📓 Journals Another new arrival - Seneca for Christmas

Another Wattbike user I see, what a great place to have it as well.

What's the first mod you did or plan to do for your Emira?

I had the front plate on my Tesla fall off for real and it was a real pain parking later that day as the parking ANPR system let me in a car park but I could not pay at the machine and it would not let me out.

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Thats interesting. I am Aug 23 production currently so I guess that puts me in the first 75 as well. Not sure I feel I have had constantly moving dates. First proper date I got was Nov build and Dec deliver (2022) then it moved to "sometime in 2023" with a confirmation date of August 23 two...

Harry's Garage videos - visit to Hethel and Matt Windle interview, Emira collection and drive

I really enjoyed Harry's piece today and they align well with my test drive from last week although much less variation of route and time in the car obviously. It seemed to me that it was all about the feel on the roads, the B&C car had similar miles on it - around 3k I think and revved freely...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

Agreed. I last drove a manual 8 years ago and jumped in to the Emira yesterday with no major issues. I tried rushing a 2-3 upchange and miss judged it, once; but no more. It’s a lovely easy access beautiful sports car

Nimbus FE coming in time for Christmas

Aha, it’s yours! I was there yesterday for my test drive and was admiring it. Mentioned it in my test drive review as well. Lovely spec.

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

I popped down to B&C today for my test drive accompanied by Antonia who greeted me with "you will be doing all the driving today" which was nice as I had heard some were driven for 10 mins first. It would be my first ever Lotus experience, would it be my last? First impressions or technically...

Being pulled towards an AM Vantage - Help

Ain't nothing under $200k that will match the Tesla M3P acceleration anyway so forget that idea. Not much over $200k that will either. (I am an M3P owner as well) My advice is do both. You won't get an Emira for 6-9 months at best, buy the AM run it for the 6-9 months, keep the deposit and when...

Harry's Garage videos - visit to Hethel and Matt Windle interview, Emira collection and drive

I understood your running in oil change comment - although I am unclear this is needed or specified these days with modern cars and oils being much better - my comment was more general as I have always wondered about the number of oil change places.

Harry's Garage videos - visit to Hethel and Matt Windle interview, Emira collection and drive

I have noticed during around a 100 trips to the USA over the past 30 years, that Americans have really keen interest in oil changes. You have more Jiffy Lube (other brands are available) than McDonalds. They are everywhere, quite apart from presumably regular car workshops and dealerships that...

    Desirability

Nah, their future lies in the Eletre and it's ilk. The Emira is a bit of fluff, pretty and desirable but ultimately not that important other than maintaining the Lotus sporting credentials.

I'm out - the cancellations thread

I am no expert as I have only recently started looking at them but lots of different reasons I think. They are still building the brand compared with Ferrari/Lambo etc, early cars had a lot of reliability issues, some paint bubbling reports and not all covered by warranty. The second hand...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

I got the email but no change, stayed at August 23 but also been tempted by McLaren 540/570. watching vids, reading forums and thinking of a test drive. Big step up in running costs though and no doubt insurance as well. Ext Warranty £3k - £5k annually paint issues, service costs.

2.0 EMIRA has arrived in China

I was speculating to myself today that maybe part of the reasons for the longer delay to the i4 is that Lotus will actually release the 400bhp version in the UK once the main tranche of FE v6's have been delivered??? Probably just wishful thinking

V6 FE dyno results and weight

Oh I get the point, you are down on the i4 and modern emission regs muffling turbo 4's. Meh, I don't care. the i4 will be the Emira to have, the turbo engine will give the torque rush that the V6 is missing, far more potential for tuning, better emissions, lower tax and probably better...

Anyone driven the M139 (AMG A45 etc)?

No idea but they certainly design them. I would guess they outsource the foundry but much of the experimental stuff would be machined single cylinder stuff https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricardo_PLC

Anyone driven the M139 (AMG A45 etc)?

Then you would be wrong 🤪 Ricardo are a very experienced engine and transmission designer and builder for decades. My company has been a supplier to Ricardo for years. They are a very clever organisation and work with many other engine constructors in an advisory capacity.

@Eagle7 thanks for following up this with KEF. Porsche announces new manual 911 T, looking pretty comparable to Emira (sub 100k before options)

My dream car was always a P911 and in some way it kind of still is. The Emira stopped me in my tracks and rather than a £50k used C4s switched to the new car and justified the extra £20k or so. I have done the config game with the T but it comes out at £110 which is too rich for me but I keep...

Harry's Garage videos - visit to Hethel and Matt Windle interview, Emira collection and drive

Nope, it's an industry time measure for how often you complete a car (or anything actually) so when the line is in full speed a new car will be produced every takt time period; so 22 - 17 minutes for the Emira. This drives the speed of each station as each station must not exceed the takt time...
