I know. But the Emira is pretty much the definition of a sportscar (lightweight, 2 seats, driver-focused, midpriced). I don’t think it qualifies as a supercar at all, even though it looks as good as many of them.

Vinfast makes (by all accounts) the absolute worst piece of garbage sold in the US as a car, and yet they managed to get their CARB cert done on time. Ok, so that's an EV, maybe it's simpler. Explain how Ineos could get approval while Lotus botched it. Even Volvo had all their 2024 paperwork...

Maybe CARB's only interface for info from Lotus was through the Customer Care line.

@Climber: Thanks for posting these - it's the first time I've seen my exact spec in a photo!

From reading years of these posts, I think the main takeaway is to bring a 10mm wrench along when you pick up the car, in case you need to disconnect the battery on the way home for a system reset. (e.g. at your first gas stop)

At this point maybe Lotus should just go ahead and trademark "Electre" because it is so commonly misspelled. :P

I would also bet that Base models won't get a choice of Sport/Touring for free. You may have to buy a "driver's pack" in order to get sport suspension and caliper colors.

It is, obviously, a textbook abusive relationship at this point. If Lotus treats NA buyers like this even before money has changed hands, how do you think it’ll go once the car has been delivered and problems pop up?
