Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

Agreed. My understanding is the troublesome panels with this car were made by the same manufacturer, and that manufacturer does not make the front bumper. I’m sure someone here with more experience on this subject can confirm.

    Emira vs Blackwing

If you can't keep both, but you feel this strongly about the Blackwing (which, why wouldn't you?! It's phenomenal), I'd say keep the BW and only trade to an Emira or something similar when the BW is no longer appealing to you. It's not worth rolling the dice when you already feel so strongly...

    Shifting in V6 manual

Same. I downshift just about any chance I get, but will not do so into first. Maybe there are folks that have mastered this, but it’s the only downshift that feels abusive to me.

Dang - hard to believe. Probably good news for residuals on the final production Caymans though. Car & Driver article linked here.

    Shifting in V6 manual

This is the practical answer (and not wrong). But i'll provide another answer: a well executed downshift where you blip the throttle isn't too tough on the transmission/clutch. The "rip" of the engine just elicits something primal in me that makes it worth whatever small added wear it causes...

    Radar Detector hardwire?

Has anyone bought and used the Escort Maxcam 360c and found it to: 1.) Be powered adequately by the USB port on the mirror with a 5v to 12v connector, and 2.) Worth the (very steep) price? Ideally, I'd like to have my radar detector and camera all in one unit, and the options for something...

    Hethel Daily Build Numbers?

For reference (thanks AI!): Porsche produced nearly 23,600 Boxster/Cayman vehicles globally in the 2023 fiscal year. That makes the Emira quite rare indeed.

Water drains into the engine bay if hatch is opened when car is wet?

This is my concern with using a leaf blower to dry the car after a wash - I'm worried we're pushing water into places it shouldn't go. On a "normal" car this wouldn't concern me, but the Emira seems to have some water ingress issues.

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

I have not found what ship it is on. My understanding from @Nova's tracker (and I could be wrong), is the ship date is when it left the port in the UK - the specific ship and arrival port information is not known to me.

Thanks to @Nova, for keeping the tracker updated. I found out my car is on the 7/4 shipment. My car has declared its independence from Britain on the 4th of July - that feels fitting. 😂 Is anyone watching that ship, or am I able to do this on my own to see when it is expected to arrive?

    Never will sell that car

New seats seem like a relatively small investment if that is the only gripe. I'm sure the Emira community would love your feedback on this too, since seats seem to be a pretty common concern. I've been in your situation before with a car too though, and maybe it's not just one thing (seats)...

    Harry sells his Emira

I still didn’t get a good sense for “why” and it sounds like he has more of a problem with the direction Lotus is going (electric) than the car itself. A bit of a head scratcher for me, especially given how much he fawned over the car. My guess is he had some falling out with Lotus. The...

Vivid red too, so not fixed with newer / 2.0 models. This does look like a QC issue though and maybe not the same thing as the paint blistering others are seeing?

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

How does a car company go from one generation (Exige) to the next (Emira) and not correct an issue like this? It must cost them millions in repairs and creates such negative customer sentiment. How hard is it to not have a faulty composite panel, and why do some seem to not have this issue when...

    First Oil Change Service???

I'll be changing mine early - probably at close to 1k miles - but I will still question my own decision. How many Camry V6 owners do you think change their oil at the 1k mark? I'm guessing a number close to zero, and yet I imagine many of those cars have 200k+ miles with less than perfect...

Income/Finances needed to justify Emira purchase?

I wouldn't buy an Emira if I was in your situation, but that's just one datapoint, so take it for what it's worth. A car is almost always a depreciating asset - or said differently, you're likely to have a higher return investing somewhere else. I also wouldn't pay off my house, as I earn...

That assumes they have the financial means to continue to provide warranty repairs. This is a very costly repair, and for a bigger brand this wouldn't concern me, but for Lotus, it does.

So if they're replacing "old" doors, one would assume that the "new" door is based on some new QC or manufacturing process that won't allow this to happen again, right? How do we find out if this is true?
