    New Jayemm Emira video

I think it's a lousy video, though I agree with many of the things James says in it. It's more of a self-indulgent and wide-ranging rant than an objective discussion of "where Lotus went so wrong". He misses the most important point: that Lotus has burned over a billion dollars because they...

How would you rate this full-body PPF job?

In fairness to your supplier, that looks like the standard Xpel template. If you want them to custom-cut and remove trims/parts to avoid those seams, you should expect it to cost more. Having said that, PPF is certainly expensive in your country! In Australia for $9K I could have got a full...

    Engine clacking on startup

My bet is a loose object like a metal nut sitting on the underfloor plate and vibrating.

    Dropped something in engine bay

Been there, done that. I was lucky to have a friend with a vehicle hoist/lift and found it easy to remove the steel floor plate. It's actually harder to remove and reinstall the lower rear bumper, so I'd just leave that alone.

Lotus introduces Emira V6 SE and Emira Turbo - showroom debut in September 2025.

Will this finally silence the experts who "know for a fact" that Lotus has ended or is about to end production of the V6? 😁

    Evija - it actually exists!

I took these in London about 18 months ago. It was a pre-production car, hence no ugly wiper (can't believe they couldn't come up with a better solution than having it sitting in the middle of the windscreen!).

V8 Emira being considered to replace V6

It has always seemed odd to me that the name Lotus doesn't appear anywhere on the Team Lotus JPS cars. I guess those tobacco marketing guys were tough negotiators!

Lotus clearly trying to market their racing history. Would be amazing to see the Lotus name back on an F1 car.

10,000th Emira rolls off the line

Absolute Lotus isn't keeping up with the news cycle. Lotus announced the 10,000 Emiras milestone back in March when they launched the Turbo SE model (in non-US markets). In fact, photos of car number 10,000 were circulated and discussed on this forum.

Matt Windle promoted, says he wants to build more cars at Hethel

Of course, but any decent company has a system that makes sure a letter to the CEO isn't just ignored. Normally there is an assistant who reads the letters, channels them to the appropriate person for response/follow-up and then makes sure a reply has been sent. Good CEOs also personally...

Matt Windle promoted, says he wants to build more cars at Hethel

Hard to argue with that. A company can't just ignore letters to their CEO.

Matt Windle promoted, says he wants to build more cars at Hethel

I was about to say the same thing, but then I remembered that Lotus sold over 35,000 Elises, so perhaps it's too soon to label Emira as their most successful car. On the other hand, it took them 26 years to sell all those Elises!

Matt Windle promoted, says he wants to build more cars at Hethel

I guess when they compared the Emira to the disaster that is Emeya and Eletre, he looked pretty good!

Matt Windle promoted, says he wants to build more cars at Hethel

I'm convinced the right strategy is: 1. Quietly kill off the Emeya and Eletre and stop using the contract factory in Wuhan 2. Build the TYP 134 (Macan competitor) in Hethel with a hybrid engine. This could be done alongside the Polestar 6 electric roadster to get volume savings...

Lotus - summary of financial situation

The strategy was deeply flawed, mostly because they launched it about ten years too early. The number of consumers who will buy an all-electric luxury vehicle is still absolutely tiny, and those who have (Taycan buyers) have been badly burned by technology issues and a collapse in residual...

Lotus - summary of financial situation

The money has been burned, so it's now a sunk cost. I don't think Geely will exit. I'm betting that they wash out the Malaysians, L Catterton, and other shareholders and fold Lotus fully into Geely Group.

I quite like the outside, especially the Clark Green paint colour. Not so keen on the interior . . . looks a bit cheap and tacky.

    Car Buzz - RIP Lotus?

https://carbuzz.com/the-automotive-industry-might-be-on-the-verge-of-losing-an-iconic-brand/ It's hard to argue that Lotus is in trouble, but the completely incompetent "journalism" is frustrating. The author doesn't seem to realise that Geely owns over 50% of Lotus Technology, so this doesn't...

New BYD “Denza” sportscar looks very familiar

Tesla makes great EVs, but beyond that the US auto industry just isn't globally competitive. If you put aside niche models like the Mustang or Corvette, Europeans stopped buying US cars decades ago. Ford now has only a 3.3% market share in Europe. Sure, the Chinese copy other brand's design...

UK Customer care phine number and live chat not working

This. We know there have been multiple waves of employee lay-offs. My guess is that head office has told them to cut every cost to the bone because the business is in serious financial trouble.

Almost certainly, IMO. The CEO recently said that they were conscious that the Lifestyle cars were "off brand" for Lotus and that they needed a new car to reinforce the sports car and racing heritage.

Lots of big news hidden in this updated product pipeline! 1. TYP 135, the EV Emira replacement, is gone. Instead they're going to keep Emira alive for far longer than originally planned. 2. The 2027 Emira facelift, which will be an upgrade to the power of the AMG unit. Perhaps the R model...

Lotus Emira V8 in Testing & Other News

First quarter deliveries of only 1,282 vehicles is a train-wreck for Lotus. They delivered over 4,000 in Q4 last year. It's a yearly run rate of just 5,128 vehicles from a company that planned to be selling 100,00+ by now. US car tarrifs didn't come into effect until the end of the quarter...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

I'd keep a very close eye on your doors. Teijin Automotive made the doors, the rear quarters and the clamshell. You've already got blistering on 2 out of 3, so clearly there's an issue with the batch of composite panels used in your car.

Geely to sell all share back to Lotus!

I noticed that the Top Gear cars were #22 and #23. So they've built at least 23 Evijas . . . though how many are customer cars is unknown. We also know that the eight Fittipaldi edition Evijas sold out (or at least that they took deposits on all of them!). Personally, I'd stretch another...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

PPF won't prevent blistering because the moisture isn't entering the composite panels from the painted side. There are two scenarios: 1. Water molecules are trapped inside the composite panels during manufacturing or storage. 2. Water molecules enter the composite panels because the...

Geely to sell all share back to Lotus!

This story isn't really the big news it seems. The plan was always that Lotus Technology would eventually take full ownership of Lotus Cars. This was noted in the original Lotus Technology investor presentations. They are tidying up a very messy corporate structure that investors find hard to...

3rd round of Redundancies at Lotus 😞

I think he was referring to the 25% tariff on USA car imports, not UK. Europe charges a ~30% tariff on Geely EVs, which I assume also applies to Lotus EVs coming from China (10% standard car tariff + 19% Geely EV tariff).
