Lack of power steering on day one

Has this ever happened with Evoras?

Owners: How much time have you spent unable to drive?

I guess they should've bought an NSX - probably FAR more reliable but without dihedral doors. But yes, when a service advisor recommends waiting until at least year 2, that advice should be taken.

Lack of power steering on day one

I wonder if any of the failed pumps were disassembled to determine the root cause.

We can do something like that with 401k accounts. It is essentially borrowing money from yourself.

Dang, you can easily see why the LC weighs over 1200 lbs more than the Emira!

    6 Months of ownership thoughts.

Thanks for the very inclusive writeup. It's somewhat like reading about a new generation Corvette (and the next 8 years). :sneaky: Every time I read a posting like this, I long for a Lotus dealership that is 10 miles away, like it used to be, many years ago. But the silver lining for many of...

Covering the central screen with a matt screen protector

There is such a thing as an anti-glare film. I looked into it, years ago for possible use with my fitness clack lens. Unfortunately, there were fairly expensive. Perhaps there will be a group purchase in our future.

    Third Party (not Lotus) Finance

At my credit union, a 3-year auto loan is at 5.49%, whereas a personal loan is at 9.99% for the same term length. If I put half of the auto loan in a certificate at 4.2% and keep moving it to maximize its rate of return, my net loan payments could be quite a bit lower, at least in theory.

    Lexus LC500

Getting 30 MPG in a 4600 lb car with a V8 in the city would be defying the laws of thermodynamics. :D I have read that at a steady 70 MPH, 30 MPG is possible in an LC500. I think I averaged 17 MPG in my 01 C5, and that had a bit over 360 HP in a 3300 lb vehicle. Here, if you go on a driving trip...

    Lexus LC500

What's hilarious about these guys is that they complain about the acceleration when the LC500 is just a couple of tenths of a second faster than the LC500h. Also, they are driving on an open country-like road. Those who live in or near a big city rarely have a chance to drive on a road like...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Well, I've driven (each for over 100 miles) a McLaren 570S, a Porsche 911 4S, and 2022 Corvette (among many others) and unless you are driving around like someone who wants to be arrested, there is no way the average driver would say the LC wallows like a 1975 Cadillac - not even close. In fact...

    Lexus LC500

Take a look and listen at 15:22 - 15:42, Keep in mind that model years after 2018 have a more comfortable ride. Yes, the sound of the hybrid is not nearly as nice as that of the V8 but when driving in the city or cruising on the highway, that sound is rare. And Marks real world fuel mileage...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

You act like the LC500 is a big floating barge that tilts like a boat on the high sea. That is NOT the LC500 and LC500h at all. Mark on Savage Geese has one and he and many other youtubers who love the car are far younger than 70. The LCs are not track cars; they are GT cars that are very, very...

    Lexus LC500

Actually, according to Mark of Savage Geese, the LC500h gets superior fuel mileage if city driving is factored in the mix. He averaged 28-30 MPG in the 500h, whereas the 500 averaged about 16-18. That's a big difference. If you live in or near a big city, as I do, hybrids really save money...

Emira Issues - from final production cars

Many years ago when I had my 68 Corvette, someone rearended my car and I decided to have the entire car painted. After a number of months or maybe years, an area of paint started bubbling, similar to what was shown here. The culprit was some oil on the inside of the fiberglass. The oil made its...

    Lexus LC500

The Toyota/Lexus V6 is very smooth, also. It just doesn't sound as nice. The problem is that I love driving, but with fuel at sky-high prices (CA trying to get everyone to buy EVs, only), the LC500h is very tempting. (tough choice for me)

I'm out - the cancellations thread

.....not so with Lexus/Toyota or perhaps Mazda. Our 18 year old Lexus RX400h, a fairly complicated vehicle, has been rock-steady reliable all these years. We should stop assuming that poor quality is inevitable. It is not. I have designed many products that have been improved over time, but...

Just been offered a C8……dilemma! Help me decide…

I guess if you were to fly on a plane that was reliable 80% of the time, you'd have second thoughts. I've rented some very fast cars and never did I abuse any. The brake disc "hot spots" he showed in the video was ot necessarily an indication of abuse. My 2001 C5 Corvette had the same problem...

Just been offered a C8……dilemma! Help me decide…

I must also add that my Mazdas have been very reliable as well (although not quite on the same level of Toyota/Lexus). There is a rumor that Toyota may resurrect the MR2, which would likely be a very reliable car that handles well. The LC500h would make for a great city car and cruiser...

News About Lotus Dealers in the U.S.

I don't think Fiat/Stellantis has dedicated dealerships for Fiats, correct? As was mentioned previously, perhaps Geely needs to combine Volvo and Lotus when Lotus dealerships are not already combined with other makes, as is the case with the closest Lotus dealership to me.

Just been offered a C8……dilemma! Help me decide…

Again, it boils down to: Why did the issue happen? Did the manufacturer devote resources to truly fix the issue, or did they simply replace the failed part with the same? Parts don't magically fix themselves. It's both comical and sad to read about the problems in the Corvette Forum. GM is...

Just been offered a C8……dilemma! Help me decide…

Here's a couple of pages of common "issues" with the C8 Corvette. You can certainly choose to think that none will apply to YOUR or your friend's Corvette. Good luck with that. The main problem with many non-Japanese vehicles over the last 20+ years is their electronics. After a certain number...

One of my favorites was at Edelbrock, manufacturer of many sizes of superchargers such as the one that Lotus uses. HRE wheels has an annual tour AND massive cars and coffee event. The last one I attended must've had over 1000 people coming and going.

News About Lotus Dealers in the U.S.

The dealership that is closest to me is part of a much larger European sales dealership, so I'm sure the Emira wait is not hurting them at all. There used to be a Lotus dealership within 15 miles of where I live, but that closed, years ago.

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

For those who do not want to spend $200,000 on two cars, I recommend a Mazda MX5 with Ohlin coilovers and if a 2016-2018, an Edelbrock supercharger (smog-legal in California). I certainly agree that a drop-top is really nice to have, but it doesn't need to cost near $100,000 to enjoy. Of course...

Harry's Garage V6 manual review after 6 months and 4500 miles

Excellent update by Harry. He reaffirms that the Touring suspension is amazing. Thus, I am heavily leaning in that direction. Of course, I'd love to drive both versions but that "aint" gonna happen, it seems.
