Emira Test Drive by Forum Member

Excellent write up and pictures. That pretty much looks like the samples I saw during the tour in May, it’s only green from some angles and looks more like a metallic black from many angles. I was really settled on DV but I’ve moved back the the grays which is my typical color palette. Really...

US Exchange Rates - Purchase impact?

Global manufacturers use more long range FX averaging and don't tie pricing to daily/weekly/monthly trends. They do, however, report FX and it's effect on their earnings reports. I suspect prices in the US will be adjusted up due to overall inflation though the current valuation may blunt that...

    DARK VERDANT!?

Part of the problem may well be a paint quality issue. I say that because I saw a DV set of panels close up in May on the factory tour and the orange peel was quite bad. I mean really bad to the point it makes a Corvette paint job look good. Considering it’s an entirely new paint process it’s...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Exactly! I’ve made the comment that the Spyder is simply too good to really generate the levels of excitement on public roads that I have have experienced with lesser cars. That’s usually greeted with confused looks and certainly something I would never had said 20 years ago. My hope is the...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

I don’t need another daily driver or sports car as I have a number of other “toys” to occupy my leisure time. If I keep the Spyder (PDK) the Emira V6 manual is my preferred option. We are considering replacing the Spyder and our Model 3 Performance with a Taycan CT 4S leaving a spot in the...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

I’m in a bit of a spot regarding my reservation. Technically being late to the party, not placing reservation until March, an FE was always off the table but I was given a high degree of confidence I would be able to place an order for a Base car in early to mid 2023 so I placed my reservation...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Why is it so difficult for people to understand the difference between a reservation and an order? The $2500 “Reservations” were all supposed to be refundable. At least one dealer here in FL basically flipped Lotus their middle finger and demanded a $5000 non-refundable deposit, they didn’t...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Pretty much expected considering reservations are refundable up until an actual order is placed in most parts of the world. IMHO, Had all reservation deposits been non-refundable the 10,000+ “supposed” deposits would be a lot closer to 5000 and no one would be worrying about getting a car in...

How much will they jack up 2023 Base MSRP?

As for pricing, when they set the US price the £1.00 = $1.36, todays exchange rate is 1.19. If they had a car to deliver today they would make 11% more than they would have 6 months ago. Still doesn’t mean they won’t Jack our prices too.

How much will they jack up 2023 Base MSRP?

Standard features for Base versions are published in the configurator. Have been for quite a while.

Technically it’s considered to be of Pennsylvania Dutch origin and it’s mid-Atlantic regional. I just know it as a Philly thing from living in South Jersey from high school through college.

    Z06 pricing announced.... ouch

Exactly…. I’ve already come to grips that my V6 Manual Base is going to be just under $100k OTD when it’s all said and done and I don’t expect I’ll be the odd ball config.

    Z06 pricing announced.... ouch

Sweet spot config, 2LT Z06/Z07 + required aero package and nose lift comes in at ~$135,000 + destination + tax + registration and title so well over $140,000 OTD. OUCH! But, considering the hand build, bespoke motor and the performance envelope this plays in that’s not really all that bad.

    No FE fo me

I was told they got 70 FE’s by the salesman who took my deposit.

    No FE fo me

Yes, something doesn't line up here. I guess it's time to call someone in authority there, sales people don't seem to be reliable.

    No FE fo me

I don’t think I would be as calm about this revelation as you appear to be. They claimed they had 70 FE allocations in March when I contacted them. You said in an earlier post you were “in the 60’s” on their list yet through some slight of hand you didn’t make the cut. Well this confirms my...

Anyone in US have a delivery date yet?

If your number is over 200 @ Galpin it’s likely your looking at a 2024 delivery unless there’s some miracle and Lotus increases production and allocations.

Update from Lotus (Australia) re delivery, production, base models, i4FE etc... (email pics attached)

Not sure how it’s done in OZ but I doubt it’s substantially different than the US and EU. The fact it’s an existing engine and trans is irrelevant. Aside from it being in a completely new car, every model year of existing models must be certified independently. Even if they shipped 10,000 2022...

    Let's clarify the term "GT4"

And my point is it appears the sanctioning body is changing the spec for 2023. Porsche has indicated the GT4RS is built to homologation spec and is publishing 500PS. BMW has announced a 550PS capable M4 GT4 race car (depending on regulations) and Lotus drops a GT4 with 400PS? Talk about...

    Let's clarify the term "GT4"

One would assume the competition all up their game. Every one of them has more HP on tap. Most are detuned to meet regulations. In IMSA the Ford GT was detuned from 640HP to 500HP to meet regulations. The street car on slicks is significantly faster that the dedicated GTLM car. But that’s...

    Lotus Emira at LOG41.

I suppose showing up in a 718 Spyder (GT4 without a roof) would be in bad taste  . Just kidding, that will probably be sold by then. Maybe we'll just fly up and rent something so we can see, and drive, the car.

Lotus increased interest rate from 5.9% to 6.9%

Lotus isn’t a bank, I’m pretty sure, even in the UK, you aren’t financing with them, simply through them even if it’s through a captive finance subsidiary. The dealer/manufacturer processes the paperwork but a proper financial institution underwrites the loan and they set the rates, even if...

Porsche to ease pressure on Lotus

One vehicle is a start. The choice allocations like GT3 RS typically go to the multi-year, multi car customers for first right of refusal then they work their way down through their customer base.
  34. M

Porsche to ease pressure on Lotus

It’s interesting how that message gets changed when you get to the dealer level. When I asked my dealer about a GT3T and a GT4RS they stated they had stopped taking deposits as their entire allocation for MY22 and 23 was already spoken for as well as every other GT and GTS product. What has...

Porsche to ease pressure on Lotus

Again, never going to happen. Porsche has not been shy about their desire to price protect the GT products. Their actual quote is, "We will build 1 less car than the demand".
  36. M

Porsche to ease pressure on Lotus

Never happen, their 718 production backlog is in the 4 cylinder models, mostly for China and countries with harsh carbon emission taxes. I don't think ever in the history of Porsche have they increased the allocations on GT products and they could care less how many people actually drive...

    No more production after 2023

The title is click bait, the body of the article does nothing but reiterate what Lotus’ plans have been for the last 3 years. All new models going forward are electric, Emira is the last ICE Lotus and will be build for as long as the market and legislation will allow.

"September build" FE V6 in Dark Verdant potentially available (NY / USA)

I never bothered to ask so this is entirely possible and would actually make this transaction easier. But it also means Lotus would probably have to approve the transaction.

"September build" FE V6 in Dark Verdant potentially available (NY / USA)

Technically your dealer is correct, the order is tied to your deposit / reservation number in their system and that supposedly can’t be changed. However, Lotus is selling the car to the dealer, not you so once it shows up I don’t think Lotus can prevent them from selling it to someone else...
