Hi Team, look what I can buy for $63K! thoughts?

I really wanted to test drive the Emira, here in Southern CA but I missed the drive events that the dealerships had. However, I have driven many sports cars over the last 5 years, including: McLaren 570S Spider Porsche 911 4S Jaguar F-Type C8 Corvette I just recently reached the 1200 mile...

Hi Team, look what I can buy for $63K! thoughts?

I went with a different BMW. This one attracts attention far more than I expected. Its seats are among the best I've experienced, and power/acceleration is superb.

I'm out - the cancellations thread

I'm out as well. I really loved the IDEA (body design and powertrain) of the Emira, but at 80 miles from the nearest Lotus dealership and all the issues owners in the UK have been having, I don't want to go back to the "old days" when my old car would conk out on the street, followed by other...

    Throwing codes

I think we can agree that even 10% is a scary number, much less 25%. Imagine if you bought a Lexus LC500 or 500h and 10% of owners had serious issues. Perhaps I'd be less concerned if a dealership were 20 minutes away.

Definitely not a good sign for those expecting their Emiras within the next 6 months. I'm close to pulling the plug.

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Yes, although I haven't driven an Emira yet, I have driven an Evora. It is lighter and more directly coupled to the road compared to my C5 (last driven in 2014). The Evora's seats were far more firm and supportive, especially the side bolsters. The biggest shocker was when I still had the Z51 C5...

No offense taken, but a focused look at the C8 Corvette "problems/issues" folder will reveal plenty of issues in this fourth year of production.

So the Evora's kinks were worked out, quickly? My 2001 Corvette was the 5th model year and almost none of the kinks from the 1997 (first year of C5) were fixed. In fact, because of the added electronics, even more kinks were present. I certainly admire all the early customers for essentially...

Emira Issues - from final production cars

I may have mentioned this, previously but I had this happen on composite bodied car, many years ago. Apparently, composite material must be dry and sealed before primer/paint is applied. If not, moisture from the inside can wick to the outside, causing bubbling of the paint. Of course, Lotus...

I don't get the I4 - what is the target audience?

We have a fair number of hills where I live. Driving up them is when that extra power and torque is sometimes utilized but always appreciated. Besides, there are more and more EV drivers who like to embarrass ICE and ICE/Hybrid drivers. I do notice that there are plenty of "cruisers" who love...

I don't get the I4 - what is the target audience?

Rental companies and owners who tent via turo.com know that it is far easier to cause serious wear if a manual transmission car is thrashed by a renter. That's why you won't see many for rent. I have rented many cars through turo, and would never abuse the car.

I don't get the I4 - what is the target audience?

You can get a much faster and still great-looking 2017-2018 Acura/Honda NSX for just a bit more money. No, that would not have a warranty, but it most likely would not need it, since it is a Honda.

Tesla rigged range calc intentionally to mislead drivers

I saw this article. It appears that US and Korean manufacturers are all exaggerating their ranges. Yet many solicit "high satisfaction" when polled by Consumer Reports. Perhaps owners are willing to overlook dishonest companies as long as they produce fast vehicles.

    Insurance Options for US Market

Back some months ago, my agent for Mercury Insurance (under which we insure our house, also) quoted me $208/6 months for a 2021 Evora GT, since the Emira was not in their "books". Other car quotes: (6 months) 2023 Toyota Supra: $263 2017 Acura NSX: $372 2021 Lexus LC500h: $369

    Emira V6 Manual vs. R8 V10 Manual

I tend to agree. The least expensive one, the Vanderhall, was the slowest (although it was only about 1400 lbs, so it was peppy and fun to drive) but that car solicited many comments from younger people (high school and college age). The C7 Corvette was easily as loud as the bright red C8, which...

This news and those that are similar doesn't bode well for the deposit-and-waiting people. Even 10% of cars having issues is far too much when your dealership is not close by.

    Emira V6 Manual vs. R8 V10 Manual

I don't want to steer this topic too far away but check out nsxprime.com. I've been getting some good info on that site. Of course, the low number of production units means that traffic at the site is not very heavy. Pat at Pat's garage on youtube has a gen 2 NSX, although I'm not positive that...

    Emira V6 Manual vs. R8 V10 Manual

Thanks for the background info. I have to wonder if any of those issues would surface in a gen 2 NSX. My research has shown that it is among the most reliable supercars out there.

Who wants a spot for an i-4?

I would describe the driver as "experienced". A newbie manual transmission driver, of course, would not be the person in this comparison. I agree that the auto transmission would be faster but if we're talking 0.1 seconds difference, then the choice become more difficult if that is the only...

    Emira V6 Manual vs. R8 V10 Manual

How's the reliability of the Audi? They don't exactly have a great reputation, being a German car. (Of course, I can say the same for Corvettes (Z06 being close in price to the Audi?) as American cars. The Emira is also not a beacon of reliability.......

Who wants a spot for an i-4?

Well hey, the Toyota Supra with auto transmission and B58 engine does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds, whereas the same engine with manual transmission does the 0-60 MPH in 3.9 seconds. Is the Supra auto transmission not fast or is the manual transmission, exceptional?

Okay, I have to admit that I was feeling humorous this morning, especially after seeing so many nice cars posted. I do drive a Senna, but only while using my XBOX console with full driving stand. In fact, there is an Emira in Forza Horizons 5. I just haven't had the opportunity to drive it...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

The Supra, according to Car & Driver, is fairly quiet at highway speeds (68 db). I haven't yet seen any mention of cabin noise levels in the Emira. What is your opinion in this regard? I already have a noisy car (MX5), so any addition will have to be quieter.

When I had my new 2001 Corvette shipped to me (in CA) from an Alabama dealership, I already knew what was required: I would have to get the car smog-checked and then bring it to the local DMV and have a DMV employee walk out to my car and inspect a critical sticker under the hood. The sticker...

I signed up in December 2022 and was asked to specify the engine (i4 or V6) and transmission (if V6). I think that can be changed.
