📓 Journals Diaries of the first Lotus Emira picked up from Hethel - V6 FE - yellow / ice / silver / sport

Maybe stay away from this forum for a week or two before making a decision? It can sometimes be a bit of a "negativity echo chamber". Yes, there are unquestionably some early glitches, but they will get sorted. It's not really a massive surprise for the first few months of production of a...

Lotus EV bankrolled by world's richest man!

Actually, having done a bit more background reading, I suspect the presentation has chosen its words incorrectly. I don't think the Emira is going to be converted to an EV, I think it's going to be replaced by the Type 135 which will be an all-new electric car built on the E-sports architecture...

    📓 Journals Borders Seneca Emira

Hmm. A bit amusing . . . but what does this say about Hethel's production process control? Checklists and QA are supposed to make that kind of mistake impossible.

Lotus EV bankrolled by world's richest man!

The investor presentation states that ICE model production at Lotus will end in 2026. That's pretty definitive. There will only be three more years of petrol-powered Emira. (see footnote on page 9 and repeated on page 13). A footnote on page 15 states that "the Emira is expected to be...

Lotus EV bankrolled by world's richest man!

It's confusing. It looks like they spinning out just Lotus Technology, the EV business based in China. If that's so, where does that leave the rest of Lotus Group, especially Lotus Cars in the UK which lacks EV expertise or resources? And who will own/control/design the electric sports car...

Lotus EV bankrolled by world's richest man!

It's a backdoor listing via a SPAC, so they can effectively set the valuation at anything they want as long as the owner of the SPAC (L Catterton) agrees to be diluted to that level. It doesn't mean the market will agree with that valuation longer term. I see this as a mixed outcome for Lotus...

Emiras advertised for sale on other sites

My bet is that the vast majority of exits have been a result of the delivery delays, not marketing or any other factor. Potential Emira owners, understandably, just don't want to wait two years to get a new car. The enthusiasm slowly diminishes. A new shiny thing catches the eye. A...

    Further Delays

The timing was as much about 2022 vs 2023 compliance plates as anything else. The last I heard from Lotus Australia is that there was one customer who more or less insisted that he get his car before the Xmas break even if it meant a 2022 compliance plate. The rest, plated as 2023, are being...

Merry Christmas everyone. Hopefully, 2023 will be the year we all go from talking about delays and frustration to ownership and enjoyment.

Interesting pre-delivery call from Customer Care - parts on back order

There's been a fair amount of supply chain impact at Porsche, too. For example, going back to customers with orders and informing them that certain memory seats are unavailable due to chip shortages. The Cayenne factory lines were closed down for a period due to shortages.

    Panicum effusum here

I spoke to Simply Sports about a week ago, and at that point they had heard nothing new to indicate that we were going to be hit by further delays (my car was still showing as going to be built in Jan).

Emiras advertised for sale on other sites

I believe the buyer pays a 5% premium + VAT (now increasing to 6% on new transactions). So total cost to the buyer was £89,570

2.0 EMIRA has arrived in China

Is it though? I think Lotus have been pretty clear in saying that i4 production is delayed until they clear the backlog of V6 cars. Production is likely to start in Q2 next year.

Anyone thinking twice about buying Emira?

Yup. I finally got my hands on an Audi RS2 and my ownership was a heartbreaking disappointment. Incredibly cool car to look at, and loved by everyone who saw it, but unquestionably "of its age." Add to that, maintaining an old and rare Audi is a complete nightmare; Audi just doesn't support...

Paint Protection Film (PPF) and Wrap for your Emira

Well, even AUD$7k is only £4,000. Still good value compared with that UK price. In the past, OziCozi was charging $4,500 for a full wrap of 2-door cars. Not sure if their prices have changed recently. Also, I would expect a higher price if the pre-cut PPF templates aren't available yet for...

Paint Protection Film (PPF) and Wrap for your Emira

Holy crap . . . £6,000! I know Topaz is the go-to for supercars in the UK, but that's crazy money for PPF. The shop I use in Sydney (one of the better local PPF installers) has quoted me A$4,500 for the whole car with SunTek Reaction. That's about £2,500.

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Come on guys, I think we're working ourselves into a negative frenzy here. I see the Emira as being, almost certainly,, the last manual ICE car I will ever buy. It's about celebrating the end of an era. In 10 years' time, no one is going to be saying, "oh, that's the one that had a little...

    BMW M2 anyone?

I've had a 1M since new (11 years) and I'll probably never sell it. Great car. But the new generation of BMWs do nothing for me . . . bloated, over-styled, just . . . ugly. And they've totally debased the M brand by slapping it on everything with wheels.

    World's first Emira customer delivery?

Why so low? I assume based on relatively low historical sales of Lotus in Spain, Australia, population: 25 Million . . . 100 FE cars allocated But we have historically been one of Lotus' strongest markets

Lotus Emira interior is pretty much Lynk & Co...

Quite a few parts from the Geely bin, but that's overall a good thing. In this video alone, the steering wheel, start button, probably the instrument cluster, probably the key, etc.

Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

Biggest disappointment: not one single customer production slot in August. Only positive: Matt is on video saying that FE pricing will not change. FE could end up being a bit of a bargain.
