V8 Emira being considered to replace V6

If Lotus makes any major structural changes, like lengthening the car or messing with the rear to fit a bigger engine, they'll have to go through another round of crash testing, and any new engine will need emissions testing. Euro-7 is very tough, engines have to run at lambda=1 all the time...

The really fast GT3RS guy _told_ me that he was doing 1:26's, I don't have proof. Some creative storytelling could always be involved, but given his insane closing speed on me, I'm sure he was incredibly fast. He absolutely reeled me in the high speed corners, which makes sense with aero.

Power reduced to 4k at track need help!!!

The ECU expects a particular voltage range from the sensors. If it doesn't get this voltage, you get an immediate O2 error code. The code will tell you which sensor. The ECU also compares pre-cat/post-cat O2 readings against each other if sensor voltages are ok, that's how it tests catalyst...

The Cayman is a more balanced car than the Emira, for sure, and at the limit it's pretty neutral. More factors into this, though. The Emira has a LOT more rubber in the rear than the front, and Lotus is clearly tuning it for understeering. When I was driving mine on the track in a giant rain...

I'll try them next time. I've still got a new set of RP1's to work through in my parts bin, and I'll try the PFC's. Thanks for the tip.

Maybe the brake feel is just relative to what you are used to. I tracked my Elise for 16 years and got very used to its brakes, and compared to it, the Emira's brakes are difficult to modulate. My first track day was on EBC SR-11 pads, and those completely overpowered the tires (Supersports) and...

comprehensive comparison of high performance tires (Conti Sport 7, Michelin 4s, Goodyear F1 LTS and others)

This is a BS, as data loggers don't lie. My 80 threadwear Dunlop Sport Maxx Race tires have much more grip than the PS2 LTS tires I used before, and the SuperSport LTS tires before that. The PS2's do have a nicer ride than the Dunlops, but I'm also no longer on the stock coilovers, so that...

Is anyone here running Nitron Fastroad or Clubsport suspension?

I've driven the ClubSports now at a track day, and a bunch on the street, and overall, they're great. The compression/rebound adjustment knob has about 24 steps. The shop which installed it got them set at 12, based on my count. I count the first click as "0" then add 12 more. For the track...

I had mine corner balanced when the Nitrons went in. All it does is make it feel like it grips a little better. No downsides.

Lotus Returning To Engines - Car Magazine Article

Be careful with that Tesla self driving. I was a few cars behind this guy when he died and saw it all go down: https://abc7news.com/dan-noyes-tesla-crash-iteam-barrier-battery-safety/3293529/ Never, ever let your guard down. They're a lot better today, but you need to pay attention. I can't...

There's a saying that the fastest track car is a rental car :) Here in the US, lots of car rental places not far from race tracks have learned this lesson, so quite often, if you drive to the track, they show up soon after with a tow truck and take it away. Read your contract before doing this.

Track days are so expensive, and require taking time off work and stuff - absolutely go for that last session, just remember that you're tired and you're not going to do your best that session, and just have fun. strangely, when relaxing, you still go surprisingly fast. That is, if you don't...

It looks like they rolled over too much. I set my tire pressures with the help of a probe pyrometer and they rolled over less than yours. i can snap a picture later, as the scrub is still obvious. A pyrometer makes it obvious. Linear temperature gradient on tire = correct pressure. For me, this...

Sway bars transfer some amount of compression from one side to the other. I retained the OEM sway bar. The suspension now compresses less when cornering, so it moves the sway bar less, and the higher spring rate on the other side resists sway bar rotation more as well, so on net, relative to...

For me, costs are important as well, and I don't want to do too much to the car. I'm not going to add power or aero since it's expensive, but also, I don't want to mess up a beautiful car. I'm mostly done. Maybe one day I'll do the seat, but that's a reversible change. The biggest cost is...

I had a CG lock in my gear - it was so old the spindle for the tightener rusted apart, so struck out there. Also, the Emira driver's seat doesn't ratchet, so that tight seat belt trick doesn't work. That torso strap looks hilarious - I wonder if it works.

Yeah, but leather ages more nicely. Alcantara gets quite funky with time. One of the reasons I bought my Emira over the used 600Lt I was considering was the sad state of 5 year old alcantara in the McLaren.

Who here has tracked their Emira?

I put some feedback and a track video here: https://www.emiraforum.com/threads/emira-track-impressions.5946/page-3#post-172943 On the road, the ride is harsh, but not horrible. On the track, it makes the car wake up. I no longer regret selling my Elise after this suspension upgrade.

Nitron Coilovers with front axle lift system

I neglected to weigh the Nitrons, but my box of coilovers weighs a LOT more with the OEM touring coilovers than when it was full of Nitrons. The difference is shocking. I'd guess it's 3-4lb lighter, each.

It's too soon to tell, but it's more comfy than my Elise on its Nitrons and I drove that one for 16 years with them and loved it. I'll be driving 200 miles to the track so I'll form a strong opinion then. It's quite a bit firmer and you feel every crack in the road, unlike with the touring...

Modern engines are really impressive. They got impressive around 2003 with the incoming 2004 requirements and everything since has been better, but only by a tiny amount, since the net emissions post-2004 are very small in a car that's not broken. Of course, when people de-cat and tune cars...
