    Paint blistering issue update

Mclarens use aluminium panels - the problem here really is corrosion (although poor sealing seems to have made the problem worse) and you can sand these back and repaint.

    Paint blistering issue update

£5800 for the doors alone. The rear quarter panels and engine cover can also be affected, I would assume this costs a fair bit more than a door. Total price for replacing all panels, respray and re-doing possibly PPF is likely to be over £10,000. Another issue may be delays in getting the...

What car is more beautiful than an Emira?

Paradoxically, that would mean to check whether a car's beauty does not age - you would have to wait several years to know...

    New Emira Cup Racer

Carbon fibre is roughly 30-40% of the weight of traditional fibre glass. But the "TCA Ultra Lite" composite panels on the Emira are meant to be 40% light than traditional fibre glass (so 60% the weight). It would be interesting to weigh the two and find out what the actual difference is. It...

    Paint/panel problems....never ending problem?

That's normally the way warranty works at least in the UK. The replacement part usually inherits the remaining warranty period of the original item. Obviously, if it is the same part that is continually failing, you may have recourse to a "not fit for purpose" claim but that would be getting...

    Paint/panel problems....never ending problem?

In the UK the main delay seems to be the dealer getting the replacement panels which I've heard can take months. After that it just takes a few weeks as the dealers just use their local friendly body shop to spray the panel and blend in the surrounding panels. No use taking your car to the...

    My Stock mats are weird.

Its probably not the issue but the floor mat retainers can be really fiddly to get in place, You need to get them in just the right position before you can turn them to click into position otherwise they don't go in properly. As I say probably not your issue but mentioning it just in case.

What did you do to your Emira today?

Buy a few alpine plants and you can start a nice rockery... Garden gnome is optional.

    Should I

Yes, change your oil. I would say that you should be changing the oil after the run in period on any new engine. I know many modern engines come new as "pre-run-in" but there's always going to be some running-in wear from rings etc producing some metal debris in the oil - the sooner you stop...

    Central England meet

I'm happy to postpone this until you get your car back if you like... after all the whole purpose of this meet is to celebrate you finally having your car back. Not sure if @Beachbum has his car back either. Maybe reschedule to sometime in late August?

What car is more beautiful than an Emira?

Agreed - but also think the Emira is an improvement looks-wise on the Evija.

    Team Lotus

That's an Emira GT4 car. If anyone hasn't seen it, the Europe GT4 races have been very entertaining. Team Lotus were doing really well in their class but lately have been having technical issues tyres & suspension changes and also some unfortunate pit/changeover timing issues leading to...

    Auto only: Turbo vs V6?

I test drove the V6 and the i4 back to back. I'm old fashioned and was dead set on the manual - mainly for traditional reasons. But the DCT really tempted me. The i4 is faster and a lot of fun to drive. As you get the 400bhp version in the US and you prefer a automatic - the i4 is a no brainer...

What car is more beautiful than an Emira?

I'd been thinking the same thing. The Emira is a beautiful car. Lancia Stratos Ferrari Dino 206 Lotus Elan Sprint GT40 (Original of course) E-Type I also think the Emira probably will get in that list in time but probably too early, too modern to count as a classic yet. I also think the...

Software updates between Apr and May

I think it was established somewhere on this forum (maybe the JB4 thread, I can't find it now) that the info screen does not reflect the actual horsepower. I'm guessing it's probably just some simple calculation based on the engine revs. If so, if it was showing "421bhp" that was a "bug" that...

    UK Emira Numbers

It might also be interesting to know that at the start of this year there were over 100 Emira for sale on Autotrader (a load just then coming on the market through Auto100). Now there are less than 50 (excluding the adverts for new ones). Prices are up around £2000-3000 since the start of the...

    UK Emira Numbers

That ties in with what I was told by a dealer when I test drove the Emira in early 2025. I assumed that they weren't selling many Eletres but he said they were selling about twice as many Eletres as they were selling Emiras. He didn't sound very happy about that either.

    Luggage for Behind-Seat Shelf

Thanks. Yes we have our route mostly sorted now. Had been using the RAC Europe driving website that mentioned the French sticker but not anything about other countires. I have got the French Air Quality sticker as I had read it is needed in some places (like Lille) but also that there's other...

    Luggage for Behind-Seat Shelf

Thanks. This case was the only one I could find with a decent size that was the correct dimensions when I searched on Amazon, case by case. But as you point out if you search Easyjet case you get many matches. So there are quite a few other options.

    'Centering' steering wheel top notch

Although you stated the alignment is good - is that just your feeling that it is or have you had it checked? As everyone says, it could be the front toe that is out. I think the toe can be adjusted without taking off the undertrays - but I'm not sure castor/camber can be - maybe it can? I...

    'Centering' steering wheel top notch

Sounds like your steering wheel has been off and put back on again probably when the road wheels were not straight. Just have the dealer fix it - they will just need to take it off and put it back on again - this time with the wheels straight. 10 minutes work. You could do it yourself put it...

    Luggage for Behind-Seat Shelf

Just in case anyone is after cheapish options for luggage that fit in the behind seat shelf I found these. I measured the shelf and found it’s a bit of an awkward size; you can fit two fairly wide cases but that are not tall so they do not obscure the rear-view mirror. Meanwhile there’s a bit...

    Pricing Thoughts....

All true - and I agreed it is worth the money for what you get. But Lotus shot themselves in the foot by stating they were developing it as a 60/70K sports car and then even when production was getting into trouble doubling-down and promising customers it would still definitely be a 60/70K...

    Japan - Emira Ownership (エミーラ納車とその後)

Advan Neovas were my favourite tyres on my Elise - doing many track days I got through a lot of different brands to try out. Advan Neovas were grippy but at the same time really progressive giving you plenty of warning and room to play. But they are quite soft and do wear quickly especially on...

Evo Mag Article - "Can Lotus survive its latest crisis?"

Mostly agree but Matt Windle would be in charge or at least some what responsible for; customer service, quality control, quality checks of subcontractors work such as those making composite body panels, communications to prospective owners including those with early deposits down, dealing with...
