    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

I did forward it to the sales manager at the dealership and am awaiting her reply. Perhaps Lotus USA is not aware of my reservation date. By the way, how much are bespoke paint orders? (when they are available)

Well, since Lotus USA says I should be able to configure THIS Fall, then yes, there is a BIG difference from when the original estimate was given to me. (Fall of 2024)

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

I just received a notice from Lotus Cars USA, saying that "configuring and completing my order will be in the Fall". I had sent my reservation deposit in December of 2022 and had expected to configure in Q4 of 2024. I wonder if this means my Base V6 would be an FE version at the much higher price.

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

I think it was Thomas who said the Emira is better than ANY exotic car he has ever driven. Now that says a lot because those guys have driven many. I'm hoping to drive a dealership test-drive Emira within the next couple of months. It will be an auto with touring suspension. Hopefully, I'll be...

    Privacy glass

In these parts, rear tint can legally be as dark at "limo" tint, but the front-side windows must be light enough so that police can see the driver and passenger. Many owners "push the envelope" with medium darkness on all glass except the windshield. That way, there's an overall uniformity that...

    Super excited - transmission quandry!

Yes, with lots more experience than a 17-year old who probably just got her license. But yes, girls tend to be more cautious when driving. That explains why auto insurance cost for male teens is higher than it is for female.

    Super excited - transmission quandry!

Ha, that looks like me at 17, except in a 1973 Plymouth Duster with 6-cylinder engine (luckily). Each of our teens received a $5000 car. Our son had a 1997 Honda Civic DX hatch with manual transmission. That's what he we used when teaching him to drive a manual at age 16. Of course, we...

    Super excited - transmission quandry!

Back in the mid-2000s, while driving with a bunch of Corvette owners on a "spirited" drive, outside of the city, one of the owners allowed his 17 year-old son to drive while the day was in the passenger seat. As they rounded a corner at an unsafe speed, the car drifted into the oncoming lane...

Fitting the car in a standard garage

Perhaps if you drove in a slight angle (clockwise from above), your door would have a bit more room to open.

    Super excited - transmission quandry!

Evoras with auto trans typically sell for approximately 10% less than those with manual. My guess is that as EVs become more popular, cars with manual transmissions will retain their value better.

Is that in Japan? I would be claustrophobic.

    Super excited - transmission quandry!

I'm somewhat in the same boat. If I had my druthers, I'd have an LC500h convertible and a manual Emira V6. I already have a manual MX5 PRHT but whenever I had to do a lot of rush hour traffic-driving, I'd take my automatic sedan. This morning I had to drive at 8:00 AM and am I glad I took the...

So that one is fully electric? I hope there is some kind of sound to make bystanders aware of your presence. Edit: I just watched a video in which the speaker mentioned 0-60 MPH in sub-4 seconds. Expected cost is about $35,000 and a reservation is $100.

Now THAT's a wild ride! The Vanderhall Venice has a Ford turbo 4 banger. You and any bystanders in the vicinity can hear the blowoff whoosh. I rented it for 24 hours and had many compliments, despite the fact that it is a $24,000 car.

USA buyers: Anyone else concerned with rising US interest rates?

Thanks to Prop 13, our property tax after 29 years is very low and our home value is very high. Still, our sales tax is very high. But regarding interest rates for the Emira, I'm hoping that when my car is ready to be paid for, it'll be the first quarter of 2025. The insurance was estimated by...

So an Ariel Atom as a weekend car is ideal? ;) My weekend jaunts are to restaurants, church, and cars & coffee events. I would guess that these types of outings are more common that racetrack events, unless the car is made specifically for the track.

My early Lotus Emira impressions -Dislikes, surprises and some myth busting.

The tire noise ratings to which I referred were listed by Consumer Reports magazine. I believe they eliminate the influence of road surface and vehicle-generated noise by using a tire testing machine. I've noticed that road surface changes can make a big difference. Black tar is always much...

I wonder if there are any other brands of tires that are available, aftermarket. In other sizes, the Continental Extreme Contact Sports and Pirelli P Xero PZ4 are both quieter than the Michelin PS4s.

Emira vs Ferrari - Still not 100% on which to sell

Back a LONG time ago when I was in my 20s and driving a 68 Corvette convertible, SO many older guys (at a gas station) would stop to tell me they used to have a Corvette but wished they'd never sold it. If anyone should ask me if I wished I'd never sold the Corvette, I'd tell "No." The sports...

Emira vs Ferrari - Still not 100% on which to sell

Thanks. It looks like you and Harry disagree on that choice. I'm uncertain as to what I'll choose at this time. Hopefully, I'll be able to drive at least one Emira with one of the two suspensions, soon. (at the dealership)

Emira vs Ferrari - Still not 100% on which to sell

When it comes to car compliments, I have found that to many observers, something that they can actually afford is far more conversation-worthy than an unobtanium exotic car. Case-in-point: Both times while visiting a powder-coating shop in my 2008 PRHT MX5 Miata, which is probably worth about...

    Actual 0-60 Times?

I hear you. I used to replace the CAI and catch can (2001 Corvette), every two years to pass the visual inspection part of the smog test. Some guys still have a shop swap out illegal turbo setups on their Mazda MX5s. My MX5 has a perfectly CARB-legal CAI - no swaps required. (y)

    Actual 0-60 Times?

I owned the car for 13 years and was subscribing to C&D long before that. I remember the numbers well but did not find the exact issue. 0-60 in 4.5 seconds is not "well off the pace" of the Emira, but then again, C&D has thus far only estimated the Emira's acceleration times. Let's see what they...

    Actual 0-60 Times?

My 2001 C5 Z51 Coupe was C&D-tested 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and 12.9 seconds at 112 MPH. It had a bit more HP and Torque, compared to the earlier C5 Corvettes.
