Finding the steering really heavy at low / no speed

I don't think this is "just a Lotus thing." I haven't experienced it at all on my Emira.

Ok, I'm saying it - the infotainment system sucks (but who cares)

Totally flawed analogy because DAB and GPS are available on the Emira everywhere else in the world. We're talking about software settings not luggage space. Lotus simply failed to include Australia/NZ in the licensing arrangement for the software and didn't bother to warn their customers or...

Ok, I'm saying it - the infotainment system sucks (but who cares)

Yes, without any warning or notification or any willingness to communicate with Australian customers. And keep in mind, we are paying about £115,000 or US$140,000 for an Emira here! Meanwhile, an entry-level Kia or MG comes with these as standard.

Rattling interior, AC not working and window leaking (still not resolved)

Sounds like a terrible dealer. If you've failed to fix a problem you say "bring it back tomorrow" not "we can fit it in two weeks from now".

Scott the younger, and Scott the elder (AKA Pliny the younger, and Pliny the elder)

"Old Scott" - Scott Walker runs "Hethel Retail Operations". He had a 20+ year career selling Lotus cars for Bell & Colville, as head of sales for Lotus UK and running his own dealership group. He personally owns most of the classic cars on display in the retail area. "Young Scott" - Scott...

Anyone got an Emira with zero issues?!

Had mine for a few months. Done some long trips. No issues whatsoever (other than the usual minor quibbles with all modern cars like Apple Car Play not always connecting)

📓 Journals My DV Emira and modifications

Looks awesome! Great to see someone making the car their own. May I ask where you found the union jacks? I have been planning to add exactly that touch to my Emira.

    Osmium Silver

Osmium looks great, but at the end of the day, it's "just silver". Like millions of other cars on the road. What I Iove about Nimbus is that it's a genuinely different colour, it stands out even though it's silver. The general public seems to agree, since I've had several people come up...

Emira Issues - from final production cars

2 years ago? October 2021? I don't think production of customer cars had even started then.

Jason Cammisa & Derek Tam-Scott on Emira & Eletre

Agree with them on the brake bite. If you're even slightly careless the brakes can be very grabby past the dead spot.

Jason Cammisa & Derek Tam-Scott on Emira & Eletre

I've owned a 997 GTS. Emira steering is definitely better than a 997. As they put it in the review, "this or a 911? Fuck the 911."
  18. Nick in Sydney

Which car to get rid of?

I'd sell the 911 Turbo. The Emira and the 911 really do the same job, just in a different style. The M5 gives you flexibility to carry passengers and cruise long distances in comfort.

    Lotus Emira Future Versions Thread

I think Type 135 will be the first opportunity to see some of the great interior design features of Electra/Emeya in a sports car. Hethel will do the engineering work, but given it will be part of the new Lotus BEV family I'm confident they will want to have a reasonably consistent interior...

Only three more years of ICE Emira?

Wrong. The people writing investor presentations for SPACS are primarily investment bankers with lawyers looking very, very, closely over their shoulders to avoid investor class actions or SEC violations. This is not about font sizes or pretty colours. In multiple presentations lodged with...

  25. Nick in Sydney

Only three more years of ICE Emira?

Agreed. But what's all this talk about "converting the Emira to BEV" in the investor presentations? It seems unlikely that they would repeatedly say this in multiple presentations if it wasn't the plan.

My rear tyre (tire) only lasted 700km. Screw that.

Bugger. I had a miserable twelve months when two different houses were being rennovated on my street and I got not one, not two, but three nails in my tyres. The builders seem to just toss them on the ground without thinking twice.

Yes, they are going to back Lotus Technology into a SPAC that is currently owned by L Catterton, the luxury brand private equity firm. https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1841024/000110465923008575/tm234838d1_ex99-2.htm

Latest Car Magazine review — says it all

Pretty positive review overall. Not sure what they are talking about with slow touchscreen software. Maybe an issue with their specific car?
  30. Nick in Sydney

Only three more years of ICE Emira?

I've wondered about that too. However, the investor presentation very clearly says that they will have 3 BEV sports cars in 2025 (Evija, Emira, Type 135) .
  31. Nick in Sydney

Only three more years of ICE Emira?

It seems so since they have applied for planning permission to build another new facility there to manufacture the Type 135. At the moment they seem committed to the "sports cars in England to protect the brand" strategy.
  32. Nick in Sydney

Only three more years of ICE Emira?

Yes! Although I think this forum creates a massive echo chamber that exaggerates the scale of these issues. Lotus is currently delivering ~4,500 Emiras a year, and we have a handful (ie, less than five) people on this forum who have had genuinely terrible "lemon" experiences.
  33. Nick in Sydney

Only three more years of ICE Emira?

We've probably discussed this before, but if you look closely at the wording in the Lotus SPAC investor presentation, it very clearly states that Lotus will be a BEV only company by 2027. The January SPAC presentation specifically says that "ICE production will end in 2026." The July...

    New Lotus company

Based on the July SPAC investor presentation, my interpretation is that sports car manufacturing, design and engineering remains with Lotus Cars. All global car sales, distributor relationships, marketing and customer care has been pulled into the Chinese group that will go to IPO/SPAC. The...

Lotus already sold 2200 Emira in the first half of this year

To be pedantic, they didn't "sell" 2,200 Emiras in the first half, they manufactured them. The sales took place over the past three years. But you're right, the company has real momentum. They are putting out ~4,500 Emiras a year now, and the Electre order book is MUCH stronger than I...

Went in for recal/updates, came out with a new issue

Vast majority of Emiras have no material issues at all. Unfortunately there are a very small number of "lemons" that have put their owners through hell.
