stalling

Ok just picked up the car. It has had the latest software update that came in last night. They are expecting the issue to be fixed but obviously want feedback over the next couple of weeks. I’m going away tomorrow so won’t be able to check, but my wife will probably drive it once or twice so...

    Cold start stalling

That’s what we’re all doing. We can only report what we‘re each experiencing and try to help. I had no issues at all until around 2500km in.

    Cold start stalling

That is interesting, as the one question they asked me yesterday was what fuel I use. I answered that 90% of the time I use BP98. They said that’s good, because there have been problems with cars using Shell fuel! :ROFLMAO: It’s worth noting though that there are big differences between one...

    Cold start stalling

They still have the car. They are speaking to Lotus who are obviously aware of the issue. Should know more tomorrow but I got the impression they may want to keep the car for a while, which is fine with me as I’m going away for a week or so. Perhaps the aforementioned update is what they are...

Well, the car goes in tomorrow morning. Will report what they find.

    Cold start stalling

Wow. That is interesting. My car is going to the dealer next week after I described this issue. They said they’d do a software update and then if the problem persists look into it further. As I’ve said previously I “always“ use BP98 and until a month or so ago had not had this problem at...

Zinc or Osmium? Black or silver wheels?

Superb. Love it. 👍 Although I am absolutely 100% happy with my spec, that is the only one I’ve seen that could tear me away from it. If there’s a “final edition”, I think that’s how I’d spec it.
  34. Steve24

Zinc or Osmium? Black or silver wheels?

I prefer the spec you’ve chosen as well. Just out of curiosity how does it look without the upper black pack?
  35. Steve24

Zinc or Osmium? Black or silver wheels?

That is a really nice colour. That with silver wheels would look superb, IMO.
  36. Steve24

Zinc or Osmium? Black or silver wheels?

Isn’t it funny how different peoples opinions can be? I absolutely despise black wheels, on any car. Silver wheels would look superb with that colour. The diamond cut also look good. Never black. That said, each to their own of course. It’s your money. Do what you like. 👍

    Manual shifting improvements

I personally find the gearchange fine. Much better now than early on (After 3000km). That said, I knew going in that it wasn’t going to be anything like a DCT! When a chose an old school manual I knew what to expect, and I think it’s pretty good all things considered.
  38. Steve24

    Cold start stalling

Now I’ve got this issue as well. I’ve done nearly 3000km in the car and it never happened for the first 2500km. Now, every cold start is a stuttering, spluttering affair that sometimes “catches” and continues running but more often stops. Second start attempt totally normal. The car has...

How bad will the Emira depreciation be?

Exactly what I was going to say. Anyone who routinely buys a new car and sells after a year is surely going to lose big time most of the time. The Emira will likely be no different. I think the enthusiasm for the car on release and the state of the market at the time encouraged a lot of...

~30 HP more power and a tad more nimbleness?

The main question I have (although I wouldn’t do any engine mods while the car is in warranty) is that we constantly hear that the gearbox is the weak link. What can you do to make it more robust if it’s suddenly having to handle 460hp / 490Nm?
