    The inevitable faster Emira

Weight reduction would be great, but I don’t think it’s feasible to reduce the weight enough for there to be a big difference in day-to-day seat of the pants performance. I think it would take a solid 300 lbs sprung weight reduction to feel much of a difference. Less if unsprung and/or rotating...

Probably best to wait and see exactly what damage is done and what options there are to repair it.

📓 Journals A sad day.. any help would be welcomed

I would bet money that it is repairable. You’ve got the best sign that it can be fixed- it runs and drives, and there’s not immediately apparent big problems. The parts may take some time to get, but I bet if you are patient it can be put right again.

    The inevitable faster Emira

Here’s my guess: Marginal power bump from a different air intake and more aggressive engine tune. A small change in the side sill/rocker, a front lip and/or rear low profile spoiler, minute changes to the suspension to make it a touch lower and more focused, and a dash plaque. Maybe more...

That seems like a very, very good value!

New MR2 from Toyota v Lotus Emira.

It’s probably not going to be a featherweight, but my guess is it will be relatively light weight. I’m not familiar with all of Toyota’s worldwide product lineup, but I don’t know of any massively powerful FWD cars. So it’s either adopt and adapt an existing FWD drivetrain to a relatively...

New MR2 from Toyota v Lotus Emira.

Cool option! I don’t see it is as the quasi-exotic style sports car the Emira is, but if it’s priced right, it looks like a really neat entry level mid engined car. It may be surprisingly quick. The FRS/86 is a pretty light weight car, so we know Toyota can build light vehicles. Also, I can...

    $1149$ Oil change price

Hear me out. Having done the oil change myself, I can see a dealership charging $500. I think this would still be excessive, but probably what I would expect given that there is disassembly required to change the oil. My price-value-gut says $350-400 would be “fair”, but real world I would...

Call Lotus USA customer service and let them know. Email your receipt. The only way this stops is if the parent corp knows about this sort of stuff.

    Lowered My Emira

What feels better about how it drives? Did you have the car re-aligned back to stock settings after installing the Nitrons?

FS/FT: Red OEM Lotus Emira Brake Calipers – Looking for Yellow

I will say if you can’t find anyone to trade and don’t want to buy OEM, having your stock calipers disassembled and powder coated should give you a good result. I bought unpainted Brembo calipers for my 2006 Mustang GT (same as came stock on 2007+ GT500s) and had them powder coated. I got to...

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

McLaren styling reminds me of a sleek athletic shoe. Flashy, communicates speed, but ultimately forgettable styling and incoherent.

    Larini exhaust users?

The Emira with +70 hp will feel like a step up. 70 hp is a lot more! In my experience, I need at least a 10% power gain on any aftermarket parts to consistently feel the power and make it worth it, and that's a much bigger boost.

📓 Journals A Vivid Red Dream

It’s a nice interior to be in, for sure. Though it matches the car well, I would still love to have round dial analog gauges.

    Driving gloves?

Gooooooood morning fellow Emirati! I have an alcantara steering wheel on my Emira. Love it. Don’t love the idea of it getting nasty over time, which I know it will. How to slow it down? Maybe driving gloves. Does anyone have experience with Hungant.com gloves? Tailor made to order for what...

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

I’ve never understood the argument that Ferrari and other exotics are so much better built and engineered than anything America could ever make. Like Corvettes or not, there ain’t a single one made in my lifetime (born in 1984) where routine engine out services would ever be acceptable to...

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

I try to do as much work on my own car as I can, even big stuff. Granted, my experience is rather limited to common domestic cars, but in reality they all work pretty much the same. An alternator is an alternator, and a window regulator is a window regulator. BOSCH, Delco, Denso, etc., make most...
