    Latest Update

Looked the LC up based on the posts here. Ugh! I do not like the looks and and heavy!!! Looks are in the eye of the beholder but a very different type of car surely. My faith is wavering but more to the 570s.

Final Production Seats: A Deeper Dive

I disagree completely on the dealership experience. I dream of my old BMW dealer rather than the disinterested, completely unreachable Tesla people who won’t even bend down to pick up a dropped fiver unless you hand over your credit card details first. The cars are worth about £30k, but the...

Final Production Seats: A Deeper Dive

Speaking as a Tesla owner I agree but it will be their dealer and service model that pushes me away back to BMW et al rather than their somewhat middling car quality.

    Shmee 150 Emira Update

I have no clue what 2 deposits means. I also think they are desperate not to harm v6 sales and thus are keeping any data about the i4 super secret. I have seen the engines on the factory floor and a couple installed in cars but non running or even in finished condition. I am confident it is a...

    Shmee 150 Emira Update

I have made 2nd payment on an i4, had the config link and confirmation with cs at Lotus. I had an email saying Nov build and Dec delivery but later one saying 2023 so it is realish. Original deposit 8th July

    Super charger whine

I'll forgive you as you were a Saab turbo driver in the past ;). I have owned many including the original 99 Turbo, 900 APC 16v, 900 (GM) plain jane turbo and late model 93 Aero. I then moved to BMW with the N54 (old 335i) and N55 (current M235i). Looking forward to the i4 as you might imagine.

    Super charger whine

"Muffled Turbo" ..... Bit pejorative dontcha think? I guess, you are not a fan but if asking only about superchargers, why put this option?

What did you do with your car today?

Drove London to Peterborough to get my new passport, nice round (166 mile) trip on relatively cheap overnight electrickery charge (Tesla M3P) and got home with 100 mile range left. Chuffed because I dodged all the accident induced closures and congestion, nice average speed of ahem 70mph.

i4 FE - When are we going to see it? Getting annoyed

I am a fairly early i4 (July 8th) deposit. I got a second call and link to confirm my spec back in April which I double checked on a phone call. I have received the generic emails along with a specific delivery in Dec email later followed by another more recently changing that to a "we will let...

FIRST LOOK: McLaren Solus GT – £2.75m V10 Gran Turismo Hypercar Made Real! | Top Gear

As I get older I get less and less interested in these vanity project cars. All very clever but they become a bit of an arms race. I guess I like that they exist but they are getting so far removed from reality and the costs are so high that I find it hard to have my emotions stirred which...

Anyone else daily driving a Tesla Model 3 Performance?

I have a M3P on a company lease since Dec 2020. I love the performance, just took it on a road trip London to Aberdeen and back. Lots of fun and it is an overtaking weapon. However my M235i is more fun to drive and I will have the Emira at some point and I suspect will choose it every time.

Seneca Blue Lotus Emira Photo Thread

I am the classic SB, black pack, alcantara, yellow stitch, diamond cut wheels. Had a few wobbles mainly around Magma but after the tour doubled down on SB. I am an i4 as well, was a Dec delivery but who knows now.

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

I made the mistake of reading the doom and gloom on here first and almost did not watch the review. I girded my loins and bravely went in to battle and…………. Nothing. Henry’s usually relaxed style and lots of nice things said about the Emira? Bu but but, I heard it was terrible and an...

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

There is a huge amount of positive media about EV use, some of it messianic in its praise, especially the early Tesla adopters; they can be a scary crowd. If you like a YouTube experience I recommend Harry's Garage for offering a very balanced view on EV use and ownership amongst many other car...

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

From my admittedly very brief reading of the Western Journal, balanced is the least appropriate word to describe its stories on most topics. It is a publication with very definite views on a lot of subjects.

    Henry Catchpole - Carfection review

I was rehearsing my reply to Eagle 7 and then I saw you had taken if from my head and written it down for me, many thanks. Only thing I would change is around broken chargers. I have never seen a broken Tesla charger, quite a few "other" chargers broken. I had the choice of the M3 against a...

Is This For Real? BMW Charging to use heated seats?

Well that claim is not possible then as there are many options that clearly cannot be accounted for such as visual differences, spoilers, colour, wheels, tow bar, leather/alcantara seats, different hifi options, engine options etc etc. I have a Tesla and they closer than most to this world...

Is This For Real? BMW Charging to use heated seats?

I agree there will be parts that are still a custom build option, all visual stuff like sunroofs, physical stuff like sports suspension and stuff that has a very high parts costs. Anything electronic is a key potential for this, usually a very low parts cost just like the seat heaters.

Is This For Real? BMW Charging to use heated seats?

In items like cars, the cost of manufacture and the cost to the consumer are pretty much unrelated. although some basic rules need to be followed like keeping cost of manufacture under selling price for obvious reasons unless you are selling a loss leader to buy market share. To try and make a...

    emira acceleration

You do know that this is a Lotus Emira forum right, full of people who have paid money up front undriven and many unseen for an Emira. What do you expect when you make bold statements about "spanking or destroying"a car that has not officially had referenced laptimes or independant acceleration...

    emira acceleration

Absolutely, we had exactly the same car before the M235i, it had more than its fair share of challenges tho, wastegate rattle, coil packs, water pump, turbos, crank seal leak etc etc. Fortunately all under warranty and then extended but a lovely car to drive.

    emira acceleration

My Tesla M3P is rated at 3.1 sec 0-60, I have long ago stopped worrying about 0-60 times. My M235i is a "fastish" car at around 4.8 sec and feels great as a daily driver and occasional track day. Still feels more fun to accelerate in than my Tesla despite being smoked by it in outright pace...

a car 'For the gap', inviting suggestions

I am a big Saab fan, had several; 99 EMS, 900 8v, 900 16v APC, new shape 900 turbo, 93 Aero. Always wanted a Viggen but got into BMW M cars instead. I would def consider a 900 Classic 16v APC Turbo for the old school tough as old boots Saab feeling. If you want quicker, look for a 93 Viggen and...

Shmee First drive video out peeps

In this context it is very normal to refer to Europe meaning continental Europe. It is wrong but we still do it, even us who hate everything about Brexit. A better analogy would be an Alaskan or Hawaiian talking about going to America. Not sure if they do say that though.

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

Well logically yes you are correct. Ignoring efficiency gains, there are only two ways to get more power, make the bangs bigger or have more of them. So with more bangs per period of time, you are therefore consuming more fuel and generating more emissions.
