Silver lining there is maybe if the car is going to develop bubbles in the door panels, they'll have shown up by delivery time and you can reject the car, rather than trying to fight with Lotus warranty service once you've taken it home.

I'll bet you didn't get that in writing. Also re: shipping protection, it looks like Lotus completely misinterpreted the whole "add lightness" thing.

So the firing of the emissions engineer and type approval head were not because CARB had been complete and their services were no longer required.

I'm going to embrace my inner @Eagle7 and say there's an optimistic take, that Lotus was going to fire the Type Approval heads and was just waiting until CARB cert was complete to do it. (though the fact they're trying to recruit replacements baffles me, as this is the last ICE model)

Who would take this job? It’s insane Geely is trying to hire externally rather than offering a bucket of cash to their Volvo guy to get it done. We already know it’s the last ICE Lotus. Chance of abandoning US market just increased significantly.

I fail to see how a screenshot of a text message implies any more validity than simply transcribing text, but sure ok.

One would think Lotus would apply more protection during shipping than the minimal white strips we've seen from photos of arriving cars in Japan and UAE.

The exact wording my salesperson texted me was "We have received confirmation that Lotus has built the US spec Emira V6 First Editions (1.0) and are shipping them to the US now!" He didn't specify exactly what "shipping" meant.

Great video. Regardless of the drag race pecking order, the Emira is the only one I could see myself parking and then looking back over my shoulder at with a smile as I walk away. And all of these cars would be handily smoked in a straight line by any of a number of EV grocery getters.

No, only 14 states follow CARB standards. My salesman heard that it's possible Lotus will begin deliveries to non-CARB states first, if signoff doesn't happen by the time the first cars arrive. He expects that all the cars will be imported at Baltimore.
