U0109 Code, Lost Communication w/Fuel Pump

I had it come up on the way back from the Le Mans Classic and we cleared it with an OBD, taking a photo of the readout first. My dealer says it was related to outstanding recalls, presumably software updates and is now supposedly OK. We'll see when I get it back as a 2 1/2 year health check...

    Meetup in Germany

We did the Deutsche Alpenstrasse from Konigssee to Bodensee during the last week of May. Some nice roads but didn't see another Lotus never mind an Emira.

What to do? 911T plus Base Emira

I have both an Elise S1 and an Emira V6 manual and agree. The Elise is for tearing about in on country roads and the Emira is more relaxed and for longer distances.

    Second service cost

I seem to recall it's about double the 2nd year service. Still not out of the way for a car of this type if you think what a Ferrari or Porsche would be.
  6. M

    Second service cost

I would think that a Lotus field engineer has inspected the car to recommend flywheel replacement rather than Endeavor.

    Second service cost

My experience has been good so far. It's going back for a replacement steering pump next month.

    Second service cost

I'd bought the 3 year service plan but my second service last week was quoted by Endeavor Colchester as £680 including VAT.

The state of new cars, a non Emira rant!

Let's hope so although I'm intending to keep the Emira long term so I'm not so bothered about low used prices. Always nice to think that I haven't lost money though.

The state of new cars, a non Emira rant!

Harry Metcalfe did a recent video about cars being ever more complex, with functions dictated by governments, which most people don't want, but with an ever increasing price tag, which also leads to plummeting values on the used market.

    UK Car insurance craziness?

When I first insured my Emira in January 2023 the premium was circa £450 but renewal in January this year was almost double that. I use Compare, Money Supermarket etc too. Ultimately I went to Footman James who have my S1 Elise on an agreed value policy and they insured both cars for under...

Seneca Blue Lotus Emira Photo Thread

We did the Gotthard in both directions, initially down to Locarno on Lake Maggiore, then the Furka and Grimsel up to Lucerne. As you say, great fun.

    Hello from the UK

Well, I love the 4C although I've not driven one. It all depends on what you want from an Emira. My V6 manual probably doesn't get away from the lights as fast as an auto or the i4 but that's not how I drive anyway. Once rolling and on good A and B roads it's both fast and responsive and...

    Key Fob bottom Hinge

The button at the bottom side does release the hinge at the bottom but also allows you to remove the cover for battery replacement. It's virtually impossible to remove it otherwise without damaging it. The manual doesn't tell you that but my dealer did.

    Official GT4 Racing Thread

Great achievement Charlotte. The weather and full course yellows made it difficult for everyone and for a new team to come through with P3 overall in GT4 was special to see and encouraging for the rest of the season. We were pleased to be there to witness it.

Spotted: Emiras seen in the wild

Hethel Yellow Emira heading north at the northern end of the A12 Colchester bypass yesterday lunchtime, just as I was joining the roadworks queue heading south in my Seneca Blue one. A Nimbus Grey one at the A12/A120 Colchester junction this morning. He gunned after I'd passed and it did sound...

Hilton & Moss Emira GT4 unveiled

I was hoping that they'd run it in the British GT4 series along with the two cars from Mahiki but apparently its going to be used for one off appearances at various motor sport events.

one less Emira on the road RIP

Yes, to the west of Bury if i recall. Also late evening so traffic would have been light. Always sad to hear about such an occurrence.

My Emira | 1 year and 5400 miles update and thoughts on my first service

It was 1000 miles but changed with the Emira to 12 months, presumably because of engine component quality, tolerances, synthetic oil etc. However, a number of people, including me, opted to have the oil and filter change at 1000 miles.

    Engine cut out

Mine does it too. Embarrassing at first but when you expect it.....you don't get caught out. I wasn't given the January update as it was deemed unnecessary. I'll go back to the dealer if it persists.
  23. M

    Cold start stalling

Probably not because otherwise the problem of stalling would occur during normal running. As I said before it may not be type of fuel either. It's more like the ECU not providing for a rich enough mixture for a first cold start. The dealer diagnostics should reveal all.
  24. M

    Cold start stalling

I'm sorry to hear that it's returned. Is it really the type of fuel though? I use Tesco E5 99 most of the time, but not exclusively, and don't have a problem.

How many miles has your Emira done?

6750 miles in just over 12 months. Should be more in the next 12 as my insurance has changed to unlimited and we have some longer trips planned.
  26. M

New software update last week - who’s had it?

My car is going in tomorrow for it's 12 month service with 6250 miles/10,000km completed. I haven't had the starting issues. I'll ask what the update addresses.
  27. M

Has it been confirmed that Emira clutch requires engine out removal ?

It isn't a clamshell. The rear body has separate panels which when removed allow access to remove and replace the engine and it's ancillaries.

    Terrible Key Fob Badge

I've had both of mine in Faraday bags since last January, one in the safe which I alternate every so often. They're still as new.......

Has anyone successfully rejected their car

When it's this serious, you go to the very top with a polite but factual email detailing the problem and what you expect from Lotus to resolve it. Matt Windle is the MD and Geoff Dowding is Director for Sales and Aftersales. Their email addresses are readily available. Send your email there...

How bad does the boot/trunk heat get?

We have a pair of matching leather bags chosen to fit the boot space and have had no issues with heat, even though they've been in there all day and the car driven reasonably hard. That includes my wife's makeup bag.
  31. M

How bad does the boot/trunk heat get?

Not sure about that. The turbo is at the rear of the engine compartment, so close to the front of the luggage space. I can't imagine that space being cooler than the V6 variant.

    Yellow boot light on dash

Echoing what @Yas.totti10 said, the yellow shows when the car is stationary, the red when moving. Also the car rear lights will be on indicating that the boot isn't latched.

Spotted: Emiras seen in the wild

Nimbus Emira seen on a narrow lane in the Wensum Valley, Norwich this lunchtime. I was in my wife's grey Abarth 595 and you caught me being careful as she was with me

    Nimbus in the Dolomites

I've never seen anything like that since we had 5 star 100 for the rally cars in the late 70s and early 80s. Northern Switzerland or Germany?
  36. M

    Nimbus in the Dolomites

You've managed to keep it clean. We're recently back from a long weekend in Northern France and it's taken me almost a whole day to get it clean.
  37. M

    Cold start stalling

But I do have the climate fan running on unlocking, which stops when I open the boot to remove the battery conditioner connection or open the driver's door.

Default audio device not being remembered

I've only tried it in the armrest USB A and it's left in all the time as it's difficult, impossible even, to insert when driving.

Default audio device not being remembered

Yes, I'm having to do the same with the memory stick on USB2 and I haven't found a way to resolve it.
