    Emira vs other Exotic Cars

Personally, it irked me that for a supposedly 'analog' feeling sports car, the dash was completely digital and boring. That and the horrible stuck-on centre screen had me phoning for my deposit back the morning after I saw the car. Notice every single other dash above has a traditional-style rev...

    Emira vs other Exotic Cars

I wouldn't bother. When I did this in another thread, the consensus was that Ferrari interiors are "like something Homer Simpson would design or a teenage boy" or "looks like something somebody in the 80's thought the future would look like". Said no professional reviewer of a modern Ferrari...

    Lotus Emira vs Porsche 718

Yes, the 718 is definitely still being sold and deserves to be on this list. Sadly, the Ferrari F8 order book is now closed, due to volume of orders received - so there is no longer any mid-engined ICE Ferrari available (the 296GTB is hybrid).

    Yellow Emira at Eletre launch

Sure, here are a few taken by the dealer and one I took at a Ferrari track event (Silverstone); I haven't taken any more of my own.

    Yellow Emira at Eletre launch

I beg to differ. I bought my Ferrari last year, and could have had anything I wanted - I chose the 488 Spider. It is utterly exhilarating at road speeds - the massive low-down torque is intoxicating, and the steering feel, ride and body control are significantly better than the 458...

How hard is it going to be to get parts? Especially outside of the UK...

Well I need a new cat for my Elise. Lotus do not have any, can't say when they will, and if they did it would be £1,100 - just for the part!

Lotus Eletre Reveal - Live Stream on NOW

I'm not sure I get it... So it's a strict four-seater, with rear seats that do not fold down to expand boot space? There doesn't appear to be any way to fit a roof rack to carry bikes. Sorry, but that doesn't even constitute an SUV for me. Maybe I'm just one of the few who actually uses my...

    No ADAS on First edition

I'm not sure that Lotus have ever made anything clear about the Emira... But what is interesting - I don't recall seeing it discussed here but I have seen confirmed elsewhere - is that the i4 will not have the same hydraulic power steering as the V6. Again, information I don't think has been...

    4-point harness

I would say definitely not with the standard seats. The general consensus seems to be, however, that a standard four point harness is very dangerous compared to a standard three point seat belt, for a number of reasons, including: 1. In a frontal impact, your body will submarine under the lap...

... just sayin': BTW I am a Lotus fan - I have a Burnt Orange S2 Elise SC which I love, and think is the best-looking car Lotus have ever made. I think it's really sad that Elise and Exige production is finished: they were real Lotus, unique cars the like of which you couldn't get anywhere else.

Sorry I got it wrong. Ferrari shipped 11,155 cars last year, double digit growth. Doesn't sound like a company 'just surviving' on its brand status! https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/ferrari-points-higher-profits-this-year-after-record-2021-shipments-2022-02-02/

... Yet somehow Ferrari still manage to sell nearly 8,500 of their ugly cars designed by a kid in junior high per year. Come on. The Emira bears absolutely no relation to a Lotus Elite or Elan, or a Jaguar. It looks like a Ferrari - and it's not just me; it's been said many, many times on this...

Any idea which version is lightest weight ?

No I've not heard the KEF system - so I'm speccing the Bose system as it's technically equivalent (10 speakers). With absolutely no information from Lotus I can't see that anyone could justify saying it's equivalent to the Burmester high-end system. I have Bose specced in both my 911 and Macan...

Any idea which version is lightest weight ?

You're not comparing apples to apples. There is absolutely no justification that the Emira's sound system will be in the same league as the £2,769 12-speaker + sub Burmester system from Porsche. I specced the uprated Bose 10-speaker system which is a much closer equivalent. The Emira has 14-way...

The 296 is not ugly - and it looks better in the flesh than in photos. But those two cover photos seem to have been taken to show off both cars' worst angles. ... And they have just started taking deposits for the 296 GTS/Spider! Styling preference is clearly a very personal thing. I think...

What am I supposed to have not read? What exactly do you have to add to a base Cayman GTS to meet Emira V6 spec and that have any weight penalty? You *can* add lots of extras to personalise your car, but the Cayman already has a lot of the things Lotus don't incorporate at least partly due to...

Any idea which version is lightest weight ?

... But a Cayman GTS 4.0 is only 1,405kg. With a V6. A Ferrari F8 with 710bhp turbocharged V8 is 1,435kg. The Emira really is not light, in any way whatsoever.

Who is planning on wheel spacers right out of the gate?

I don't get this - how would the blue car even be drivable? There'd be no suspension travel. FWIW the wheel spacing on the white VP looks perfect. Why would you even want to buy a car that majors on its suspension setup, then completely alter it?

    Lotus cars=no adaptive dampers.

I think "kind of nice" is a bit of an understatement. Every car the Emira is being compared with has adaptive dampers; with the Emira you have to choose which one you want... 10 second video of a dark blue Emira in a showroom... Has anyone else seen this yet?

Well there's a yellow car in China, a Red one (apparently not Magma) in Spain, so why not a random dark blue one in Dubai? There are clearly many more cars out there than the two show cars, and apparently they all fully running and registered.

What other “raw” cars have you owned ?

If the 400bhp V6 is not enough, which engine would be a good replacement?

I get that they don't have the budget to design and build their own engine. That budget is given over to developing the EV platform. But take KTM as an example: they're using advanced Honda engines and transmissions in their cars, and are presumably targeting a way smaller market than the Emira...
